I have a 2HP Panasonic, near to blower side is very cold, even I set 26'C.
But on the side, it won't be cool down fast.
A 2HP set at 26'C does not same as 1HP's 26'C.

QUOTE(rotaziz @ Jul 21 2014, 02:05 AM) my house is 2 a storey.how much the "unconfined" area will effect the cooling?will the stairs area leading to upstairs giving much trouble for cooling? Well, in some sense I don't want to cool that part, I need the hall to be distributed the cooling. So proper planning before renovation will be important. If your living hall and dining hall are same, consider 2 units. |

QUOTE(rotaziz @ Jul 21 2014, 02:35 AM) i dont want the upstairs area to be cool either.just afraid that unconfined area will make the living and dining hall where i will put my unit harder to cool.true, proper renovation planning is a must.my living and dining hall is connected.can see attached layout. Best location : 1 in the porch wall and another at A. |

QUOTE(rotaziz @ Jul 21 2014, 10:05 AM) at first i planned to install at porch wall.but my window is quite tall.after install plaster ceiling, aircond cannot fit in.that's why i opt for point A and B. The hose and cable can run on top of the ceiling, just need to plan. Without plaster ceiling actually better. |

QUOTE(rotaziz @ Jul 22 2014, 01:17 AM) yes,it can go through top of the ceiling but my developer strictly mentioned no hacking of the top slab or else face penalty.sigh.that's why cannot install it at car porch wall.plus my porch wall's windows are "connected" to the ceiling.no gap left at all.stupid design. What? you buy your house but cannot hack the wall? What is the logic on this? This post has been edited by supersound: Jul 25 2014, 02:16 AM |

QUOTE(lucaswjk @ Jul 26 2014, 12:05 AM) opps, my mistake Under regulation wise, you should be upgrading to 3 phase. If this is new house and insurance won't cover when something bad happens.i need 2.5hp for the ground floor living room... and i read 2.5hp is more power saving than 2hp donno true or not... --- another question lets say i buy this one... and hv this total setup normal terrace house with 1phase power and 1x2.5hp + 1x1.5hp + 3x1hp + 2xrefrigerator what the things i need to concern of... such as upgrade fuse box? Anyway, 2.5HP won't really save much, unless you turn it on for long period of time. Before I get my 2HP, the shopper even advise me to get 2HP instead of 2.5. It is about rm500 cheaper and installtion fees also slightly cheaper. |

QUOTE(lucaswjk @ Jul 26 2014, 01:06 AM) tenaga regulation? Is their regulation, single phase only allow 2 1HP air cond, if follow the book.ok will try to google it... fyi, currently my fren have the same setup, but his second refrigerator is a small one... (mine r 2 full size) and he is using single phase, no prob donno hows wat is da actual impact of the when i go full blasting abit concern... bout the safety anyone else using the same setup on single phase?? Anyway, if all the high power consumption appliance are taking from main fuse box, then it won't have so much problem. |

QUOTE(lucaswjk @ Jul 26 2014, 01:45 AM) i think someone mention b4... 3 phase are still 240V.single phase upgrade to 3phase will cost around rm1800 my wallet is not tat thick mayb go for minimal upgrade... fuse box oni haha update, from tenaga CODE Single-phase vs. Three-phase Supply A single-phase meter measures usage from a 230 volt supply through two (2) wires, and a 3-phase meter is supplied with 415 volts through four (4) wires. You are advised to change from a single-phase supply to a 3-phase supply when your household electricity load exceeds 10kW or 50A. Â Generally, you should change to a 3-phase supply when there are three (3) or more air- conditioners in your home. Upgrading to a 3-phase supply will increase stability and reliability of electricity supply to your premises. How to Upgrade You may submit your application to upgrade to 3-phase supply via a qualified electrical contractor registered with the Energy Commission. Fees and Charges Connection charges are based on your additional load. Please inquire at the nearest Pusat Khidmat Pelanggan for more information on the connection charges imposed. use 3phase if 3aircon / 10kW / 50A im screwed And single main wire are rated to 100A at least. But you need to count got how many houses in a row. My house 1 row has 10 houses, so standard is 3-3-4. So each house are pulling about 30A peak. But in actual, air cond won't pull 13A all the time. |

