my thoughts if you're coming from the kenari

"wah, so much space"
"big la this alza. need to get used to the size"
" a bit draggy hor? like no pickup ?" <- expected since it's much heavier bodied vehicle compared to kenari
"eh, the body roll seems same" <- as both vehicles are kinda tall, not like a sedan
" wah go 3 years parts and labour??" <- all new perodua has 3 years or 60k parts and labour
"Where is my handbrake??? Missing ar?" <- using foot brake
"aiya, hard to put my coffee cup le" <- since the cup holder is at the lower part of the door
that's what i can think of. smile.gif
*
Hahhahahahaha I wouldn't be surprise much of the space & power issue as i drove from 4wheel to MPV depending on daily work task required at work place. But i do admit it's bigger then my kenari tongue.gif regarding handbrake, maybe have some habit to get use to ^^

Well I wanted to know any other comment on it beside general comment, as I browse through the old Alza. Things seems tend to goes really wrong with blind luck, so i wonder any other similar idiotic issue are happening in this new facelift like "unknown rattling", "wind noise out of nowhere" and etc.

I would not expect much from it since it's consider a budget compact mpv, & local assembly, just hope that it doesn't kills my impression on it with tons of tons of silly manufacture and faulty design.

To be honest, I even compare it with Almera since both of this car consider a budget vehicles. I still like Alza the most.

I replaced the horn about a year into my warranty, but Perodua make no noise about it... Granted that was 2 years ago, maybe there are changes into that effect...  sweat.gif
*
Actually since my ever first service at perodua service center during year 2006 for my kenari, i had bad impression and eventually stick to my trusty 3rd party workshop till now. I hate the fact they kept asking me change this replace that when it is still functioning.
Am not sure how good is the service center at perodua now hope it changed.

I like the twin tone honk actually tongue.gif I do not like perdoua car honk, sound like toy car for some reason.

ah ok i see what you're looking for. Honestly, it would require a person who own the old model, and now owns the new model to really make that comparison.

But from my perspective, i find the cabin noise is not loud, and have not encountered the issues listed so far.( rattling, wind noise, vibrating steering). granted, vehicle still new tongue.gif

two 'complaints' i have only is the horn sounds really 'pondan' and there is no alarm lock sound. Horn the only solution is to replace it but it voids warranty.

The no alarm lock sound they can install the buzzer for rm50+.
*
I do notice myvi & viva also does not have alarm lock sound for some reason, it is like encouraging youth who owns these car to sneak out of the house at night to go do "something" without parents knowing LOL.

Honk as usual, perodua car always got a toy car honk sound which thats the reason why last time i replace my kenari one with twin tone. tongue.gif
But i did not know it voids warranty for replacing it, only the honk voids or affect whole car?

Just the horn. I think also the difference last time since you pay parts for service, they are more inclined to sell you more parts. Now since it's inclusive 3 year parts+labour, i think they will really only change things that are necessary. smile.gif
just my thoughts.

alright, i stay tune to see any more end user comment ^^

Yo Alza fans, i know this is an Alza Club session but I am in serious desperation and in need of help.

I am driving an Auto Kenari since year 2006 188k Mileage in total, no modification to it.
Since I got this car not long, its first ever Engine Stall was entering a car park when its still bout 4months old, sent to perodua sc to find out the problem. No problem to be found.

After some time it has random engine stall but not frequent. Most of the time is during traffic jam, when I was trying to shift lane from full stop. Once I turn the power steering it stalled. So I went and check power steering motor, no issue as well.

Up until since last year onwards, the throttle not stable during idle mode (Neutral gear as well as D4 gear with breaks on). The RPM kept from approx. 1100 drop to 600 then rise again and the engine kept choking but didn't lead to engine stall problem.

Mechanic has check spark plug, idle sensor, FCU board, spark coil, cleaned throttle body with chemical cleaner, no issue with all these parts. Still can't find the causes of this unstable throttle.

I am wondering has it anything to do with torque converter / throttle body worn out? Or unstable electricity?

Of cause I service my car always within 5k mileage.
once I accelerate and drive, the engine is as smooth as it was new... So am not sure is there anything wrong with transmission as it shift up and down without any issue. And my kenari can go up until 140km/h without any issue.

Though I am planning to buy an Alza, I want to get this problem fix first before I sell it off sad.gif

Below are the video of engine choking during D4 gear, this happen during N gear as well... you can hear the noise of the engine is making from this video.

Just received my Silver Alza Advance on Monday from Jln. Ipoh Perodua Sales room!

Here she is biggrin.gif

By the way, is it alright if I casually let the car speed up to approx 100 - 120km/h once in a while before its first 1000km/h service?

