So do you think 2x SB3000 is good enough for my room?
Ya ok I agree with that. I think I already saved a lot by not buying the bullshit cables you advice me to ignore. Thanks again for the lesson. notworthy.gif

I will try go and audition the PB2000 soon. I just calculated the size of the subs, they seem to be perfect fit for front left and back right corner. I hear this is usually a good placement for dual subs correct?
*
2 x SB3000 will be nice. Subs is never able to tell until you put into the room

So just to update room renovation is nearly done. Cables are all pulled, floor tiling has all been re-done change to SPC flooring.

Before I tell the contractor to close the wall, may I ask one last time this cable is good enough for surround right - https://actsessory.com/2019/02/08/scp-14awg...-speaker-cable/
*
Is good enough. Flooring should use wood type

I already lay the SPC flooring. Real wood, I did get quote using teak wood is way out of my budget. Also need to break all the tile, is a lot of work and very messy. Wife no allow.  sweat.gif
Yeah all conceal cable is running through conduit, I told them to use bigger conduit too so that the cable can be easy to pull out in the future.

Now I waiting shipment for the speaker, arrive next week I think. For receiver I also pre order the denon x3700h since 3600h no more release.
*
Anyway not much harm done. As long as you are happy that is more important

Ooo. Ok la at least the price didn't increase again.

Only problem (for me) wirh the x3700 compared to x3600 is the lack of front hdmi port. Super useful while doing REW tests. Need to go for x4700 at minimum  to continue having that zzzz.
*
Why not consider other brand like Yamaha

Could you recommend a good value set up for RM13k ? excluding the TV.

I've my eye on Starke Sound Echo ... but not sure if the reviews are all paid for advertising
*
Better go for SVS. Starke is really not that nice or even consider q-acoustic. Secondly Starke also is overprice hardware

Is it better to have separate output for video n audio, like my oppo 203 i set main direct to tv n another output audio to avr. Question is this setting better than direct all output to avr then from avr to tv.tq
*
Yes it’s better

It work perfectly but the ARC for atmos surround sound not that good compare with player direct to avr
*
At least it works 😁. Also this tell you that with separate output it also has different quality. If you use different qualify of HDMI the sound or pic also will have effect

Thanks for the feedback - replies like this is exactly why I’ve come over here to post! Will definitely check these guys out.

You are right in that these days it’s not hard to build a setup that beats a commercial cinema. I would say in Malaysia if anything MBO has the best commercial setup. They utilize Barco laser projectors (at least in the Starling PJ and their newest Tropicana Gardens Mall which is also where their HQ is). Not sure about speakers but depends on the hall I believe. I am actually going to rent out an entire hall at MBO after CMCO and will observe their setup at least for their basic hall.

How large room do you need if you want to install a good surrounding audio system in a home theater? It seems there are lots of speakers in the space.

10x8 feet room, too small? (I guess)
*
It’s a bit small but is still doable. Depend on how many channels you like to setup. If you have a room layout , will be easier to suggest to you

yes sir, i see your point. might go with 2.0 first, then add the sub.
mid range? i dont mind the price of EVO 4.2, as it will be the only speakers. will it be counter productive to get cheaper stereo amp? something in the range of 1-2k? so the 2.0 comes to 5k.
*
Try to check out Q-Acoustic, the price will be more friendly than will allow you more to spend on other hardware

There is never ideal scenario. Just get what is within your budget and use it. Once you listen to some already and have some idea , will be easier from than on. Audio is very subjective matter. What I like may not be what you like. Anybody can recommend anything they think is good. Nothing beats own personal experience. This is the fun of all for playing hifi. You can join FB group like home theater and hifi malaysia. Many more people there than in Lowyat.

my speaker setup is jumbled.. lol. front is WAF-1 from Danny Ritchie, its a DIY speaker bought from some forumer here. Then my centre is a whooping X-CS centre speaker weight 33lbs which is so big that my 55inch TV can sit on it. This centre is a matching centre for X-LS encore. i am thinking of downsizing everything, but i wanna start with changing my centre because it is too big for my liking.

These are the review of my waf-1 https://www.highfidelityreview.com/tweak-city-waf-1.html this is X-CS centre https://www.highfidelityreview.com/av123-x-...el-speaker.html

Specifications:

System: 2-way, direct-radiating system, vented enclosure w/rear port
Finishes: Rosewood (wood veneer) Drivers:
Tweeter = .787” inch (20mm) dome tweeter
Woofer = 5.25” inch (133.35 mm) doped paper cone woofer Crossover point between tweeter and woofer 2000Hz Frequency Response:
Port Open: 50Hz – 20kHz, +/- 3db from 65Hz to 18kHz
Seal port for wall mounting; works with 80Hz crossover point
Impedance: 8 Ohms nominal Efficiency: 86db (@ 1 watt / 1 meter) Grill: Recessed; removable
Cabinet: MDF
Dimensions: 10.5″ H x 7″ W x 10″ D (approx.)
Weight: 11 lbs each. Shipping Weight: 26 lbs. per pair
Additional Info: Video Shielding: No (matters only for CRT/tube TV’s)
Price: $229 Available with Gizmo 1.0 amp for $309

Or should i look for SVS prime series? monitor audio tends to sounds brighter maybe less matching with my WAF-1 which i tend to slowly by the front speaker because i need space on my TV console so i have to change my centre.. and i am thinking if i buy monitor audio series, maybe i can upgrade my front to monitor audio silver later when i have the budget, which should have better match with the bronze centre.
*
Monitor audio gold will suite you better for more mellow sounding