QUOTE(lucaswjk @ Jul 26 2014, 02:02 PM) actually there is a thread... in lyn... about 3phase You are right in some sense. 3 phase are more on load balancing. If run few air conds together for long period of time, then 3 phase wiring will be better.spend some time there... conclusion... no need to upgrade, mayb im going to upgrade fuse to 65A Have to know that, when the wire are hotter, the efficiency will drop. But again, how low is low? Even sometimes the 3 phase wireman only wire it using 1 phase and happen all the time. For my double storey house, 1st floor are using its independent phase, so when ground floor's ELCB trips, 1st floor still got supply. |

QUOTE(lucaswjk @ Jul 26 2014, 02:30 PM) i read 1row 10house (3+3+4) is alternating the power source Usually it is red, yellow, blue phase. but my area power tripped at least 2times a year... and when that happen, the whole taman blackout seem like i cant enjoy this 3phase benefit (the whole area is using one 1phase?? but if it is incoming to the substation tripped, sure all the 3 phases will follow. But if it is 1 of the phase in the substation trips, then the other 2 will continue to supply power. But so far it never happens. If TNB willing to invest, whenever 1 of the 3 phases tripped, the other 2 will supply power to it. But such relay system won't be cheap. |

QUOTE(Nymphetamine666 @ Jul 26 2014, 09:21 PM) Hi. Im looking for a new air conditioner. Im thinking of buying the Panasonic 1HP with inverter. But after salesman recommend me the Carrier 1HP, I started to become choosy..need help/advice please. If what salesman says can be trusted, cow also can climb tree already.Salesman told me: Panasonic got: Pros: -1st 8hours, save 25% energy saving. -after 8 hours then got 50% energy saving. Cons: -the refrigerant elements, if we use finger and push it, it simply deformed -the after sale service/warranty is outsourced to another contractor, which in other mean, need to pay some and well, u know, leceh a bit.. Carrier got: Pros: -cheaper a bit. -25% energy saving. -well, this brand established since I was a kid. And they really specialized in Air cond and they do air cond only. -after sale service/warranty by themselves. Cons: He didnt say anything bout cons. |

QUOTE(hidayat14 @ Aug 1 2014, 07:45 AM) hi guys, i just got the key to my house and it is three storey terrace. i need advice on what type of aircond and how much HP needed to ensure the best efficiency both in term of cooling performance and power consumption.. Dinning you can skip using air cond unless you want to stay there for long.for first floor, it comes together with air cond wiring, two of it for living hall and dining hall. it didnt have any piping with it. how many hp does it need to cover both area? for master bedroom, how many of hp needed? is it better for me to go for inverter or just use non inverter? and which brand do you guys recommend? i am thinking about acson and mixture of several different brands (panasonic, samsung etc) as it will be a total of 7 unit of airconds all together (5 rooms+1 dining hall+1 living hall) please help, before i proceed to call the contractor for installation. Assuming it is in KV area the size will be something like 18-20"*60-75"? If yes, living hall using a 2HP will be more than enough, as you have fan also. Living are just for cooling down and not cold down. For bedroom, master 1.5HP and others 1HP. Type of bricks, ventilation are something you need to consider also, as they play major role on this. Use better paint will help also. As for location of the compressor unit, I don't bother much on cosmetics, I bother much on the cost of maintenance and safety. So making a balcony on 1st and 2nd floor will be a good idea as the compressors can put there. I always put the compressor as near to blower unit as possible. This can help to increase lost of cooling. I have 1 1.5HP and 1 2HP, my monthly bill before working in overseas are about rm50-80 as I on for 2-4 hours only. |
