Wow. I'm only planning to allocate RM2K max for my expenses there (not inclusive of return flight tickets from Malaysia and Jeju). Will be covering Busan, Jeju and Seoul for 8D7N. Not going to rent car in Jeju as my sole purpose there is to climb Mt. Halla.
*
I climbed Halla mountain before, hope you will enjoy it!
If you planned for halla mountain, I doubt you will have much energy to go around in Jejeu anymore. I will suggest to make it at the end of the trip so at least u got energy to go around in Seoul and Busan.
If you're having 3D2N, I suggest stationed at north part, go visit the mountain, the beach and illhucbong, udo (both east part, must go!)
You can survive with 2k, provided that you're not shopingholic and don't nid to spend much on souvenir

I see, You're going to the top 1.9km or the middle top 1.7km? If you heading to 1.9km the road are not easy and very long, guess you'll be exhausted. If 1.7km then quite ok. Last time I backpack and bring along my backpack to hill.
However I still think you should travel to Illchubong area, very nice especially if u got plan to watch sunrise.
Keep in mind that Jeju has similar size with S'pore, and the bus is not so frequent, so plan very carefully. The bus is quite punctual so don't worry.

check this map-http://allaboutjeju.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/jejuintercitybusroute1.jpg

Does your 2k exlcude accmon? If not guess you'll have to sleep at guesthouse..

Thanks for your suggestion! Unfortunately I bought plane tickets for Jeju in the middle of my trip (Busan - Jeju - Seoul) but I did not plan much for Jeju as my sole purpose there is to climb Mt. Halla. Hopefully it won't be too tiring for me, been training my stamina at the gym for a month now. The only way I can visit the rest of the attractions in Jeju is if it rains and I have no way to climb the mountain in the weather.

I seldom go shopping when I travel, and I try to keep my spending on souvenirs as little as possible each trip. Your assurance that I can survive with 2k gives me hope  smile.gif

I plan to ascend via Seongpanak and descend via Gwaneumsa, the routes to the crater. I will try to fit in Illchubong into my itinerary as I'd already planned one full day for Mt. Halla climb and the day before and after would be the days I'd need to catch my flights. Thanks for the map by the way, easier for my route planning now as I'd always been confused of the bus routes in Jeju when planning my itinerary.

Yup, my 2k would include my accommodation (already booked guesthouses for my entire Korea trip, only RM400/pax for 8D7N). Actually tried guesthouses whenever I travel overseas so I have no issues with staying in one  smile.gif
*
ok, means you're heading to the top hill..the view will be damn nice if inside got water, but if no...haha...
One day is sufficient, try to get the 1st bus depart from the station, check the time table.

oh, you have booked? If not you can try jimjibang.I spent quite some time in jimjibang during my backpack, 1 of the best way to save money, though not everyone can handle that.haha

Will do, thank you for your kind suggestion!

Yup, I have booked all my accommodation in Korea. I did consider sleeping overnight at the jimjibang for the experience, but being the light sleeper that I am I figured I'd be very tired if I were to do so. How was the experience? Was it awkward having to undress in the presence of so many people?
*
You're welcome. Let me know if you need any help. I somehow survived in korea...haha

er..at first was quite awkward, but after few times ok la.sometime i travel at smalltown whereby a bit though to find guesthouse, so i overnight in jimjibang..it is quite good experience. Eventhough the sleeping quality is not good, but you feel great when put urself in the bath and sauna after a long day.

Hi, I found RM2300/pax for MAS flight ticket in end of December. It's cheap? Should I buy or wait for promotion?
*
That's consider quite normal rate. The cheapest I saw be4 in AA is around 500-600 for roundtrip, but even if you only wanna choose mars, the price is not really cheap either.. Last time my friends bought single trip ticket around 1.2k-1.4k

If you are not a shopper- day 3 is quite free, but if yes then the schedule is ok.
Day 5-nami island i personally feel nothing much, you can still go if you want, but purposely go there and come back make me feel not worth, but not sure how autumn looks .
better arrange few more days for banpo, cuz nt everytime you can see, depend on weather, wind direction and etc.
I tried 3 days and yet cnt see

1 day dongdaemun? you must shop a lot XD
why 1 whole day for sokcho? seoul to sokcho tooks 2hours+ only..you can go there on morning, reach there late afternoon, and still got time to go to the observatory, baech, aba village and etc, and next day go seoraksan.

You got quite flexible time, best if you can try go jeju, haha

QUOTE(AIAF @ Sep 5 2014, 01:04 AM)
Going for 14 days this end of Oct. My rough itinerary so far, solo+free&easy so it will be very flexible. Have yet to confirm any accommodation so that will affect the itinerary as well.

Still wondering if I should slot in Seoraksan in the middle of my Seoul part of the trip, then get KTX to Busan. Or to follow this schedule and get on an overnight bus.

Well, if you're not a shopper, myeongdong, dongdaemun, nandaemun gt nth much actually..anyway seoul is all about shopping .lol..
maybe you can go gangnam area walk walk as well
Try talk with the guesthouse owner then, haha,u staying where?

Sokcho wise if you hvn book accom, try The house, quite nice and good rate, free bicycle rental somemore.

why not budget friendly for solo travel? Though I went with another 2 persons, but we stay at dorm, take public bus, maybe food there a little bit troublesome though..

but busan wise i think quite similar with seoul also, except the beach, the temple, the color village..
nearby wise ulsan is an industrial town, only go if you interested. Gyeongju is a historical city, but for me nth much as well.

