you can buy a 2010/2011 sylphyor a 2009/2010 civic now for 50k.....but the sylphy is going to depreciate faster so that isn't ideal if you're going to trade-up within 5 years.
Plan to buy a NEW/USED car?(V2), ASK HERE for recommendation.

QUOTE(zenix @ Nov 24 2014, 04:25 PM) never driven a manual myvi. Maybe I can just afford either Perodua or Proton.. But Nissan have good FC? I suppose price will be more expensive than P1 P2.. hehehesat in one, feels quite powerful for a 1.0 with only me and the driver but he was pushing it. not too sure if it is as nippy if you're driving to save fuel. manual cars nowadays is mostly either nissan/proton/perodua only are the choices the thing about sylphy is the depreciation. Anyway, how do u compare Saga BLM/FLX to Myvi? In terms of maintenance and FC? I have done some research, ppl saying saga nice to drive at highway compared to Myvi. But Myvi service is cheaper. FC is quite similar is that true? |

Hi Guys,
1. Brand : Any 2. Budget :RM 60k max 3. New/Used/Unreg : used 4. Specs : any 5. Transmission : auto 6. NA or FI : any 7. Type : sedan 8. Remarks : I'm looking for a car next year when I will be staying in PJ and my workplace would be 30-45 mins away. I've been offered two cars; 2012 Proton Inspira at RM58k (Moded to Evo kit but engine all as purchased with 30k mileage) and a 2011 Nissan Sylphy RM 55k with 50k mileage. Both sellers are trusted as they are my close friends. Am now wondering which would be a better purchase with things like maintenance, FC, etc.. Any advice within these 2 cars would be great. I'm also open to suggestions for other cars. I'm actually trying to avoid the perdoua/proton but the Inspira's abit tempting considering its Mistubishi.. All advice would be much appreciated. Thanks! QUOTE(zenix @ Nov 19 2014, 03:17 AM) Toyota Avanza is in your price range, interested? Well, I am not so you gotta find out yourself coz I don't think it represents a value buy. Thanks. One of my colleagues own the 2006 accord and after test-driving it, I agree that it's good to look at and be in.2007 Smart ForTwo - if you're looking for something funky and cool this is a good choice, for the malaysian market they didn't bring in any successor models so this model will be forevergreen and it still looks pretty good now for a 2007 car. Maintenance wise there is a secret......it isn't a Smart/Merc engine it is a Mitsubishi engine.....the same one in the Colt....so el-cheapo maintenance japanese style but don't bang the car coz bumpers and panels aren't compatible with the colt so getting them from the chop shop or new from Smart is your only choice. 2007 Nissan Latio - don't waste your time thinking of the Sentra, if you're thinking about Nissan C-segment value buy at this price range it has to be a Latio but not many are at this price....so be quick If you're talking about new car for C-segment the price range is roughly like this.... Cerato/Elantra -> Altis 1.6 / Sylpy -> Altis 1.8|2.0 / Civic 1.8|2.0 / Mazda 3 Generally Altis/Sylphy/Civic is cheaper to maintain than the others. Wow! The Triton depreciated that badly? If you can afford it I think better just buy a brand new Proton Saga or Perodua Myvi, getting a used one won't really save you any money. As it might only be about 10k cheaper than new but you're paying much higher interest rates because it is a used car. For safety reasons I suggest a sedan like Saga/Preve/Persona than a Myvi. It must be import that means CBU or CKD also can as long as not Proton/Perodua? Let me assume no P1 & P2 and run through a few cars that might not be CBU but foreign brands but CKD in Malaysia. 2006 Toyota Altis 1.8 G-Spec - aim for the best specs within your budget but sometimes you gotta trade off with it being older but if you're choosing a reliable bullet proof car like Altis it doesn't matter these cars rarely go wrong (especially the big ticket items like engine/gearbox/aircon) and most of the stuff that do breakdown are typical wear & tear stuff like absorbers, mountings, bearings, etc. I'd say this car would tick all your requirements except looking awesome, maybe some TRD bodykits would help. You don't need to worry about high mileage the engine can handle it IF you take care of it properly with scheduled maintenance which isn't going to bite you that hard it is a very frugal car. 2006 Toyota Camry - if you want abit more of luxury you can choose this car for the same price. Maintenance would of course be higher think an addition 20-25% from the bill but comfort and prestige awaits you in this car. 2006 Honda Accord - the ultimate poison for this price range, it burst the budget only abit but it is a fantastic car to drive, to look at and be inside of. Granted the pickup from the 2000cc engine isn't as good as the 2400cc engine but you save money from the road tax, plus at highway rolling speeds they perform the same. Just got my license a few months ago! Now I'm looking at the P2 MyVi, circa 2011-2012. I am planning to use the car till I'm done with the loan (7 years) before upgrading, once I've mastered my driving skills. Not particular about FC as I travel 30km total daily, to work and back. But my biggest concern is safety, as I work in Westport and the drive there and back is stressful, what with the huge container trucks and trailers speeding plus the nearly daily accidents on that stretch of road. My question is: would the MyVi suffice or should I get a sedan with better handling? Read some interesting reviews about the Persona. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thank you all so much in advance!! |

I can only help a lil bit since I ever drive both of your car choice (myvi & persona) If you really, really want to improve your driving skills, go get manual, sure you will learn very fast. As for car choice, since u only travel 30KM per day, just like me, any car will do as long as still in a good condition. I assume you will be travelling at highway, since you say 'huge container trucks and trailers speeding' As for safety, among persona and myvi, I will say persona is safer in highway since it's handling is better than myvi, just don't overspeed the car, as you just get your license. For other car recommendation, I think sifus here will be able to help you. |

For other car recommendation, I think sifus here will be able to help you. I drive my dad's manual Waja on weekends, which is the only driving I do. Truth be told, I'd like to get a manual so that I can improve on my driving. For some funny reason, I've been advised to get an auto for this! Weird, but apparently driving an auto to better maneuvering skills will help before reverting to a manual car. Coming back to your feedback, yes, I drive on KESAS from Klang for a few km before the highway narrows to four lanes and is called Pulau Indah Highway. There are either speeding trailers or hogging trucks, so safety is important. I have no intention of speeding myself (until I've become super-experienced and super-confident) but I'm no tortoise either! Perhaps I'll seriously consider a Persona now. And a manual one at that! lol! Thanks again! Am looking forward to possibly other suggestions. |
