Manchester City have now raised almost £60m in funds this summer, predominantly from selling academy players, with Delap (£20m),the latest to leave for big money having come through the City Football Academy. He follows Taylor Harwood-Bellis (£20m) and Tommy Doyle (£5m) in securing permanent moves to the Premier League this summer, both having impressed on loan last season with Southampton and Wolves respectively. With Sergio Gomez joining Real Sociedad for an initial fee of £8.4m yesterday, and City's budget boosted by a £5.4m sell-on clause inserted into Douglas Luiz's Aston Villa contract, the Blues are approaching £60m in total fees raised this summer. ps3 fanboy liked this post

Player Ratings
Stefan Ortega – 6 Tasked with denying three huge Celtic chances in his 45 minutes of action, but wasn’t able to stop any of them hitting the back of his net. Rico Lewis – 7.5 Inverted from full-back into midfield with his usual panache, adopting some intelligent areas in advanced positions – something he’s recently expressed a desire to do more for City. Jahmai Simpson-Pusey – 6.5 His Manchester City pedigree was clear to see with his comfort on the ball, and although the high line caused him a little bother, the FA Youth Cup-winning captain did his part to defend when necessary. Luke Mbete – 5 Seemed a little panicked in his work on the ball, and switched off to allow Kyogo in for Celtic’s third before being withdrawn at half-time. Josh Wilson-Esbrand – 4.5 Had a one-on-one nightmare in truth. Simply couldn’t deal with the direct threat of Nicolas Kuhn’s dribbling. Kalvin Phillips – 5 Struggled badly to deal with the high-speed transitions in the middle, not offering the backline enough protection. Nico O’Reilly – 7 Showed a number of classy touches which will excite Manchester City fans, none more so than a good pick-out for Oscar Bobb’s goal. Oscar Bobb – 8.5 (MOTM) Was a little quiet outside of his goal in the first half, but really showed his authority in the second to set up both goals. James McAtee – 7 Was impressively comfortable dropping into pockets to show for the ball, playing on the half-turn and pushing Manchester City up the pitch with progressive passing. Jack Grealish – 7.5 A refreshingly aggressive hour or so from Jack Grealish, in which he looked much more confident taking on players and being creative than he did for much of last season. Erling Haaland – 7 Kept mostly quiet outside of the goalmouth action, scoring once and drawing two saves from Schmeichel with some sharp movement. Substitutes Ederson – 6.5 Cut out a few crosses well but had no chance on Celtic’s winner. Callum Doyle – 7 Showed his vast experience (relative to most of his young teammates) to play from the back confidently. Mahamadou Susoho – 7.5 Put in some impressive challenges and never looked flustered on the ball. A really good audition. Maximo Perrone – 7.5 Struck gold with his first touch and added other moments of quality. Joel Ndala – 7 Looked a livewire with his willingness to attack a full-back, even if the end product wasn’t quite there. Jadel Katongo – 6 Passed from the back fairly well. Jacob Wright – 6 Tidy enough in central midfield. Ben Knight – N/A Micah Hamilton – N/A |

Stefan Ortega Helpless for the three goals that went past him, with fault lying ahead of him. But perhaps significant that he started ahead of Ederson. 6. Rico Lewis Smart in and out of possession, inverting into midfield in the new-look system that saw both full-backs pushing inside. 7 Luke Mbete Pushed up needlessly for the first goal and slightly out of position for the second and third. Replaced at half-time. 5 Jahmai Simpson-Pusey The Youth Cup-winning captain looked a little nervy on his first senior outing, and perhaps a little naive out of possession. But a great experience and one he will learn from. 6 Josh Wilson-Esbrand Asked to invert inside, he looked fine with the ball but Celtic targeted him without it and all three first half goals came on his side. Improved in the second half. 5 Kalvin Phillips Started the game by playing Ortega into trouble and was replaced at half-time having allowed Celtic to run through the midfield with ease. Often far to high up, leaving plenty of space in the position he should be in. 4 James McAtee Backed by Guardiola to shine this season, he struggled to influence the game on his first outing and was replaced at the break. Not a bad performance, but not a great one. 6 Nico O'Reilly A first senior game saw flashes of brilliance with an effort that hit the side netting, but also some moments where he took too long on the ball. Like Simpson-Pusey, a solid-enough start with the first team. 6 Oscar Bobb A goal he celebrated reluctantly, but he collected two fine assists - one mazy run to set up Perrone and another clipped cross for Haaland. He backed up his statement pre-match that he is in the right place and is ready to take his chance. 