Hi, need some advice.
I own a hyundai Atos 2005 1.1 Auto, its running smooth but gearbox shifting 1 to 2 a little bit rough, is 100,200 KM ady
overall no problem with it. The only thing I hate is legroom (I'm quite tall)

My mech offer me a Wira 1.8, pricing is around 10K, but details I still dunno yet, haven seen the car oso. But he said the owner is his fren, a mech oso and is still running good.

I dunno how much my Atos worth, saw it on Carlist is around 8.5-10K.
So, should I change to the 1.8 wira or just keep my Atos?
Hos is Wira 1.8 FC? will it be the same as Atos? (Atos is quite high FC 1L for 11 KM city driving)

Unless you really trust your mech I don't suggest you do a direct swap like that, chances are you get conned.
Atos is pretty terrible and the Wira 1.8 is a good car but I am afraid you get scammed.
Hi zenix, many thanks for your advise. I think I'll just keep my Atos if it's not giving any problems. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

usually i don't recommend people to swap one car with problems for another car which might have problems.
your atoz might not be the most fuel efficient car out there but at least that is just a fuel bill you can claim.
although wira parts are cheap to replace if there are too many things that might go wrong the list of bills and repairs will go much more than that extra tank of gas u need to pay every month.

probably a trade-in for a new myvi with better headroom and better fuel economy would be better. if you don't have intention to buy a new car yet and just itchy because of the fuel consumption then better not get a used car and save up for a better new car or used car in the 40k region.
Yeah, I can't agree less with you.
About Myvi, is the manual version is fun to drive? What I mean by fun is like the Honda manual which has nice gear shifting feel. Or should I just get the Auto?
Actually I prefer a manual car ever KL is so jammed.. hehe laugh.gif

never driven a manual myvi.
sat in one, feels quite powerful for a 1.0 with only me and the driver but he was pushing it.
not too sure if it is as nippy if you're driving to save fuel.

manual cars nowadays is mostly either nissan/proton/perodua only are the choices  nod.gif
the thing about sylphy is the depreciation.
Maybe I can just afford either Perodua or Proton.. But Nissan have good FC? I suppose price will be more expensive than P1 P2.. hehehe

Anyway, how do u compare Saga BLM/FLX to Myvi? In terms of maintenance and FC?
I have done some research, ppl saying saga nice to drive at highway compared to Myvi.
But Myvi service is cheaper.
FC is quite similar

is that true?

1. Brand : Any
2. Budget : ~ RM35k
3. New/Used/Unreg : Used
4. Specs : any
5. Transmission : auto
6. NA or FI : NA
7. Type : Any
8. Remarks : Hi all! I'm a new member on this site, and a very new driver. Just got my license a few months ago! smile.gif Not a student (in my mid 30s) lol! I'm looking to get my first car, and was advised to shop for a used vehicle. I was shopping around for a Vios but realised that for my budget, the models I can get are 7 years and older. Was thinking of the Mazda 2 but decided against it after checking out the threads in the car club forum here.  unsure.gif
Now I'm looking at the P2 MyVi, circa 2011-2012. I am planning to use the car till I'm done with the loan (7 years) before upgrading, once I've mastered my driving skills.
Not particular about FC as I travel 30km total daily, to work and back. But my biggest concern is safety, as I work in Westport and the drive there and back is stressful, what with the huge container trucks and trailers speeding plus the nearly daily accidents on that stretch of road.  cry.gif
My question is: would the MyVi suffice or should I get a sedan with better handling? Read some interesting reviews about the Persona. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thank you all so much in advance!!  thumbup.gif

Hi,
Actually I'm still very new to this thread and still learning from sifus here.. blush.gif
I can only help a lil bit since I ever drive both of your car choice (myvi & persona)

If you really, really want to improve your driving skills, go get manual, sure you will learn very fast.
As for car choice, since u only travel 30KM per day, just like me, any car will do as long as still in a good condition.
I assume you will be travelling at highway, since you say 'huge container trucks and trailers speeding'
As for safety, among persona and myvi, I will say persona is safer in highway since it's handling is better than myvi, just don't overspeed the car, as you just get your license.

