Player Ratings
Ederson-5/10: Not his best performance, and he would be disappointed with the goals he conceded.
Rico Lewis-8/10: Another polished display from Lewis. He looks primed for a big 24/25 season.
Kalvin Phillips-7.5/10: A quality showing from Phillips in defence. He looked more assured in possession and did his job well. A promising display from the England international.
Josko Gvardiol-6.5/10: Gvardiol set up Nico O’Reilly’s goal with a sublime pass. But at other times he looked rusty as he begins to find his form and touch ahead of the new season.
Josh Wilson-Esbrand-7/10: That was easily Wilson-Esbrand’s best performance of the summer. He defended well and was good in possession.
Mateo Kovacic-7.5/10: A quality showing from the Croatian international. His play to set up the equaliser for Jack Grealish was sublime and he looks ready for the 24/25 season.
Nico O’Reilly-7/10: Got himself on the score sheet and showed his quality at times. He is still learning what is required at the highest level but Manchester City look to have unearthed a gem.
Oscar Bobb-7/10: Bobb wasn’t as dominant as his previous two performances. But he was still a constant threat throughout.
James McAtee-6/10: A quiet performance from McAtee. He showed some flashes of quality at times, but not his best performance.
Jack Grealish-8/10: He scored one with an exquisite finish and was likely throughout. Looks fit and hungry for a big 24/25 season.
Erling Haaland-6/10: Was unlucky to be denied a goal in the first half before being substituted at the interval.
Substitutes Stefan Ortega-6/10: Had very little to do after coming on in the second half.
Maximo Perrone -6.5/10: Once again showed his quality during the second half. Perrone has been a standout at times this summer.
Callum Doyle-7/10: Another quality performance from Doyle. He is by far Manchester City’s best young defensive prospect.
Mahamadou Susoho-6/10: Didn’t get into the game after coming on in the second half.
Jacob Wright-6/10: Once again showed poise in possession at times.
Amar Fatah-6.5/10: He looks to be a talented prospect for the future. Impressed again off the bench.
Luke Mbete-6/10: Came on and played at left-back. Showed some promising signs in an unfamiliar position.
Micah Hamilton-6/10: Couldn’t get into the game like he did against AC Milan.
Jaden Heskey-N/A: Not on long enough to mark.

Player Ratings
Stefan Ortega – 8
Made several excellent saves to retain Manchester City’s dominant hold on the game, denying the likes of Noni Madueke and Christopher Nkunku from close range. Displayed excellent passing range too, despite one sole error.
Rico Lewis – 7.5
Another experienced and mature performance from Rico Lewis, commanding the right-side of Manchester City’s defence and offering plenty in an attacking sense, too. A shame to see him succumb to injury, but hopefully only an impact issue.
Kalvin Phillips – 7
Is this the position we could see somewhat of a redemption in for Kalvin Phillips at Manchester City? Okay, we might be getting a little carried away, but having the play in front of the 28-year-old has showcased his talents once again. Several crucial blocks, excellent passing range, and composed at the back.
Josko Gvardiol – 7
A further step in the right direction for Josko Gvardiol in pre-season, showing exactly why he is the club’s most senior defender on the United States pre-season tour this summer. A fantastic sign of things to come this season.
Josh Wilson-Esbrand – 6.5
Arguably the youngster’s finest showing of football for Manchester City on pre-season this summer, and a huge shame to see him succumb to a hamstring injury at the end of the first-half. Another top-level loan could see him develop greatly in the senior game.
Mateo Kovacic – 7
Showcasing a fine ability to turn on the ball in defensive midfield and drive the play into attacking areas. Created numerous opportunities with that same passage of play, similar to his assist against Barcelona. A real option to act as back-up to Rodri this season.
Nico O’Reilly – 6.5
Another showing beyond his years in the Manchester City first-team, once again operating much deeper than where he has become used to in the Academy set-up. Plenty more to come this season from the teenager.
James McAtee – 8
Two assists for James McAtee and an overall excellent attacking performance from the Englishman showing exactly why Pep Guardiola is so keen to keep the player, and why he has been attracting admiration and attention from… Chelsea.
Oscar Bobb – 8.5
A bright spark as he has been throughout the pre-season tour, further adding to his tally of goal contributions with a strike into the net of his own. Combined well with all areas of the forward line and was Manchester City’s most threatening player, causing havoc down the right.
