you are traveling solo and backpacking style? when is your travel date?

yup actually it all depends on personal preferences. as for me, i luv to explore n spent more on food, buying stuffs..  a little on a better accommodation so expenses will be higher  tongue.gif

coming oct i will travel to seoul again plus add busan into my trip. well is my 3rd time to seoul hehe
*
I'm traveling with my boyfriend and two friends, but backpacking. Will be flying to Busan on the 23rd of October. Normally I spend on street food coz' I enjoy visiting markets to observe the local culture during traveling. Accommodation-wise I normally opt for guesthouses since I'd only be back at night to sleep before waking up early again the next day.

we go almost the same time.. i will be flying to Busan on 20th of Oct biggrin.gif btw, if you and your friends are afraid of cold, it's advisable to wear long john. body lotion and face moisturizer is a must as korea autumn is quite harsh.

budget maybe around 5-6K excluding air ticket. Is it consider low budget?
around 5-6 days

Should be enough I guess. You might want to try Seoul I Guesthouse in Hongdae. My friends have been there and they said that the place was nice. The hostel aggregator sites' reviews are more often than not helpful to decide which hostel is good. hmm.gif

My suggestion is at least a down jacket coupled with tight, breathable underwear (long john of some sort). The heattech lines from Uniqlo are quite alright. hmm.gif

haha,i used the subway to get around most of the time,1150 won per trip icon_idea.gif
food like bbq pork/beef would be from 8000~18000 won, while seafood steamboat is a little exp IMO,cost me about 45000 won.
street food usually cost about 1000 won to 3000 won.

best part is,soju is cheaper than instant noodle, only 1100 won brows.gif

Wow. I'm only planning to allocate RM2K max for my expenses there (not inclusive of return flight tickets from Malaysia and Jeju). Will be covering Busan, Jeju and Seoul for 8D7N. Not going to rent car in Jeju as my sole purpose there is to climb Mt. Halla.
*
I climbed Halla mountain before, hope you will enjoy it!
If you planned for halla mountain, I doubt you will have much energy to go around in Jejeu anymore. I will suggest to make it at the end of the trip so at least u got energy to go around in Seoul and Busan.
If you're having 3D2N, I suggest stationed at north part, go visit the mountain, the beach and illhucbong, udo (both east part, must go!)
You can survive with 2k, provided that you're not shopingholic and don't nid to spend much on souvenir

Thanks for your suggestion! Unfortunately I bought plane tickets for Jeju in the middle of my trip (Busan - Jeju - Seoul) but I did not plan much for Jeju as my sole purpose there is to climb Mt. Halla. Hopefully it won't be too tiring for me, been training my stamina at the gym for a month now. The only way I can visit the rest of the attractions in Jeju is if it rains and I have no way to climb the mountain in the weather.

I seldom go shopping when I travel, and I try to keep my spending on souvenirs as little as possible each trip. Your assurance that I can survive with 2k gives me hope smile.gif

I see, You're going to the top 1.9km or the middle top 1.7km? If you heading to 1.9km the road are not easy and very long, guess you'll be exhausted. If 1.7km then quite ok. Last time I backpack and bring along my backpack to hill.
However I still think you should travel to Illchubong area, very nice especially if u got plan to watch sunrise.
Keep in mind that Jeju has similar size with S'pore, and the bus is not so frequent, so plan very carefully. The bus is quite punctual so don't worry.

check this map-http://allaboutjeju.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/jejuintercitybusroute1.jpg

Does your 2k exlcude accmon? If not guess you'll have to sleep at guesthouse..

I plan to ascend via Seongpanak and descend via Gwaneumsa, the routes to the crater. I will try to fit in Illchubong into my itinerary as I'd already planned one full day for Mt. Halla climb and the day before and after would be the days I'd need to catch my flights. Thanks for the map by the way, easier for my route planning now as I'd always been confused of the bus routes in Jeju when planning my itinerary.

Yup, my 2k would include my accommodation (already booked guesthouses for my entire Korea trip, only RM400/pax for 8D7N). Actually tried guesthouses whenever I travel overseas so I have no issues with staying in one smile.gif

ok, means you're heading to the top hill..the view will be damn nice if inside got water, but if no...haha...
One day is sufficient, try to get the 1st bus depart from the station, check the time table.

oh, you have booked? If not you can try jimjibang.I spent quite some time in jimjibang during my backpack, 1 of the best way to save money, though not everyone can handle that.haha

Will do, thank you for your kind suggestion!

Yup, I have booked all my accommodation in Korea. I did consider sleeping overnight at the jimjibang for the experience, but being the light sleeper that I am I figured I'd be very tired if I were to do so. How was the experience? Was it awkward having to undress in the presence of so many people?
