That's how you should set your mindset when travelling... use dollar-to-dollar comparison (drop the currency).
Or else you won't be able to eat or drink or buy anything in your overseas travels.
*
This is soooo true. I've lived in Korea for my education before and during the first few weeks I still converted the prices to my native currency. Then I decided to just think like a Korean and spend my money like a normal Korean university student. From then onwards, things were more enjoyable. thumbup.gif

im going to Seoul this coming 16-22 June.

i go there for meeting at Seoul only.

so any recommended place MUST visit in Seoul?

or any near by interest place shall i visit?
*
What kind of traveler are you? Seoul provides some spots for different types of travelers. If you're like me, then you might want to go to their National Museum or probably Gyeongbokgung Palace. Seoul Tower might also be a good place to visit. If you're on the younger side, you might also want to consider experiencing the night life in Hongdae or Itaewon. If you're into amusement park, then there's always the Lotte World. nod.gif

hi im planning to go korea in June 2015, is the weather very hot that time? if compared to malaysia?
*
According to my experience, the weather will be hot. The thing is since it's not really humid in Korea, you might feel that it's hotter compared to Malaysia. Shorts and cool t-shirts will probably be your best friends while traveling during that time. rolleyes.gif

anyone know the weather forecast website for seoul and busan?
*
You can always use google for that. Just type "weather <city>". If you want to be more accurate (and are able to read Hangeul), go to Naver Weather. nod.gif

Hi guys, for autumn/winter wear, the price in Korea is cheaper/not much difference/ more expensive than Malaysia?

Reason for asking is I decided to not buy any additional sweaters/jackets since it's only fall. Will layer instead. But just in case it gets really cold I think I'll just buy something there.
*
Last time I bought a down jacket in Korea's Uniqlo, it was KRW 60,000 and during fall season. But that's like 2 years ago. I'm not sure about the price in Malaysia though. hmm.gif

I'm not sure either but sounds reasonable. Probably cheaper if I buy from street stores?
*
Might be, I'm not really sure. I never bought clothes from distros or street stores during my life in Korea. But then again, if you buy in chains like Uniqlo, at least you'll get the assurance of quality. hmm.gif

Impromptu vacation to Seoul coming end of Sept. Rush to plan and study across the threads now.

Any good accommodation to recommend in shinchon/hongdae area? Going with gf.

Any places should not be missed around the area? Going 7d6n and not planning to go far from Seoul. Thanks.
*
Mr. Kim's Friends Guesthouse is quite cool. You can ask for a private room for you and your girl also. If my memory doesn't fail me, it's located on the other side of Hongdae's subway station (not the bustling part of Hongdae), but it's not far. hmm.gif

Might depend on who're you're traveling with and what means of transportation you're planning to take between those places. hmm.gif

budget maybe around 5-6K excluding air ticket. Is it consider low budget?
around 5-6 days

Should be enough I guess. You might want to try Seoul I Guesthouse in Hongdae. My friends have been there and they said that the place was nice. The hostel aggregator sites' reviews are more often than not helpful to decide which hostel is good. hmm.gif

ok. so i need to wear like 2-3 clothes?
*
My suggestion is at least a down jacket coupled with tight, breathable underwear (long john of some sort). The heattech lines from Uniqlo are quite alright. hmm.gif

theres nothing much to offer in korea compared to Europe. I only think of korean girls when it comes to korea
*
Hi there troll-ish member, it all depends on your style of traveling. I found a lot of things interesting in Korea, that's probably I ended up living there for almost 2 years. But hey, preference is always there, isn't it? wink.gif

I mean, food is expensive, transportation, etc,
and theres basically nothing much of historical or interesting site to visit.
korea is only known for the beauty ok kpop, or perhaps the snow or winter sonata.
*
You just need to dig deeper, bro. Explore Busan, Gwangju, Jeonju, or Jeju for the culture. It might be the case of disinterest from your part, which is okay since it's basically preference. But comparing Korea to Europe and saying that things in Korea are expensive is simply not fair. sweat.gif

It's different compared to Malaysian plug. Similar to Indonesian, if you've been there. CMIIW. hmm.gif

Hi, I might going Seoul end of March till early of April. Can I know how's the weather?
I'm planing to go Jeju from Busan.
From KUL to BUSAN airport from Busan airport can I fly to Jeju?
Izit same airport? Need some double confirm, afraid they have two Busan airport.

For stay at seoul, myeongdong/gangnam/dongdaemun better?
Any recommended pls? Tq
*
Quick googling on "Busan" reveals that it's only served by Gimhae Int'l Airport. So that took care of one of your questions. The other question regarding weather can be answered by googling "Seoul" as well. According to Wikipedia, it might range from 2-18 centigrade with average of 5-13 centigrade. Again, it's from Wikipedia, so make sure to check the weather forecasts as your days closing in. laugh.gif

As for the place to stay in Seoul, it depends on what you want to do or where you want to go in Seoul. hmm.gif

hi all, i know this is kinda last minute haha, but will anyone be in Seoul from 29/3 to 11/4. I'll be going alone from KL but will be visiting a korean friend on some days during the whole trip. so yeah would be very glad if i could find a travel companion or 2...! And since I'm going alone, its safe to say I'm kinda planless on what to do there and would be moving according to the situation hahaha
*
Interesting. I will be in Korea until April 1-12. You're in Korea already, right? If you're like me, then you might want to check out Seoul Motor Show in KINTEX, they hold the event from April 3-12. I'm actually planning to go seeing sakura blossoms on April 4 with my friend. Still haven't finished my itinerary tho. hmm.gif

Just got back from Korea last Sunday for a business trip. Finally added a new visited city: Chuncheon. A very small city if you compare it to Seoul, but it has quite some picturesque tourist spots from what I read in the city's bus terminal. Too bad I didn't get to visit any spots due to time constraint. sweat.gif

Oh! Yeah, the dakgalbi there was so good! And you know the way they put rice just before we finish all the dakgalbi to make bokkeumbab with the leftovers? It was also good! thumbup.gif
