I'm a bit puzzled here. With the regional warranty in effect, if the console bought is from

a) the countries part of the regional warranty program
b) and the consoles themselves have been launched there officially
c) the serial numbers are correct

then the term "grey import" ceases to be relevant, doesn't it?
*
Exactly. I was thinking the same thing. hmm.gif

From the explanation, this seems to be more of a retailer/supplier issue. Like Sony Malaysia "punishes" you for not buying from approved sellers, but Sony Asia accepts your hardware registration.

Like Lord_Ashe mentioned, if the serial numbers are correct, and of correct region, and it is accepted by the system, I would like to think that I am covered and have the same rights as any official Sony Product customer, yeah?

I hope someone can give a clearer logical explanation on this. Much appreciated. thumbup.gif

I stand guided by Sony Asia's postings on their website (I too bought from AGC E-Curve). At the very least, I am 100% sure my console is covered by Regional Warranty (as proven by my successful registration of my serial number). I do understand that Sony Malaysia reserves the right to be a d**k about it, and if they do, I suppose I'll try to reach Sony Asia and get THEM to explain.

As long as your set is under SEA warranty cover then who cares where you bought from. Just send your problem ps4 to sony malaysia / singapore depends where you register your ps4.

Exactly. Couldn't have said it better.

You should only be worried if when registering your console, it says that it has already been registered or something. sweat.gif

Ohh..in terms of service only ke. Weird. But hey, as long as I'm still covered for the standard 1 + 3 months I'm happy already.  smile.gif

Yes, you are covered but Sony Malaysia will be a d*ck about it by taking their own sweet time to service your warranty, as you can see from the BLOD thread.

Seriously? You guys want to start this argument and framing those who did not buy from SONY outlet? Saying that if don't like SONY service then change service?

Wow, now I do understand why our gaming community is far way from others.

Hey, guys.

Not sure asked before but previously based on my knowledge, i thought we can only activate one PSN account as Primary in one system.
Let me try to clarify some misunderstandings here.

U activate HK account as primary on your PS4 so that MY and all other accounts on that PS4 can play the content downloaded by HK account.

U bought AC4 from MY. Only be playable by MY account unless you also activate MY account as primary on your PS4.

U did that and that's what happened. Working as designed.
You check HK account, still it is primary. Also working as designed.

The fact is,

You can activate each SEN (PSN) account as Primary only 1 PS4 system per account.

You can also have multiple SEN accounts activate as Primary on 1 PS4 system (even accounts from other regions - luckily they allowed this)

Deactivate your Primary activated PS4
If you replace/decommission your old PS4, you will need to deactivate your Primary activations so that you can activate as Primary on the new PS4

Check out the links below.

http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en...activation.html

and

https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answ...etail/a_id/5059

Hope that helps.

You must be talking about this guys here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3074207

All of them did not buy from Sony Malaysia & got the balls to complain about the appalling service they get when they went to claim warranty.

I heard from someone at the Curve that regional warranty only applies if you bought PS4 from Sony Stores or authorized dealers in SEA & not from some ah beng shop like qishan or whatever they call themselves.

This is what happens when you buy on impulse just to save money. (pun intended) tongue.gif

er....i think is the people who work in SONY MY will act like that?

For example, i bought from Lazada, and then suddenly my console got problem, so I will send it to SONY MY store for repair since it is covered by the regional warranty. So SONY MY is responsible for the repairs.

But the workers in SONY MY have a do not care attitude and take their sweet time to do this and that.

I do not think it is because we people who buy from other stores will be treated like that. I think it is the people who work in SONY MY will be like that. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The most appropriate attitude we expect from SONY MY people is, whether or not we buy from the official SONY MY store or other store, if the console is covered by the warranty, it is expected to be fixed as soon as possible and send back to the user.

You must exercise caution which trader that you are buying from, you need to know their policies.

In cases where they give you stories like they also cannot do anything, blah blah...that's your cue to leave the shop.
Support only reputable sellers that can give prompt service and support.

Be mindful when you get quoted PS4 Asia machine (Hong Kong also in Asia).
If you got yourself a Hong Kong PS4, then you won't have regional warranty in South East Asia.