8 Jack Grealish No goals or assists, but played the decisive ball for the first and was involved in most attacks. A mature performance and one Guardiola will be pleased with. 7 Erling Haaland Would have had a hat-trick but for Kasper Schmeichel's heroics. Powered in a second-half header to delight the crowd. He looks ready to go this season after a summer off. 7 Subs Maximo Perrone (on 45) A smart finish for the goal immediately after half-time to build on his loan in La Liga last season. 7 Ederson (on 45) Very little to do and no chance for Celtic's fourth. 6 Mahamadou Susoho (on 45) Midfield looked much more secure in the second half. 6 Joel Ndala (on 45) Kept the full-back busy, one shot that was saved. 7 Jacob Wright (on 63) Some good touches. 6 Jadel Katongo (on 63) Decent defending but caught out for winner. 6 Ben Knight (on 66) Looked bright on the left. 6 Micah Hamilton (on 66) Played up front and looked lively. 6 |

Ederson – 6 A fine performance. Wasn’t at fault for any of the goals, and just unlucky in all three scenarios. Mahamadou Susoho – 5 Not a natural defender and that was arguably on full display. The Spanish midfielder wasn’t directly responsible for either of the first-half goals, but miscommunication with Jahmai Simpson-Pusey played a part. ahmai Simpson-Pusey – 5 It’s hard to blame a teenager getting forced into first-team action in a make-shift back line. The gap between him and Mahamadou Susoho was targeted twice in the first-half and the result was two goals conceded. Callum Doyle – 7 Doyle likely won’t stay with Manchester City this season but it’s clear there’s a quality player in there. Another year on loan will help give him the experience he needs because the technical quality is apparent. Rico Lewis – 6.5 It was a standard Rico Lewis performance; solid on the ball in midfield and slightly rushed in the final third. Operated in false-nine for the closing exchanges. Maximo Perrone – 6 Wasn’t as impactful as his performance against Celtic, but another solid display from the Argentine. He may just have to serve as cover for Rodri if no one is brought in this summer. Nico O’Reilly – 6 Had a few moments but it’s hard to shine when you’re forced into a disjointed midfield. James McAtee – 7 Scored a solid goal and threatened throughout. He’s continued to improve and might just prove to not be loan worthy, and instead play a part in Manchester City’s squad this season. Jack Grealish – 6.5 Was left isolated at times, and looked better in the second-half when he could drop deeper and let Micah Hamilton play wide. Already looks better than he did last season. Erling Haaland – 7 Did a great job on the opening goal, and probably could be been better on his missed chance gifted to him by the AC Milan back-line. Decent performance despite limited service. Oscar Bobb – 8 Was the best player on the pitch once again for Manchester City. This is his year. Substitutes Jaden Katongo – 6.5 Helped bring some needed stability to the back-line in the second-half. Josh Wilson-Esbrand – 6 Was a much better performance compared to the first-half against Celtic, that’s all that really needs to be said. Kalvin Phillips – 4 Alarming reaction after losing the ball on the edge of the box, confidence is completely shot. Micah Hamilton – 7 Probably not first-team quality but it’s clear he’s a solid player and a loan will serve him well. Jacob Wright – 6.5 Limited minutes but continues to look so smooth on the ball. Amar Fatah: N/A Notable praise from Pep Guardiola during his post-match press conference, though. Scott Carson: N/A Josko Gvardiol: N/A |