You prefer city (shopping, food) or prefer outskirt (mountain, sea)?

QUOTE(AIAF @ Sep 5 2014, 01:24 PM)
No I'm not a shopper (no budget anyway *cough*). Mainly food seeker. 1 day dongdaemun is cause I'm not sure what else to put there, maybe just chill around the area and revisit some places that I really liked or missed before? I'm actually hoping for some recommendations from anyone that I meet when I get there haha.

1 day Sokcho also just a rough plan for now, since there's commute involved try not to cram too much stuff to stress myself out. But your suggestion sounds good, will move it around.

Jeju's not really budget friendly for solo travel, hopefully I can go there someday with a small group. icon_idea.gif

Will consider to add more stuff to Seoul itinerary, or cut it short by a day hmmm

I see. You can try save few days in jimjibang. If you're not having big luggage then that could be great experiences..and the price is cheaper than guesthouse

The house is quite good, actually perhaps the only choice for backpacker.the facilities, owner, everything is nice. I made friends with some korean girls there as well drool.gif

indeed, better if you got car. what i did is that I do backpack and stay at diff part of jeju everyday so that I can save transportation time. Rent car wise, any1 of you have international license? If not quite troublesome as well. Anyway that's up to you.hehe

Both busan and seoul got many guesthouse to choose, so not a problem..taejongdae is a must go in Busan. Other than that, haeundae beach and apex might be not bad if u r free..

QUOTE(AIAF @ Sep 5 2014, 02:57 PM)
Lol I understand, but I'm quite a chill person so I can just walk/sit around, get some food and watch people.

Not sure where to stay yet, cause I'm waiting a few more weeks to try my luck at couchsurfing. Will be a combo of guesthouse and cs-ing. (most people dont accept requests too early)

The House looks nice! Might get it for my one night in Sokcho, thanks for the recommendation.  rclxms.gif

I love both city and nature, but as you said Seoul and Busan is enough for city already. So I'm still researching on more outskirts area. Historical places can be nice, but sometimes can look the same after a few, so wont be checking out every single one of them la.

I feel like Jeju is best if you can rent a car with a few people and go out explore on your own.

Added in my Busan itinerary. For Busan I'm aiming HiKorea for accomodation.

hi all,

thinking of going korea.

what's the price range for AAX to seoul/busan during the promo period previously? wanna see the difference in fare and whether should wait or not etc.

thanks a lot
*
very subjective..last time flight to busan in march around RM 400+, while cmg bk from ICN at july cost around there as well...There is always cheap flight available, but whether your schedule and the scenario (maple leaves, or summer festival, or whatever) can make it or not..so unless you got a very flexible schedule, just take the 1 u feel acceptable..

*

True! But my friend is abit of an antisocial I guess haha. Hmm you mean guesthouses in Busan? Is it better to stay near the Busan Station or if I choose to stay near Haeundae I can still get arpund easily right? Thanks ya haha
*
haha, not only in Busan, I have been quite a lot of places in korea and I can meet people around the world at any city.haha

hmm..the main spot of busan includes haeundae, seomyeon, nampo/jaga, n the culture village, and maybe the temple at north if u like ancient temple..if u stay in busan station it is like at the middle of all these lo..but the subway of busan qutie ok, so don't worry, as long as the place u stay can access to subway easily then is fine biggrin.gif

*

google up will giv u a lot of tips and experiences, especially from china n taiwan blogger..
seoul wise quite standard la, dongdaemun, nandaemun, jingfu palace, hongdae, sancundong, gangnam, itaewon
there is a travel guide with map in the seoul tourism office, n normally available in your guesthouse too, grab that and only plan oso no big deal
jeju wise a bit troublesome, but the standard place are ilchubong, niudo, green tea farm, hallasan, beach..o u can try olle road if you like adventure..

Majority of the time will be at Seoul, but will spend a little time at for Searoksan, then Gwangju and Busan.

Yea I think I'll not rent/reserve an egg. Worse case scenario I'll get those one day internet passwords from their convenient stores (read about that).  laugh.gif
*
woo, why are you heading to gwangju? Eventhough I was in gwangju for quite some time, I can't think of place worth to travel so far to visit XD
If you depart from sokcho, u can try drop by gyeongju or daegu, and head to busan later on

To be honest I feel like whenever I suggest any other place other than Seoul one of you guys will say that there's nothing there hahaha. But I still appreciate all the advices. thumbup.gif

I guess I don't mind just chilling and sight seeing la XD

Gwangju rough itinerary:

Gwangju - Day 1
Bulguksa Temple
Daeneungwon
Anapji pond

Gwangju - Day 2
Gyeongju City Tour Bus
*
ar~ my friend, the place you're refering is GYEONGJU, not GWANGJU ,

please write it down and show to the staff when u wanna buy ticket, else you might go different place..hahaha
gyeongju is a historical city, I went there once..bulguksa temple quite far from the city, Daereungwon inside basically is a tomb only,,anapji night go only nice...

Just got back from Korea last Sunday for a business trip. Finally added a new visited city: Chuncheon. A very small city if you compare it to Seoul, but it has quite some picturesque tourist spots from what I read in the city's bus terminal. Too bad I didn't get to visit any spots due to time constraint. sweat.gif

went there purposely for dakgalbi..too bad only stay there for 1 night, didn't manage to explore much
