Bro, did you manage fix the whistling sound ? Mine same problem.

New car?
I got my "car idle whistling sound" fix by changing gearbox oil, which is at 40k service.

Hi , would like to ask. Altis year 2005, 2nd hand car. The VSC and TRC light keep on.. anyone know how to fix this issue? Is it common to happen to an old car?
*
ABS light? if yes, maybe wheel bearing
if no maybe your steering sensor

I've been driving altis E170 year 2014 till today. And sad to notice that the interior drawer plastic handler broken and the trunk lock broken as well.
Been owner for E120 for 7 years and have no issue at all before moved to new E170.
Any owner have same issue?
*
the drawer happened on my E150 also, the rest ok.
used to drive AE101, can find that the new corolla quality is getting worse
cause been change wheel bearing, steering rack, steering coupler and the absorbers are fantastically expensive all at 70k km

Hi guys, do u have a weird plastic smell in your altis interior cabin, i am not sure whether it comes from the aircon or the dashboard and the car components itself.

Have sit on 2012, 2014 altis, both also has the weird smell, it smells like a burning plastic, i am wondering is it all altis will have this kind of weird smell ?

If it is a norm, any owner here manage to kill the smell ?

Thanks

I do have some sour smell when air con starts for the 1st few seconds...after that the smell disappear.
SC told me its due to the coil mat car carpet I added into my car.

Im not sure if its the same problem as yours.

my altis only done 10,000km.
so I cant really gv u an actual answer.
but you can actually download the maintenance packages from toyota malaysia website. so far the prices I was billed are the same as per d published maintenance packages fm d website.

altiis is a gd car. but mine is d facelift version.
so far I dont hv any problem w d car except its so quiet inside that I can hear d timing belt.
gonna send it for checks on whether there is any problem w d timing belt.

Altis uses timing chain. You must be referring to the auxiliary belt, or commonly known as fan belt.

Ya i am looking at 2014 1.8G model.

Any thoughts ah? seems like a lot of people bashing it being overpriced and does not come with safety features.

Also UMW being a crony and that sort of crap. Any drivers thoughts please?

VSC and TC is very important to have.
In 2012, by Europe standard is compulsory.
While in Asean country, is not compulsory yet, but must have this feature to get at least 4 star.
**edit
Malaysia ESC is mandatory 1st June 2018 : source

So you might wonder, how does this star affect your driving?
It depend on you entirely, you may crash and come out alive. But having VSC and TC, the chances of crash can be reduce.

Back to those uncle word, "driving so many years without those safety feature still in one piece". Well that's because their young days can't speed that fast, single lane, less traffic. Nowadays you will drive more than 100.

Julianc Kilohertz Get 2014/2015 2.0V, or 2016 onward E/G/V all come with VSC,TC