Ederson Recalled, and made captain, Pep Guardiola desperately wants Ederson to stay. He made two big stops early on, but will be massively disappointed to let two Lorenzo Colombo strikes through his body at the back post. He knows he can do better. 5 Mahamadou Susoho Played out of position at right-back, Susoho was fine with the ball - however Colombo twice got a free shot away at the back post with the full-back nowhere to be seen. Guardiola was gesturing instructions to him at a later stoppage in the hope it didn't happen for a third time. 6 Jahmai Simpson-Pusey The youngster was backed with another start, and was better than his debut vs Celtic. Still a little nervous at times, but held his own against some accomplished strikers. 6 Callum Doyle Did well to cover both centre-back and left-back on the narrow pitch at the Yankee Stadium. Showing what he's learned over the last three years out on loan and looks a confident player. 7 Rico Lewis Nominally a left-back, Lewis was inverting into midfield and supporting Perrone. Milan's first half goals came from his side. Despite that, he's started pre-season well. 6 Maximo Perrone With Phillips dropped, Perrone got a reward for a goal vs Celtic with a start. Guilty of abandoning his position a few times, however the midfield looked so much more secure so Perrone deserves some praise. 6 James McAtee It's a big summer for McAtee, who wants to stay and has the manager's backing. He says he must make an impact when he gets the chance. After a quiet first half followed a quiet opening game, McAtee was in the right place to nod home after Hamilton's cross to get his season up and running. 7 Nico O'Reilly A better performance than against Celtic, and held his position in midfield better, too. Encouraging. 6 Jack Grealish It's not been the most electric two games for a player with plenty of pressure on him. At the same time he's done little wrong. Played a bit more central, replacing Haaland as number nine in the second half, and did his job well. 6 Oscar Bobb Two assists and a goal in the first game, now a dazzling assist int he second. He almost scored a brilliant solo effort, and would have had another assist but for misses from Haaland and McAtee. 8 Erling Haaland The man they all came to see. Haaland had one thing to do all game and slotted home from Bobb's assist. It gave the fans the goal they wanted, but his half-time substitution meant the superstar was only involved for the first half. 7 Kalvin Phillips (on 45) Much, much better than the Celtic game - but still a few too many misplaced passes. At least he stayed in the general area of defensive midfield this time. One hairy moment. 6 Josh Wilson-Esbrand (on 45) Another who was much better this time, because he wasn't asked to invert. Helped create overloads with Hamilton on the left. 6 Micah Hamilton (on 45) Nice assist for McAtee and plenty of good intentions. 7 Jadel Katongo (on 45) Solid enough. 6 Jacob Wright (on 64) Better than his cameo against Celtic playing a little further forward. 6 Amar Fatah (on 67) One promising run into the area from the trialist, who must be the first trialist City have fielded in years. 6 Scott Carson (73) Moments after Ederson conceded a third, Carson got a rare run-out in a move that will be supremely popular among fans who love the cult-hero stopper. Kept a clean sheet. 7 Josko Gvardiol (73) Not much time to impact the game on his return to action, but played at centre-back which could be an interesting development to watch. 6 |

Player Ratings Ederson – 5 Did well to come and claim a few dangerous balls into the box, but not for the first time this tour, didn’t cover himself in glory with his shot stopping. Rico Lewis – 7.5 As always, ridiculously unflappable in possession. Could have looked a little more forward but still very impressive. Kalvin Phillips – 7.5 Some encouragement for City’s beleaguered man, in the 90 minutes at least. Passed and defended with equal assuredness, before seeing his penalty saved. Josko Gvardiol – 6.5 Straight back into his stride on the ball, picking out a lovely assist for O’Reilly’s goal. His defensive awareness did still seem a little rusty though, particularly in leaving a gap which was exploited on Barcelona’s opener. Josh Wilson-Esbrand – 7.5 Far more assured in his defensive actions than his previous start against Celtic, adding to it with some positive play in the Barcelona half. Mateo Kovacic – 8 