Preferred Brand: Apple, Asus & Lenovo
2. Budget: About 3k MAX
3. Usage: online trading & banking
4. Lightweight  <1.5kg + thin size with good battery life and cooling system + touch screen.
*
good cooling system doesnt exist in thin laptops, but since you are just using it for trading and banking purpose, should be okay. somehow, im wondering why do you need touch screen for those purposes? not to mention, your budget is limiting you from getting laptops with your requirements. those that fits your usage and requirement :

non-touch :
Apple
MacBookAir 13", i5-4250U + Intel HD5000 + 128GB SSD + (1440x900)@RM3299[1.35kg], 4GB, backlit keyboard, Mac OSX
MacBookAir 13", i5-4250U + Intel HD5000 + 256GB SSD + (1440x900)@RM3899[1.35kg], 4GB, backlit keyboard, Mac OSX

with touch :
ASUS
UX31A-C4059H, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD + (1920 x 1080; touch)@RM3799[1.3kg], 4GB, W8

Lenovo
IdeaPad Yoga 13, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM3399, 4GB, 2 years; colors: grey/orange

prices in RRP, negotiable.

Hi LYN peeps!need some help biggrin.gif

1. Brand: ALL except HP and ACER
2. Budget: 2k-3k (inclusive of extended warranty and other accessories)
3. Usage: Heavy surfing (multiple browsers at one time) and business use.
4. Design : Thin and durable (weight isn't a factor)

Optional:
1)Touch Screen

Thanks!
*
durability depends on how your luck is. some take care about their laptops but have short life span, while some whom dont take care but have long life span. however, it is adviced to maintain the laptop at all points. anyway :

Dell
Vostro 5470, i3-4010U + Intel HD4400 + 32GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm) + (1366x768;touch)@RM2149, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8, 3-cell

Lenovo
Ideapad Flex 14, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT720M +(1366x768; touch) + 8GB SSHD + 500GB HDD@RM2299, 4GB, W8, 2 yrs; colors: black/orange

prices are RRP and negotiable. warranty extend for 3 years around RM300, accessories might cost you RM100, depends on what you wanted.

anyway,is there any other laptops you can recommend without touch pad? because after I've done some research, some of my programmes aren't compatible with Windows 8 and therefore no point having touch pad yawn.gif
*
you can go for a tablet by the means. laptops are compulsory to have a touchpad since the 1st day it was introduced.
if you dont like touchpad, you can always choose an alternative way, that is use an external mouse. experience is much more better and acccurate than mouse.

Even if say im working with photoshop (multiple windows) and illustrator as well as flash all at the same time?
*
multitasking is another factor now. anyway, with 8GB RAM should be okay, 16GB if you are intensive user.
take note, RAM always kick in before processor. so no matter how many cores you have, a laptop without good amount of RAM will eventually laggier as well.

you got a hefty budget there, you can consider :

Apple MacBookPro 13" (Retina Display), i5-4288U + Intel Iris 5100 + 512GB SSD + (2560x1600)@RM5899[1.57kg], 8GB, backlit keyboard, Mac OSX

Illegear RE-13 Pro, i5-4200M + Nvidia GTX765M + (1920x1080 IPS)@RM3999[2kg][Onkyo, SoundBlaster Cinema], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), Backlit Keyboard, FreeDOS, [CPU Options: i5-4200M - i7-4900MQ]

but im curious that, what kind of game titles do you play?

Alright. Thanks man! Among those are there any Dells apart from the inspiron 7000? Probably i7 quadcore with at least 12GB ram and SSD?
*
12GB RAM is possible but SSD, your only option is DIY.

ASUS N56JR-S4018H, i7-4700HQ + Nvidia GTX760M + (1920x1080)@RM3999[2.7kg], 12GB, 1TB, W8.1, backlit keyboard

and the rest are Lenovo Y510P and Illegear RE-15/RS-15 Lite, as sifu TJ suggested.

Thanks. (: so even these Asus Lenovo and Illegear needs to be DIYed to swap to SSD?

Oh and how do Macbook Pros fare for my field of work?
*
yes, but for Illegear, you can select opt for SSD upon customizing. configure your illegear unit here.
as for MBP, they fare well for your field but for games, you need a good consideration (although you can bootcamp).

@pandera999
thanks!
if i extend my budget to 3500? will there be better options?
for those two, i can just add SSD to them? or will i need to replace the current HDD inside?
also, will i find these models in lowyat? planning to go there this weekend.

many thanks  thumbup.gif
*
for your usage, i dont think you need very powerful ones, so this one might suit you :

Acer V7-582PG-74508G52k, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)@RM3399[2.2kg], 8GB, W8

take note - the mSATA is SSD but it is used as a cache drive. if you want SSD preloaded :

Acer V7-582PG-74501225k, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M + 256GB SSD + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)@RM3999[2.2kg], 12GB, W8.1

and a question, your 'light gaming' refers to what title of games?

Also for Acer V7-582PG-74501225k, would it be possible to add another HDD?
*
not possible, because there is no DVD drive, where you can buy a DVD-HDD converter bay to expand your storage.

since you arent gaming a lot, you can take the Apple. better battery life, slightly lighter and better build quality. you can bootcamp in case if you are not keen to Mac OS.

to be frank, of all the laptops you listed, rMBP has the best spec around. Iris graphics (powerful integrated graphics by Intel), 256GB storage and decent build quality. if you like to have Windows, you can always bootcamp it.

Its a matter of experience maybe. As an example alot of people would not like acer as a brand. But me myself using acer for 10years + had no problem whatsoever smile.gif

Acer and HP always hold the rumor for poor quality. My opinion is that god is playing with their luck.
