Hi all, wanna ask something about Hyundai services.
I bought my Elantra Sport 1.6 last month, during the car delivery, I noticed there are some defeat at the body kits. The agent promised to replace it on one to one basis once the stock are ready. Thus, I just drove the car home.

Today the service centre called me and told that the spare part is ready. However, it is requires the factory's workman for the installation. They set a date and time then request me to follow their time.

So now my queries are, as a customer, should I follow the date & time that set by them? shouldn't be they accommodate my schedule? Also, the reason that gave by them was that the part can only be installed by the factory's people, Hyundai Service Centre does not know how to install it. Thus, I must follow the time when the factory people is available.

Please advise. Thanks.

I get the same reason when I asked to check for noise coming from the car seat... Basically they are mechanics not those foreman handing accessories or bodykit.

Could it the sound from the side bosy kit? I noticecthe same sound from driver side too especially driving fast but when slow down, the sound gone. After i check the side body kit, the screw seems not fastern tight enough, i went to service centre for my 1st 1k service next day. They tighten the screw n the noise gone but due to i didn't check the condition they tight the screw, the sealant on the side body kit was broken a bit n look not so nice now. Will go check again once free.

I hv breaking issue, now even high speed or low speed breaking also seems not functioning well n caused some sound, the foreman said this was due the abs was functioning,  but problem is the abs also functioning in low speed n not doing any emergency break.

The foreman told me that he will reporting to the HQ n awaiting their HQ advised. Anyone facing some problem during car is very new? Mine is just 1k mileage

Yeah, few of us face the same issue where the skirting was not tightening properly and we've solved it few weeks ago. I've checked the skirting again once I heard the new noise but it's not loose. And the noise is different already. I might go HQ and check (together with brake issue) this coming weekend.

Today. When i drive at highway, sound come again once exeed 110km. If below 100km is ok. After reach home, immediately i check the right side skirting,  the screw is tight but the double side tape tape the skirting to the car body was peel off n i can even Pull the skirting off from the car body, i think this is where the sound come from during high speed. Will try to get others double side tape to tape the skirting.  Seems hyundai plant did not use good method in installing the skirting.

Anyone can advise better solution?

So far i hv 3 problems

1) brake system not functioning well n SA unable to solve it
2) side body skirting loose easily
3) suspension. Not stable during high speed. SA said if change absorber by hyundai will b using the same brand of absorber cannot help anything
*
I've the same issues as yours but not sure if the "tik tik" sound comes from the skirting. I suspect it comes from brake cover or rims instead of skirting, the sounds always there but get louder when the speed is higher (but sometime no noise). I can hear it more clearly with window winded down, you can try it.

After they tightening the skirting, I notice bigger gap between skirting and car body, I requested them to fix it, again, they send my car to foremen to double tape it.

For the 3rd problem, SC near Segambut will claim the chamber kit for me but it's more towards car alignment instead suspension and similar reply from them that only able to claim same brand absorbers. They suggested me to add R Bach Spring Buffer myself.

Done my 1st 1k service at RM149.50. Semi syn oil cost RM125, all others option care oil I don't take.
Don't know whether can bring our own fully syn oil for change during later 10k service or not. as Tesco sometime do offer Caltex or shell fully syn oil at RM120+, this is cheap compare to >RM200 at Hyundai SC.

Anyone did this before bringing their own engine oil for their service at Hyundai SC?
*
I remmber my semi syn oil only cost me around 110. And first 1k service cost me near 135only with 10%disc on parts. With disc is about 140.

spring buffer will not solve the sway issue, i installed 4 buffers, front and back. the problem still there.

if u guys are facing rattling noise or weird noise from driver side during high speed.. i think is the same issue i had at the banana leaf at the front tyre. let me know if after u fix the skirting still got this issue..
*
So far what I heard from others is that the buffer will minimize the sway issue but not completely solve it..but for price 80-90, I think it worth a try..

yyeap.. not fully solve.. the HQ ppl came and discussed me before during the time i complained abt the front driver side having rattle noise. they suggested me to install anti roll bar..haven install though but got members saying after install the anti roll bar much better. now im thinking of getting potent booster or shadow e drive to improve the pick up. need more comments from existing user though
*
That's weird, SC suggesting you to install thing that they say will void warranty (through email reply from Hyundai, they mentioned ARB and SB will void warranty of the affected area)...
Im waiting comments for potent booster which I tot you hv installed.