A good SA is very important, if you all want i can intro you mine, within 2 weeks done from loan to delivery. PBB 2.93%.

To own a MPV with 60k , except alza dont have any other choice. My supports on alza are below:
1) Cheap and big space
2) Cant found any new mpv in this price
3) 3yrs free engine oil and labour charge
4) 5 yrs dabao still got buyers, not a cold market car
5) Service fee cheap
6) Minor issue every car sure got even a Alphard - rattiling sound same sure got for mpv.
7) FC is more than myvi just abit more not significant like Forte or RIO.
8) Tall and very good visibility. Not like Forte and Rio, i'm sinking inside when drive poor visiblity and many blind spot.

My Cons on Alza:
1) Rattling sound from behind, need time find out but i'm lazy so i can tahan, still new not prominent the sound.
2) Brake pad is poor, brake press height level can be adjusted.
3) Bumpy absorber - change better absorber when is kong
4) Stock tyre less grip and noisy
5) Alternator kick in too frequent, light dim when it kick in.
5) Still finding.......

Engine performance:
0-5000km -  Lack of power can be felt. After 2nd oil change, smooth and responsive.

NVH:
Better than previous gen alza due to added sound insulator for this new facelift alza. Engine sound 3K above sound only start noticeable.

Conclusion: Still the same, i buy this car is because of price and worthiness. Alza SE Ivory White owner 3 months here is recommended for a buy. Previous car: 1st Myvi, 2nd Forte, current Alza. Hope my review can help you all. smile.gif

I think i found the source of the rattling sound from the back, there's a head rest holder which you place your 3rd role seat head rest on it. It's not really tight fit in certain occasion it will hit the holder wall.

In less then a week, I did 749km mileage. Should be ready for 1st service in 2 days time XD

Only complaint about this car for me is, stupid GPS kept interfere with my radio / mp3, audio randomly fade in and out even when the GPS is not speaking. The rest is all good.

I have installed it at my City. Cost about RM 100+ if no mistake.   More stable when corning and less bumpy.
*
I see, does it helps maintain / improve ride comfort?

I wonder if Perodua SC have these accessories. Reaching 1k soon for my alza first service.

I won't call that cons... Now that you have UR bar installed, get grippy tyres like Michelin PS3, then you can throw your Alza on every corners you can find with confidence... By the way, does that UR bar reduce vibrations and harshness...? I never install those bars, instead I foamed the chassis, so I get less vibrations and harshness, at the same time improve handling, whack corners and potholes with confidence... Usually I cruise 140kph avg steady...

But one thing I hate cruising on the Alza is due to the 4 speeder. 140kph goes around 3.5k rpm, noisy engine like strangling the chicken while forcing it to chicken-run around...
*
Unique way of describing the alza engine XD

but still, any brand recommended to use for the coil spring buffer rubber? or P2 SC can recommend?

Just did my first 1000KM service today with AT transmission oil + gasket changed tongue.gif

Any way I notice when I drove my alza advance on a few down hill / slope road, the Gear suddenly kick-in and shifted to lower gear while I was on break.

Any 1 encounter this before?

**UPDATE ON MY STATUS**

*it took me 1 week to get the loan approved
*it is now my 3rd week after approval

*last week called perodua to ask them about the apparent stock problem and ask them how long will i get my car, this is their response " your car is under XXX dealership and is currently under Que to recieve their cars, minimum wait time estimated for stock to arrive at the dealership is 2.5 months"

* called my SA today and told him i knew about this and what is he going to do about this, he said he will double book the car at another dealership and hopefully get a car from
1. cancelled bookings
2. trying to cut que
when i went to DMM shah alam last sunday i found this out,
#perodua alza advance has gone up by rm 1,000 beginning this month
# you can book at multiple dealerships to increase your chances of getting a car faster as other dealerships could be nearer in Que
#interest rate to increase by next couple months to 3.3% - 3.7%
# interest rate is based on personal scoring of credit by banks, therefore interest rates vary from banks and customers
in my opinion why stock is slow is because:
1. overbooked, raya season near
2. back lash from public about apparent problems in workmanship and quality from cars ( toyota QC is now much strict or else lose face)
*
Hey, why not I intro you the Sales Adviser who handle my alza advance? She worked at jln ipoh main branch and very efficient. I got my car within 2 weeks time, provided that I follow her guide & stage by stage. My loan approved within 3 days. And yes, Sad to say the car cost increased sad.gif

I am not sure if you'll be able to get it as fast as I do, but I can guarantee her service is good & she will be honest to tell you the truth and what happen. She has been working with Perodua for about 20years.