Erling Haaland – 9 (MOTM)
A masterclass in taking chances when presented. But nothing new from Erling Haaland, in all honesty. A hat-trick on the eve of the competitive season. Expect plenty more where that came from, Blues!
Jack Grealish – 6.5
Another step in the right direction for Jack Grealish, building confidence and showcasing his strong ability to retain possession and link-up with the attacking line. Watch this space!
Substitutes
Tomas Galvez – 6
Bright on the attack, struggled defensively. Difficult to come into a game at the half-time interval unexpectedly due to Wilson-Esbrand’s hamstring injury, but a loan could develop Galvez into a fine talent.
Mahamadou Susoho – 6
Operated at right-back once again, coming on in the place of the injured Rico Lewis. Nothing too much to note, but nothing too much to criticise or highlight for the wrong reasons.
Amar Fatah – 6.5
Bright in spells, offered directness and pace in attack, but squandered two excellent opportunities to score his first Manchester City goals during this rare trial period within Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Joel Ndala – 6
Largely similar to the former; very bright and direct in attack, but struggled to make that impact at the very final moment. What a talent, and Ndala is no doubt one to watch for the months and years to come!
Scott Carson – N/A
Ended Manchester City’s pre-season tour of the United States donning the captain’s armband.
Justin Oboavwoduo – N/A
Jacob Wright – N/A
Maximo Perrone – N/A
Callum Doyle – N/A
Lakyle Samuel – N/A
Stephen Mfuni – N/A

Player Ratings
Stefan Ortega
One good save to preserve a clean sheet in the first half, but was lucky not to concede when he passed straight to Nkunku but the lob dropped just wide. 6
Rico Lewis
Another steady, classy performance at right-back should lock him in for that position at Wembley. Kyle Walker can have as long as he needs to build up fitness. 7
Kalvin Phillips
Once again, a solid performance at centre-back. If City didn't have so many players in that position, he might have done enough to stake a claim for a position-change, but he's probably only confirmed that he doesn't have a future in midfield. In isolation, a good game. 7
Josko Gvardiol
One good block in the first half to stop a shot, and a solid outing in general. He said on Friday that he feels fit and ready for the new season, with this performance backing that up. 6
Josh Wilson-Esbrand
Forced off with injury at the break, but a decent game before that. Beaten once by Nkunku but fairly solid otherwise. 6
Mateo Kovacic
City just look better when he plays. Some nice touches, good positioning and one or two of those driving runs that are becoming a bit of a trademark. In Rodri's absence, Kovacic's quick acclimatisation is welcome. 7
Nico O'Reilly
Built on his goal vs Barcelona with another confident outing. He's got better and better with each game on this tour and you can see why Guardiola likes him. In the manager's words, City have a player on their hands. 7
James McAtee
Better again, did everything right - and a smart assist for Haaland's hat-trick goal. Guardiola will probably like the fact that he's done the unspectacular very well. 7
Oscar Bobb
One dazzling run along the byline deserved more and his goal was that of a player full of confidence. He ends the tour with two goals and three assists in four games - a very, very good trip for the winger. 8
Jack Grealish
Made the first goal with his interception and could have had a goal later in the first half. He stayed calm in the face of aggravation from Enzo Fernandez. Good evening to round off the kind of tour he needed. 7
Erling Haaland
Two goals in the first five minutes to make it four from four on tour in the first half - and completed a hat-trick in the second half with another one-on-one finish following a Chelsea mistake for a fifth of the summer. Clinical. 8
Subs Tom Galvez (on 45)
A first senior appearance for the left-back and he looked good, especially in attack. 6
Mahamadou Susoho (on 69)
Replaced Lewis at right-back. 6
Amar Fatah (on 70)
Lively again from the triallist. 6
Joel Ndala (on 70)
Some quick feet on the left. 6
Scott Carson (on 78)
A popular introduction for his second appearance of the tour. 7
Justin Oboavwoduo (on 78)
A senior debut for the forward was well deserved. 6
Jacob Wright (on 78)
Another solid cameo. 6
Stephen Mfuni, Lakyle Samuel, Callum Doyle (on 86)
No time to make impact

Player Ratings
Ederson – 6.5
Over hit a few passes early but other than that was decent throughout. Wasn’t at fault for the goal and had a vital save in the penalty.
