My father suffered heart attack last year and I hired a maid to take care of him.
I am still confused if I can claim a deduction up to RM 5,000.

Seems no website can clarify this and till date, cant get to contact LHDN.

I strongly suggest to email them for clarification. At least you will get a "black & white" email response from them in order to protect yourself should they reject your "claim" in case they audit you in future.

Goto their website www.hasil.gov.my
Click on the tab "Maklum Balas" > "Borang Maklum Balas Pelanggan"
A new page will be displayed.
Click on the tab "Taxation Inquiry" > "Individual Taxation"

In my case my wife was hospitalised but they said I CANNOT claim for it. However I was allow to claim for those medical examination fees only. They actually called me via phone the next day & clarify over the phone. Upon my request they responded my inquiry via email. At least I get a "black & white" response.

Another case was I enquired regarding whether the Ogawa ezTone was classified as "Sports Equipment" & I got positive response from them too.

Attached are the sample of the replies from them.

P/S I actually scanned all the documents & bills & attached with my email in order to facilitate them to response.

I have receipt for my father's medical examination fee in BP Lab. The girl at BP Lab told me it is tax-deductible as parents' medical expenses; but based on the description on hasil website, I'm not very sure if it really fits the criteria......

Took 1 month fo refund with cheque.
Many people refund via IBG in 2 weeks only.

May be refund with cheque took longer time

For tax refund purposes, they bank in directly to you

Hi,

I wanted to ask the dividends we received from unit trusts, how do we know how much we can claim back for the tax paid by the fund house because I read somewhere it says the tax they paid at 25% but we individuals have not reach that tax bracket yet so we are eligible to claim back the tax difference.

Please advice.

Thanks