Really? But some user says the buffer does minimize the sway but not completely removing it.. plan to go HQ and check, see what their recommendations..

Hi xSean,

would you like to test the car and feel for yourself before jumping to such a scary conclusion?

every car make, every batch, sure got some cars with some issues, but i am happy to say, there's no HUGE issue that we cannot settle.

it is still a lovable car and i am sure everyone in here loves their cars. it's awesome to see more and more Elantras on the road now.  rclxms.gif

it is a matter of perfecting the ride.

let me know when is convenient for you to test drive. i am at your disposal at Glenmarie showroom. House/office call also can be arranged  biggrin.gif
Bryan, please remember to send me the email. I will ask Plentong for help.

Ekash & Titan, see you on Saturday!

I tried Eco mode off and full tank can only do around 450+ km. With Eco mode on can do around 480+. Without Eco mode on the acceleration is better lah :). Mine is a 1.6 sports

Oh who wants to test out Hanns Plus can let me know. I want to let go :)

Oh btw have anyone tested using D to drive and then while driving switch to semi auto? Can direct change or need to press the brake?
*
Waiting white rat? Yeah, can change mode straight away else it fail to serve its purpose..

went to SC this morning. They checked and said that it was the side skirting. Requires tightening but when tighten, created a gap between the body and skirting. Have to go again on Mon as they have arranged for the manufacturer to fix it. Sigh. But no rattling sound alrdy, for now.
*
I didnt went to HQ as Laura mentioned that they will only take my car on weekday to solve all my issues. Tried my luck with few SC but also giving me the same reason.

They tighten my skirting and same thing happened like yours, create bigger gap between car body n skirting. then they send it to double tape again.. they just drive my car to foreman nearby (which they called these shops as the authorised foremen for Hyundai.)

But now I have new rattling sound which I dont think is coming from skirting.

thank you ..... will it void car warranty and should i buy the whole set... sorry a bit noob here

This the reply I get from Hyundai 2 months ago when asking them about ARB and SB:

We would like to inform you that any modification would void the warranty coverage for the tempered area only. The warranty for other areas are still remaining. We do not recommend modifying the vehicle as we do not know whether it would cause any un-natural wear and tear to certain parts in the future. Nevertheless, you may refer to any our Hyundai authorized service centers in your area to get an advice with regards to that matter. They may advise you accordingly on the installation of these front strut bar and rear anti-roll bar into your vehicle.

Thanks balls-of-steel for the kind explanation. Quoted slightly less than 700 for both but incline to only install the rear ARB. Will get it done one of these wkends..

Quite vague and generic eh Ekash? What if SC suggests to install, will it then void the warranty? 50/50 on this.

Anyways, an update on the rattling sound from the skirting. So wifey help send in the car today at Glenmarie. Got the car back in the late afternoon and i test drove just now. So far, so good. Rattling sound is gone. But will test on higher speed just to confirm. Theres a down side tho, the installation of the right skirting is a bit cacat compared to the left side. Right side didnt really follow the "bodyline", maybe off by less than 1cm. Oh well, cant be too fussy i suppose.
*
That's is their standard reply with only minor changes on the last few sentences when I ask them on warranty issue regarding the installation of the following items:
1. Head unit
2. pedal lock
3. anti roll bar and strut bar

SC suggested me to install spring buffer myself, but he mentioned that when come to claim warranty, must make sure those thing are removed.

Hi everybody..I'm a proud owner of 9 months 1.8 white elantra. Just did my 20k service at the new SC in Kota Damansara which is under Sime Darby. Before that i try to ask my previous SC in Setapak which is dealer to quote price for 20k and gave me like RM650-700. They told need to change spark plug but SDSC inform no need to change as mine is using iridium. So just be careful and always ask first before go.

Have a nice day...Cheers rclxms.gif  rclxm9.gif

Hi guys,

My right passenger window of my 2013 1.6 Elantra was smashed and I need it replaced. Damn thieves. I need some advice from all of you:

1) Any reliable shop to replace? I live near Subang Airport.

2) What kind of window I need so that it is the same as the stock window?

3) Price range?

Thanks guys.
*
Last I heard frim Hyundai SC, they quote about RM 280 (if not mistaken) for an elantra to replace its broken window passenger side but at the back). Not sure the quality and brand, but since is quoted by SC (but performed by outsider), so it should be same brand as original and can be cheaper if you find the glass urself from shop outside. But bad part is tinting.