Rico Lewis – 7.5
Held his own for the most part against Rashford and Sancho, and was tidy on the ball as always.
Manuel Akanji – 7.5
Scored the decisive penalty, excellent distribution and just so composed on the ball. Amazing performance despite a lack of pre-season minutes.
Ruben Dias -7
Just like Akanji, Dias looked right at home despite only a few training sessions so far.
Josko Gvardiol – 6.5
Good on the ball, per usual. However, it felt as though Manchester United were easily able to target the space behind in for the entire second-half and was out of position for Garnacho’s goal.
Mateo Kovacic – 7.5
Misplayed a few passes in the opening minutes but settled into his own later. Solid performance to kick off what will likely be a vital opening few moments.
James McAtee – 7
Looked solid in his first start for City. Could’ve been an unforgettable moment if his shot went inn
Nico O’Reilly – 6.5
Neither a great nor terrible debut for the midfielder. The 19-year-old looked tidy on the ball early on, but began to fade as the match progressed.
Erling Haaland – 6
Had little service to work with, and was decent when on ball. Not a bad performance.
Oscar Bobb – 8 (MOTM)
Was the best player on the pitch yet again. Is entering the season in fine form full of confidence.
Jeremy Doku -7.5
Was an absolute menace on the left wing. Potentially could’ve had an assist if Nico O’Reilly attacked his cross in the first half.
Substitutes:
Matheus Nunes – 5.5
Looked threatening a few times, but seemed consistently out off position when United attacked on the counter.
Savinho – 7
Solid debut performance, looks threatening when on the ball.
Bernardo – 7
Was on the pitch for less than 10 minutes but scored the crucial goal to force it to penalties.
Kevin De Bruyne: N/A
Nathan Ake: N/A

Player Ratings
Ederson: Dropped a dolly that he got away with and then let's say he did enough to put Rashford off in the second half. 6
Lewis: Roaming for the first time in ages, charging forward into the No.8 spaces and pushing on into the box whenever he could. 7
Akanji: Solid enough, with his presence and game intelligence also allowing Lewis to get forward. Converted winning penalty 6
Dias: A few sloppy passes in the first half that drew Guardiola's anger, and will feel like he should have done better for the goal. 5
Gvardiol: Some adventurous balls that worked brilliantly coupled with some adventurous balls that put his own team in trouble. Wasn't great for the goal either. 5
Kovacic: Plenty to like, including his trademark tornado runs through the middle of the pitch and his comfort in the Rodri role. 7
O'Reilly: Struggled to settle all game, with his legs looking a second ahead of his brain when he got into good positions. 6
McAtee: Some lovely bits of play, including turning past two United players to set up a Bobb chance and then hitting the post minutes later. 7
Bobb: No signs of his momentum slowing, beating United players with ease and gliding into the box regularly. Even if he couldn't find a finish, he came up with the assist. 8
Doku: Very promising at dribbling and taking on opponents, less successful at shooting or finding a teammate with the final ball. 6
Haaland: Flooring Harry Maguire was his most memorable contribution as his running didn't bring many chances - not that he got any supply. 6
Substitutes
Savinho (for Doku, 64) Confident on the ball in his first appearance. 6
Nunes (for O'Reilly, 64) A decent run into the box that worried United. 6
Silva (for McAtee, 80) Good header for equaliser but missed in shoot out 7
De Bruyne (for Bobb, 90)
Ake (for Gvardiol, 90)

GK: Ederson - 6/10 - Didn't have too much to do in terms of saving United attacks, but offered support when needed. Sometimes struggled in distribution when he had the ball.
RB: Rico Lewis - 8/10 - One of City's most impressive characters on the pitch. The 19-year-old looked like an experienced head when dancing through United's midfield. Created exciting chances in front of goal too.
CB: Manuel Akanji - 7/10 - Misplaced a few long passes early on but still represented an immense threat in City's backline. Often looked both sharp and alert.
CB: Ruben Dias - 5/10 - Dias often struggled to get on the end of simple passes, but did block Bruno Fernandes' chance in front of goal - whether he meant to or not.
