1. Any
2. around RM25k
3. Used unit
4. Any
5. Auto
6. NA
7. Sedan

8. Remarks: I'm 28yrs old and this will be my first car, drive to work(shift) everyday, 90%city 10%highway. Car park w/o roof 24/7(home/work). Low maintenance cost and good fc. Currently driving parent's 23yr old wira1.6AT. Would like to build up NCD from 0% with 3rd party insurance. Pay Cash.
*
2016 Perodua Axia - i think with 25k cash you might be able to fetch yourself a new Axia, yes you wanted a sedan but considering your budget and your lack of car knowledge maybe getting a new Axia would be an easier learning curve for you? Typically, a low problem, good fc, reliable and low maintenance car. In terms of reliability and fc the difference would be night and day compared to your current Wira, although I can understand your apprehension because it is a smaller car with a smaller engine -- not as powerful and also some people that are used to bigger cars are afraid of smaller cars.

2013 Proton Persona - the car is only 3 years old so everything is definitely much better than your current car, going from a Wira you'll feel like the Persona has a better view of the road being higher as I know Wira always give you the sitting on the floor feeling which is good for boy racers but for normal work and family it isn't great -- too difficult for old people to go in and out low cars. Maintenance wise since it is the same class as your Wira it would be about the same, but FC would be much better.

2010 Nissan Latio - if you can afford to stretch your budget then going for something like this would be a much better option as it was designed with a new design paradigm. Cars like Wira/Persona/Sentra are made lower with much sportier feel and cramp cabin. Cars like Latio/City are made to have a more spacious interior and boot space, although looking more ugly you'll feel much more comfortable inside. Maintenance wise it isn't a big upgrade and should be about the same as your current car, although considered "old tech" engine and gearbox from a Japanese standpoint (that's why parts are cheaper) it is still a significant improvement over your Wira with such cars returning >400km per tank of fuel, Persona is not too bad too not to be biased, but we know the Japanese do it better.

Thanks for the long long input shocking.gif
yeah, i do hv persona in mind but i stay in Penang which car price is abit higher. Maybe not a 2013 but 2011 persona nod.gif i'm considering a 2004/05 Vios too for their well known low fc VVT-i but it's so old already 10 years+ doh.gif . Between this 2 cars consider both cost the same, which will be a better choice? i'm buying it for a long run, about 7~10 years. In terms of yearly maintenance, cost of parts and insurance/loading fees, which one cheaper to maintain? hmm.gif

Goodness sake, go for the God car , ie, Toyota Vios. 10year old is nothing considering its a Toyota, even your dad's Wira [ Mitsubishi ] still outrun many newer cars now.

- smell it!! take deep whifs.... (they could mask it using air fresheners)
- check the carpeting, see if there are funny stains (they could have cleaned it)
- tarik the seatbelt out panjang panjang, this is one thing people tend not to clean, if it was flooded, u should be able to spot water/mud stains half way through
- check underneath the carpeting & spare tyre area, normal to have some dirt and suff, but if it was flooded and they didnt clean it properly, u will see lots of brown crap
- lots of rust on the underside?
- any other signs, you should be able to spot easily

riddle me this...

you decide to get a pet.
you go to the animal shelter for adoption.
will you choose a 11 year old pure breed Husky or pariah dog puppy?
one is "branded" but older, dunno can last how long more.
another one is newer but not "branded".

2008 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport - I only know (for Malaysia) that Mitsubishi Pajero, Toyota Fortuner, Mazda CX9 and Volvo XC90 are SUV with 5+2 seating. I'd say 5+2 as while you can fit 7 "humans" into such vehicles legally (as it only has 7 seat belts, anymore and it would be illegal) the last row of seats is more for children or small sized adults. I've sat in the last row before and although it is okay for short trips like fetching colleagues for lunch, I don't think it's advisable for a trip longer than 20 minutes carrying all adults -- not too comfortable and stable. If you really want to ferry 7 people more comfortably then you'd need something like a Toyota Estima, Toyota Vellfire -- that kind of size. So it depends if you're not fetching 7 people all the time your idea of SUV with 7 seater capability is fine, else you might need to reconsider to get a big MPV. I'm guessing you're aiming for SUV not MPV is because of the road conditions in the east? Anyway, I found one advert which is slightly above your budget at RM50k. It should be able to fulfill all your requirements. And the seller is located at Kuching too.

2009 Perodua Viva 1.0 - why not consider something newer like Viva, it is under budget as well. Since it is only for your parents back at the kampung to basically move around to do routine things like go pasar, go bank, go post office, etc. I think Viva is good enough. You don't need to worry about flood issue as well. Newer car also has less to worry in terms of parts getting old until need to be fixed. Yes, your parents might be very free and retired can go workshop very often but it is wasting time and frustrating that every month some problem might creep up. Viva would be cheaper to maintain than Proton Wira -- it needs less engine oil, tires are smaller, fuel requirements less, FC also better than Wira, etc. Another plus is the height -- Wira/Satria/Putra all are rather low even stock (which is great for boyracers and stance guys) but not too good for old folks to get in and out cars like Wira, Viva isn't tall like Kembara but entry/exit is easier as it is of the correct height.

BEWARE OF SCAMMER check out this link, impossible Waja so cheap.

Civic Hatchback might not be sold in Malaysia officially.
Since Honda Malaysia took over we've only got sedan versions of the Civic.
I don't think we'll get an official Civic Hatch, maybe grey imports like Naza will bring it in, but remember grey imports don't have the same warranty and spare parts availability like cars bring in my Honda Malaysia.

Civic = C-segment
Jazz = B-segment

so Civic bigger.

1980 Ford Capri - the owner seems to have taken care of the car really well and looks like a good buy and drive car, definitely a collectors car. Only issue might be getting spare parts for this car.

1992 Honda Prelude - looks like another well taken care of car which has some kits for that JDM kind of look, i'd prefer it to have the original steering as a sports steering usually (for me) doesn't give the best "feel". Probably the only thing to complete the race car look is getting some new bucket seats or maybe some refurbished bucket seats from a Type R model. Maintenance isn't really expensive for this car as parts are mostly cheap but engine oil requirements are quite big being a 2200cc engine.

Well in terms of good car to own - is it easy to maintain, does it break down easily, are the parts easy to come by etc etc.

its a 2007 version.

Been looking at 3 option of purchase at a budget topping out at 180K (lower the better)
Option 1 - S300L W221 model
Option 2 - E-class W212 model
Option 3 - 1 sports car & 1 Merc W211 model.

I believe i have enough information with regards to Option 1 & 2 but option 3 is a little tough.

i can only ask something which i am not sure of. The 2007 Audi A5 coupe is hard to come by reviews of it in Malaysia.

Hi zenix, thank you for the advice and I agree that it might not be comfortable for my passengers if they have to cramp. I have done some research on the car that you recommended and I've contacted the person with the Pajero on mudah. However, I could only e-mail him and his response sounded more like a scam and it was confirmed when I did the same on several other 'offers' which were selling below market price, the same person replied, this happened 4 times in total.

What do you think of the 2 series Land Rover Discovery, 2003, TDS 2.5 (A)? I've looked at pictures and its cabin space is second to none. My only concern is with its reliability as I've read how others have multiple small to big problems popping up on theirs.

Thanks.
