hmm.gif To my knowledge:

W = oil viscosity under cold temperatures (winter level)
30/40 = oil viscosity under normal/hot working temperature

That's just my simple understanding though. You can google for more information.

Haiz, yesterday at 11pm, gua go knock onto a bmw x3, damage his rear bumper. My bonnet and front bumper damaged, radiator assumed kena since got a bit of water come out. Have to kena chop and pay RM150 for immediate tow to police station do report. When towing back to klang later, I think tow truck scratch/bend my undamaged front skirting, no don't know can claim or not. RM150 for "discounted" summon and RM50 for immediate report issued (rather) then come to balai later.

Losing my 55% ncd coz of the bmw x3 rear bumper cost almost 2K or so, not to mention my car repair cost should be around 1.5K kuah..

All in all I truly POKAI liao....both meaning also can...1st pokai meaning, empty pocket, 2nd pokai meaning in Cantonese...

Follow to close....but bmw 4wd in front, so cannot see further up ahead when they all brake hard (2 other cars in front also bang).

Brake but tyre skid, its partly too close, too fast but one condition added to it....my tyre thread only slightly above minimum indicator thus for NCT5, the braking strength of the tyres are already reduced to less than 50%. Just discovered that a few days ago and intend to change this weekend or next to Yokohama CD2.

Now pokai already. The so-called insurance payment is not really free for me coz I calculated...its almost the same amt with my lost NCD 55% if when calculated for the next 5 years to reach back 55%. So its just a 5 years instalment payment for me, meaning I still have to pay for my lost AND the bmw ones over 5 years period instead.

If you really want to know what is the difference in 5W40 and 10W40, its the cold rating. 5W can be used in sub zero temperature without lube thickening badly in cold.

For our weather it really does not matter. 5W is usually only available with fully synthetic or possibly semi lube due to its enhanced synthetic content. Mineral lube usually 10W along with most semi.

the rating 30 is thinner than 40. 40 is thicker thus is more suitable for higher temp driving such as high speed highway run. Most new foreign cars (that includes Honda, Toyota, etc) usually goes for 30 as its engine tech are cool enough especially for City drive, more save fuel. Cars like minis usually recommend 40 due to its powerful engine that are more suitable for high speed drive. Don't know why campro engine goes for 40 instead of usual 30 (Preve goes for 30 by default), maybe due to conservative thinking and probably not sufficient cooling tech or maybe ini engine more suitable for mid-high rev speed running.