LB: Josko Gvardiol - 5/10 - Battled with Amad and often came off slightly worse when the pair faced off. He often seemed slow and perhaps rusty.
DM: Mateo Kovacic - 7/10 - Worked to carry the ball well up the pitch and silenced United with ease. He attempted chances and also covered his opposition - a strong performance.
DM: Nico O'Reilly - 6/10 - Despite his inexperience, O'Reilly looked confident for City. The ability to play deeper may have worked in the 19-year-old's favour.
RW: Oscar Bobb - 8/10 - Showed why he deserves a call-up to the first team. Put on a true show in blue and made light work of chasing down the wing.
AM: James McAtee - 7/10 - Had an early shot which was unlucky to hit the woodwork, but made good movements to create chances for his side. A real technical, home-grown star.
LW: Jeremy Doku - 6/10 - Made light work of United's defence and dribbled up and down the pitch with little effort. Was unable to find the back of the net but attempted a good chance before the break.
ST: Erling Haaland - 6/10 - Actually had little influence for most of the game. Found it hard to pick out his teammates for assists and had little time in front of the goal himself.
Substitutes SUB: Matheus Nunes (63 for O'Reilly) - 6/10
SUB: Savio (63' for Doku) - 6/10
SUB: Bernardo Silva (80' for McAtee) - 8/10
SUB: Nathan Ake (90' for Gvardiol) - N/A
SUB: Kevin De Bruyne (90' for Bobb) - N/A

Player Ratings
Ederson (8/10):
Had nothing to do in the first half but will be disappointed to be beaten by Garnacho's low strike for the opener. Made a great save to keep out Sancho's spot-kick in the shootout and then took one himself and left Onana with no chance.
Rico Lewis (6/10):
Gave Rashford acres of space for one big chance in the first half but look threatening when driving forward. Unfortunately for him, those bursts didn't lead to anything meaningful.
Manuel Akanji (7/10):
A strange afternoon for Akanji and Dias in that they didn't have a No.9 to mark. Scored the winning penalty in the shootout to put his name up in lights.
Ruben Dias (6/10):
Heroically stuck his head in the way of a Fernandes rocket in the first half but was caught out a couple of times in the second period as the Portuguese drifted and pulled strings from the No.10 area. Slotted his penalty home in the shootout to help City win the trophy.
Josko Gvardiol (5/10):
Had a tough afternoon against the threat of Amad and then Garnacho. Caught out of position as the Argentine found himself in space to score the opening goal.
Nico O'Reilly (5/10):
Didn't quite work out for him on his senior debut. Some positive runs forward but ultimately couldn't put his stamp on the game. Will be more chances for him in the future, no doubt.
Mateo Kovacic (7/10):
Deployed in the Rodri role and although he may not be as effective as the Spanish juggernaut, he had a decent enough game and won possession more than anyone else on the pitch.
James McAtee (5/10):
Clipped the post in the first half but similar to O'Reilly, failed to really influence the game before he was replaced by Bernardo Silva.
Jeremy Doku (5/10):
Hammered a shot just wide late on in the first half but that was about it. Showed flashes of his quality but, as we've seen so often with Doku, the end product was lacking.
Erling Haaland (4/10):
Anonymous. A big reason for that was the lack of service into him but he'll be disappointed that he couldn't have more of an impact on the game, with the City striker having just 17 (!) touches of the ball.
Oscar Bobb (7/10):
Looked the most likely to make something happen in the first half and although he faded in the second, as United got more of a foothold, it was the Norwegian's delightful cross that led to Bernardo's equaliser.
Substitutes
Matheus Nunes (5/10):
Replaced O'Reilly just after the hour mark and was booked almost immediately. Then lost possession up the pitch that led to Garnacho's opening goal. Bumped his ratings score up by despatching his penalty into the top corner.
Savinho (6/10):
Brought on after 63 minutes and showed a couple of glimpses of his quality but United were on the front foot a the time. Confidently slotted his penalty home.
Bernardo Silva (7/10):
Came on for the final 10 minutes and the birthday boy changed things in the final moments with a bullet header past Onana to send it to penalties. Will be annoyed he then missed his spot-kick in the shootout but it didn't matter in the end.
Kevin De Bruyne (N/A):
Introduced in stoppage time to take a penalty and made no mistake as he slotted into the corner.
