Noted.
The quad-core is important, rendering time = productivity = money.

Will get the one with the GPU.

*EDIT*

Is AppleCare worth it to get?
*
small rendering not that noticeable .. huge ones then quad core yields close to 2X the performance but... you sure you wanna do it on the macbook ohmy.gif
well since you mentioned rendering, then there's even more reasons to get one with dedicated GPU altho im not sure if OSX have softwares with cuda support.

applecare of course worth to get.. and you dont have to get it on the spot. you can wait maybe almost 1 year then you extend the warranty with applecare

Movie lengths typically 1 hour 20+ mins or so, at 4k and with downsampling after as post-process.
Have to (not that I want to, I'd rather a desktop tbh), because always on the move. Lots of plane flights, moving here and there over various locations.

Thanks for your help though on the applecare. Will wait a while to get it.

I ordered the MBPr with slight custom upgrade to 2.8ghz. I think because of that its taking extra long. Coming from China. Haha. Expecting it to arrive on the 12th right before my birthday. Hopefully it arrives in time, now in Hong Kong. tongue.gif

Just got my new MBP 15' today in One Utama, Mac City. They have limited stock and i get it by booking just 5 days earlier. Next round should be in next week as they got their allocation 1 per week for 15 inch model, sounds weird.

Anyone wanted to get it can go there and ask them to book and leave down the number for them to call once arrives.

Well, it's better to get it online now actually. There's education pricing + latest model with a minimum of 16Gb ram entry + higher clocked processor.

Anyway, enjoy your new mac! wink.gif

Ya i mean i got the latest model of the 16gb ram entry model. Too bad I'm not qualify for the education pricing and i am urgent in need for the MbP, as online purchasing need to wait for delivery. Well just in luck i get this in a week time.

Its so much better switching from Mac Air to Pro and its much more efficient for my work too. =)

Just got my MBPr yesterday. Kudos for UPS Courier, well packed. However, the date written on the warranty expiration is the date where the item is being sent out. I've called AppleCare and they said it would be unfair to them to change to the date where I received my MBPr. zz?

You can always call them up to update the warranty validity. It happened to me as well. Just call them and ask for update.

You already answered your own question tongue.gif but if that's the case, it is advisable to get a windows laptop instead.

Well, it actually depends on what type of windows applications you're doing. MBPr is powerful enough to do almost everything unless you need graphics rendering or stuffs like that, then you can go for the MBPr with 750m GPU. That's just my personal opinions tongue.gif

Hi All

Is it better to get the late 2013 rmbp since it outperform the mid 2014's in some benchmarks?

Whats the price of late 2013's compared to latest mid 2014's?

TQ