Never missed a step. So comfortable in congested zones, and his assist for Grealish’s goal can only really be described as genius. Nico O’Reilly – 7 Still learning his way with when to try and beat the pressure on him and when to just keep it safe, resulting in some dicey moments. Clearly an extremely talented player though, showcased with great positioning and finishing to equalise. Oscar Bobb – 7 Not quite as productive as his previous two friendlies, and couldn’t quite make the right decision in some dangerous moments, but looked very bright again with his running at players. James McAtee – 6 Occasionally found space in the pockets but was too easily kept out of the game. Not his best outing of the tour. Jack Grealish – 8 (MOTM) Another strong showing from a forward who is certainly hungry to prove his worth this season. A goal for his efforts, and the captain’s armband for most of the second-half. Erling Haaland – 6.5 Perhaps incorrectly denied a goal when the ball had appeared to cross the line. Didn’t have much involvement otherwise, but got into good areas. Substitutes Stefan Ortega – 6.5 One moment of sharp sweeping was all he was really required to do. Maximo Perrone – 6.5 Drifted around the frontline and picked up some interesting zones, without ever influencing the game to a huge degree. Callum Doyle – 7 Called into action with a number of big blocks, most notably to track back and shut down Robert Lewandowski when the Pole was running clear in added time. Mahamadou Susoho – 6 Some misplaced long passes all to note. Jacob Wright – 6.5 One or two neat turns to alleviate pressure in the defensive third. Didn’t catch his penalty well. Amar Fatah – 6.5 Went on a few good drives with the ball. Composed penalty. Luke Mbete – 6.5 Made an effort to overlap and offer width in an unnatural left-back role. Micah Hamilton – 6 Popped up in and around the Barcelona box but couldn’t create anything. Jaden Heskey – N/A ps3 fanboy liked this post

Player Ratings Ederson Couldn't do much about the first goal, got a hand to the second. He was unconvincing against AC Milan and while this was better, it still wasn't Ederson at his best. 6 Rico Lewis Restored to right-back, Lewis was back to his classy self and displayed some silky footwork. Migrated into midfield in the second half. Having a good pre-season. 6 Josko Gvardiol Naive for the first goal in his old position of centre-back, but the reverse pass for O'Reilly's equaliser was brilliant. 6 Kalvin Phillips Under a lot of pressure having dropped into defence, and was a little wide for the Barcelona opener. But let's be fair - he was calm under pressure, kept position well and almost scored at the other end. 7 Josh Wilson-Esbrand Good going forward, maybe absent for the second Barcelona goal. Holding left-back down well in the absence of senior players. 6 Mateo Kovacic The midfield is just better when he is in it. The turn and run for Grealish's goal took six players out of the game. 7 Nico O'Reilly Still some mistakes, but he's growing into this tour nicely. A well-deserved and well-taken goal, with some important interceptions too. 7 James McAtee You don't often notice McAtee, but he's often just doing the basics right. Covered defenders who went forward. Nice link-up with fellow frontmen. 6 Oscar Bobb A quieter game than his previous two friendlies, but still a threat. One skillful run almost yielded another assist. 6 Jack Grealish He needed that goal. A few warnings in the first half went wide, until he kept calm and smashed into the top corner on the hour. Time to kick on now. 8 Erling Haaland His outstretched leg diverted the ball over the line, but a lack of goalline technology deprived him of a third goal in three games. Replaced at half-time for the second game running. 7 Stefan Ortega (on 45) A couple of hairy moments but far enough away from goal. 6 Maximo Perrone (on 45) Did nothing wrong, but didn't affect the game too much. 6 Mahamadou Susoho (on 65) Another useful run-out in defensive midfield. 6 Callum Doyle (on 65) One great challenge to deny Robert Lewandowski. 6 Jacob Wright (on 65) Interchanged with Susoho. 6 Amar Fatah (on 65) Two or three really good runs into the box. 6 Luke Mbete, Micah Hamilton, Jaden Heskey (75-85) All did okay, not much time to get involved. ps3 fanboy liked this post