Nathan Ake (N/A):
Replaced Gvardiol at left-back late on.
Pep Guardiola (7/10):
It's difficult to grade Guardiola as the Community Shield clearly isn't at the top of his trophy priority list. With that in mind, he gave chances to a few youngsters and fringe players and ultimately will be happy to see his team show the character to come out on top after falling behind late on.

Ederson-7/10: He gets a seven after his well-taken penalty in the shootout and his save during it.
Rico Lewis-6.5/10: Showed at times how far he’s come as a player. Though he was also caught out defensively at times.
Manuel Akanji-7/10: Calm at the back and looks set for another big season.
Ruben Dias-7/10: The captain’s armband suits him, and he showed it today.
Josko Gvardiol-6/10: Was good in possession but had a hard time defensively at times. The Croatian is building into his season so his performance is no real cause for concern.
Mateo Kovacic-6.5/10: Cruised through the game as an experienced player would. He looks set for a big 24/25 season.
Nico O’Reilly-6.5/10: Showed some glimpses of quality, especially in the first half before being substituted. A promising senior debut from O’Reilly.
James McAtee-6.5/10: Showed flashes at times but looks ready to be a contributor for Manchester City this season. Unlucky to see his first-half effort hit the post.
Oscar Bobb-7.5/10: Continued his fine pre-season form at Wembley. Set up Bernardo’s late equaliser with a perfect assist and was City’s most dangerous attacking player throughout.
Jeremy Doku-6.5/10: Had some flashes of brilliance at times and was frustrating at others. Showed enough to show he’s improved from his debut season.
Erling Haaland-4/10: Haaland was barely sighted through 90 minutes but made Andre Onana look silly with his penalty in the shootout. His performance was that of a player who is building into the new season which begins next weekend.
Substitutes Matheus Nunes-4/10: His penalty in the shootout was brilliant. Nunes display after coming on as a substitute showed he has a lot to improve on. It’s on him to force his way into Pep Guardiola’s plans this season.
Savinho-7/10: The Brazilian international was lively after coming on. Manchester City have a player on their hands based off his cameo appearance today.
Bernardo Silva-7/10: Bernardo came on late and was determined to see his team win. He scored City’s equaliser but also missed City’s first penalty in the shootout. Bernardo looks primed for another big season.
Kevin De Bruyne-N/A: Not on long enough to mark.
Nathan Ake-N/A: Not on long enough to mark.

Ederson – 7.5
Was fortunate that Jackson was offside for the first-half goal but made an excellent point blank save to make up for it. Fumbled another two shots after that as well.
Rico Lewis -7.5
Was sound on the ball, as always. Saved a goal and the one he scored should’ve counted.
Manuel Akanji – 7.5
Was under constant duress due to long balls in behind but handled each and every one of them with ease. Looks to be in midseason form already.
Ruben Dias – 7
Similar to Akanji he handled nearly every ball in behind with relative ease. However, there were a few shaky moments that likely can be attributed to early season rust.
Josko Gvardiol – 7
Had a fantastic clearance during a first-half counter attack and was his usual self when on the ball.
Mateo Kovacic – 8.5 (MOTM)
Wonderful job as the Rodri cover. Wasn’t as influential as Spaniard can be but controlled and progressed the ball as often as he could. A world class goal capped off the performance.
Bernardo Silva – 7.5
Did a good job redirecting Doku’s ball for Haaland’s goal, should have had a second assist for Haaland as well. Decent shift.
Kevin De Bruyne – 7
Wasn’t as careless on the ball as he sometimes can be when returning to form, his shots weren’t particularly close but that will come.
Jeremy Doku – 7
Was shocked to see Cucurella consistently get the better of him in the opening 15 minutes but he returned to form when he swapped wings and began to play on the left. One of the poorer performances from a final balk standpoint.
Erling Haaland – 8
Did an excellent job beating two defending and chipping the goalkeeper, consistently got himself into good positions, but rarely got the service he needed.
Savinho – 8
Solid perfomance in his first start for the club. Led the squad in chances created, dribbles completed and successful take-ons. Like Doku he was better after he swapped wings, but it’s clear that he is going to be a great signing. Hope the substitution was nothing more than a precaution.
Substitutes:
Foden – 6
Quiet performance, which is understandable considering the shortened pre-season.
