First things first, make sure you can turn it on. Then, check the physical condition, battery, trackpad, keyboard, USB ports, DVD drive, and make sure the owner have removed his/her Apple ID from the Mac.

Good read: http://www.cnet.com/how-to/tips-and-checks...a-used-macbook/

You can get a used/refurbished/ex-demo unit. Also you can buy a new unit at a slightly cheaper price through Apple's Education Store.

If you're lucky, maybe you can find someone who sells a new unit at a slightly cheaper price too.

Yes, for example, you meet someone who won two units of Mac and he/she decides to sell one, then you're one lucky person tongue.gif . But it rarely happens.

from the other threads, i guess it would be better off buying now than to wait for newer models and avoid GST right?

Luckily the differences of rMBP are not that big compared to A1502 rMBP or else I will be very sad since I got it on Feb.

Some of the updated MBPr have a link to buy it now with shipping in mid April. If I were to order it just before the 1st of April, do I still need to pay for the GST?

It shows pending regulatory approval. Does that mean they are waiting for gst to factor in?