For other car recommendation, I think sifus here will be able to help you. thumbup.gif

Hmm, seems like I'm pretty lucky.. biggrin.gif
I follow your recommendation last time to get a nissan due to its reliability, and been owning this car for 3 months, I guess you are right, all is damn solid man, I only change the clutch pump and some of the bushings (yeah this thing is a bit expensive I admit). Aircond is good, luckily.
And yea, the engine really lives up to its expectation and no smoke at all (200,000KM+ ady) notworthy.gif

And I think I need you advice for my old car, which is Hyundai Atos, its in a good condition, but should I sell it off?
This altima FC is quite high, city driving around 10L/100KM, its somewhat a dilemma.
If I keep both, I need to pay for 2 road tax and insurance.

Ok, about the Altima FC, actually I'm fine with it, only that I feel its a waste for me to drive it to work whereby I will just stuck into traffic and park the car there. I only travel to client's when got urgent case.
I think I won't be selling the Altima, I am stuck with the SR20 feeling already and it is very comfortable on high speed cruise as well.
And yeah, I will definitely cleanup the engine man, surely the carbon is everywhere. Plan to keep it as weekend and track car if possible.

Hmm.. I really like your idea of switching my atos to a Viva which will preserve the value even further hmm.gif
Let's see if theres any good deal out there that I can get again.
Getting viva as a replacement of my Atos seems like a plan that will kill 2 birds with one stone.
- I extend the value
- I still own a car only for going to work

I believe maintaining viva will be cheaper than atos anytime rite biggrin.gif

1996 Nissan Sentra 1.6 - back then 1600cc was top spec for C-segment cars so there isn't a bigger 1800cc variant for this model if you're wondering. This is the famous Sentra with the Genting Taxi heritage, although this model is newer than the Genting Taxi model it is still old, however don't worry too much about it's age. In terms of getting parts and maintenance there are no issues. The maintenance of the 3 cars I show you are in the same ballpark, with the Kembara having a smaller engine possibly cheaper (as you can use cheaper engine oil). However, in terms of fuel economy the Sentra comes out tops. If you prefer a sedan and are concerned about safety then I guess this would be relatively safer than the Wira.

This nissan and the Genting taxi one is a good choice.. with that price, say no more rclxms.gif

fyi the older genting taxi model has a complicated multi link suspension for the rear while this newer one is a torsion beam only, so handling isn't as good but you're not flying up genting everyday right?  sweat.gif

ohh, I just know it, I thot all sentra is multi link..
But if daily driving, should be fine I guess, unless you are into touge mode even in city hway tongue.gif

there are many conti b-segments too that are better than iriz/myvi yet they do not sell well. just saying.
they are cars of different segment/types/price range.
how you wanna compare like that?

Iriz fail coz Exora more space.
Exora fail coz handling not as good as Suprima S (MPV can't handle better than a hatch/sedan).
Suprima fail coz Preve got more boot space.
Preve fail coz not easy to park like Iriz.

Hi Folks,

I am looking for a 2nd hand car and i am not willing to shell out a big chunk of money for it as I will only use for 2-3 years and will be using it just to roam around KL and PJ.

Im thinking of getting:

-Viva Elite
-Kelisa

between the two which is better? i know that kelisa is a bit older but a lot of people say that this is a very reliable car although viva is much more modern in terms of the year.
*
Kelisa is good, handling wise is also quite stable, but the problem is getting a good condition one, knowing that its quite old already, at least 10 years.

whereby Viva Elite is quite young, you can easily find a good one.
But handling wise, it cant beat kelisa, IMHO.

Torsion beam isn't too bad.
It is cost cutting measure but unless like you say you touge alot it doesn't really matter.
FYI Honda Civic TypeR FN2R uses torsion beams too  laugh.gif
Less complicated and cheaper to maintain if you ever need to replace it.
*
ohh, not bad ah the torsion beam.. just knew it hmm.gif
last time i damaged my Atos torsion beam, whole brand new ori part cost RM700 which I found it cheap.. compare to you damaged the whole multi link, will cost u a bomb, not to say the bushings... bangwall.gif bangwall.gif
