guys, anyone experience whining sound from the engine compartment while cruising at 90kph with 2500rpm? the whining sound comes around 80kph around 2000rpm, fainted, it gets more obvious when approach 90kph at 2500rpm, push it to 100kph and it's not that obvious (probably the tyre noise getting louder). Transmission is AT. Putting the gear at N and rev the engine to 2500rpm and doesn't get any whining noise. Hence i suspect might be something around the gearbox.

Common problem when I first got my car... I got used to it - either ears immuned to it or my sound proofing got rid of it...It's a nightmarish car ain't it... |

QUOTE(singk @ Jun 20 2014, 02:09 AM) If you suspect the gearbox, perhaps it's time to schedule another appointment with SC... Gearbox problems dun play play...Like I said, it's common problem with pre-FL Alza, but I don't recall the sound coming from gearbox because when my car was idle with gear at N, I still get that whining sound when rev engine... You and I may have a different whining sound, and since you mentioned it, the FL Alza does come with a new gearbox ain't it...? New gearbox, new problem... |

QUOTE(singk @ Jun 20 2014, 10:42 AM) i'm quite worried on the "new gb new problem" statement. hmm...whining as in how? So far mine has no issue yet as I always let the Engine warm up properly early morning until the idle settle down only I start to drive and switch on a/c. Btw, my sales adviser actually recommended me to always turn the ignition key to "Acc", wait for the electrical system to fully run through the car only start the engine. |

QUOTE(stelamezie @ Jun 20 2014, 01:38 PM) hmm...whining as in how? if you refer to the normal whining i'm mentioning, the sound was something like a low tone humming sound (not a noise), something like aircond compressor on myvi (nguuu........), i believe that belongs to the ATF oil pump and it's normal for pump to have whining sound. So far mine has no issue yet as I always let the Engine warm up properly early morning until the idle settle down only I start to drive and switch on a/c. Btw, my sales adviser actually recommended me to always turn the ignition key to "Acc", wait for the electrical system to fully run through the car only start the engine. as for the whining at 90kph with 2500rpm, it's a high pitch noise, gentle but you may spot it when there's no other noise i.e no radio, no song, no lorry, no motor beside you. sound something like ngeeeeee...... Maybe my case is isolated case (meaning something went not right during that operating parameter) I do practice the wait until the airbag & ABS sign went off to start the engine, but i don't stop there to warm up my engine, start the engine, wait the engine drop to normal (usually about 1k+ rpm during cold start, D, go. As usual, i dun push it during warm up. |

I dont have that in my alza, but the old nissan has it lately. went to check and they replace the fan belt. no more "ngee....."as for the whining at 90kph with 2500rpm, it's a high pitch noise, gentle but you may spot it when there's no other noise i.e no radio, no song, no lorry, no motor beside you. sound something like ngeeeeee...... QUOTE(Eithanius @ Jun 20 2014, 03:32 PM) They already have an authorized distributor but maybe the msia counterpart do bad job on promoting it locally... or they just hold on to it, and never push it. I have never heard of nankang until was recommended by the shop. Who would think taiwan produces their own tyres? I would imagine we, msia, thai, indon, china, vietnam, etc... makes the most tyres around the world. |
