it seems like you focus and spend more time at Jeju attractions while Seoul focus on shopping and food?  tongue.gif

but your Jeju trip go many hiking & mountain.. look hectic but since in Seoul you just opt for shop n food shouldn't be an issue lor.. go try out all their food & cafe!! thumbup.gif

Hi guys,

me n wife (just two of us) planning to visit korea maybe in May next year, and i haven't done any research yet like place to visit, where to stay etc etc.
is it cheaper just to go by ourself (backpackers) or it is recommended to use travel agent?
i have found a travel agent that doing backpakers style trip, that cost rm 999 for ground transportation. it is a 5 days 4 night trip. as per their itinerary, they will visit Seoul and Nami island.

Is it worth it? or cheaper to travel by ourselves, i mean including the hassle to find accommodation, any tickets, or direction. Thanks

Hi Batai, it really depends on where you wanna go in Seoul. We family of 5 went there early October for 6 days average out the cost is around RM2k per pax (including Flight, Accommodation, Subway, Food & Entrance Fees).

And my itinerary:-

1st day-
Lotte Mart
Hongdae

2nd day-
Gwanghwamun Square
Cheonggyecheon Stream
Myeondong
N Seoul Tower

3rd day -
Bukchon Village
Gyeongbokgung Palace
Insadong & Ssamziegil & Alive Museum

4th day -
Kintex Exhibition - My Love From The Star
Myeondong

5th day
Nami Island
Myeondong (Last minute shopping)
Lotte Mart

We didn't make it to some of the places we would actually like to go but really not enough time to do so i.e, Noryangjin Market / War Museum / Namdaemun / Ehwa Uni... I hope this helps you a bit on your planning.

Long john would be overkill.
Just a sweater or jacket is enough.
I still wear short sleeves sometimes.
But cold tolerance differ from people to people. tongue.gif

Hello cynthusc!

I'll be heading to seoul from 10th till 20th November..

Was reading around and YongPyong is available during that period..

Since I've never ski-ed there before I was wondering is it better to get a tour or just a d-i-y itinerary will do? I'm not really fluent in korean which I think might be a big problem sad.gif

Thank you so much for your time tongue.gif

Hi Calvin,

Sorry for the late reply.

I have never taken a tour because it costs more and they tend to rush you through? How many days do you plan to ski? What is your budget? Budget trip, medium cost or luxury? How many in your party?

If it is budget, you can stay in Hoenggye and travel to the ski resorts to ski. If you have a higher budget then you can stay at the resort. Do give me additional info so that I can give you some tips.

I'll be spending Xmas and New year at Seoul this year. Anybody has recommendations? Like special events and stuff like that.
*
Hi there! I will be there during Christmas too! Last year I was there as well and they have special concerts at City Hall. You should also check out the parades at Everland as they make it special on Christmas Day. Christmas Day is more like a day for lovers rather than a religious holiday in SK.

Anybody who has come back from Korea lately can please report on the state of the autumn foliage? Are the leaves all brown and yellow by now?
