I'm a bit puzzled here. With the regional warranty in effect, if the console bought is from
a) the countries part of the regional warranty program
b) and the consoles themselves have been launched there officially
c) the serial numbers are correct
then the term "grey import" ceases to be relevant, doesn't it?
Exactly. I was thinking the same thing. a) the countries part of the regional warranty program
b) and the consoles themselves have been launched there officially
c) the serial numbers are correct
then the term "grey import" ceases to be relevant, doesn't it?
From the explanation, this seems to be more of a retailer/supplier issue. Like Sony Malaysia "punishes" you for not buying from approved sellers, but Sony Asia accepts your hardware registration.
Like Lord_Ashe mentioned, if the serial numbers are correct, and of correct region, and it is accepted by the system, I would like to think that I am covered and have the same rights as any official Sony Product customer, yeah?
I hope someone can give a clearer logical explanation on this. Much appreciated.
