1. Brand  : Main priority to Dell as they having good warranty service

2. Budget : 2k to 2.5k ( if cant find laptop as this range,do tell me how                            much do I need to pay more)

3. Usage  : AUTOCAD, programming and web development

4. Screen : 14 or above

Other      : *FHD* (for more workspace)
              : *Install a SSD myself*
              : *add more RAM myself*
: *Game performance would be not needed,no gaming at all*
*
hey there, welcome back. for your budget, it is a problem with FHD screen as your preferred taste. if you prioritize AUTOCAD performance more and FHD screen, its better for you to top up your budget to 3.5k for this :

Lenovo Y510p, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT755M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080)@RM3399[2.7kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8.1, red backlit, swappable ODD, 120w psu, 2 yrs

a little brother version (cheaper but no FHD screen) with 3.2k :

Lenovo
Y410p, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT755M(GDDR5)@RM2899, 4GB, 1TB, DOS, red backlit, 120w psu, swappable ODD, 2 years warranty
Y410p, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT755M(GDDR5)@RM3199, 8GB, 1TB, W8.1, red backlit, 120w psu, swappable ODD, 2 years warranty

if you prioritize warranty service but will have weaker performance (within your budget) :

Dell
Inspiron 14R, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M (GDDR5) @RM2499[2.32kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), Ubuntu 12.04 , 6 cell; W8SL@RM2699

prices in RRP and negotiable.

1. Preferred Brand:As long as it can at least last for 4-5 years, any brand is just fine.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size:not less than 14 inch.
*
a laptop is hardly to survive after 3 years (averagely) of usage. if you want it to last longer, 1st you must service the laptop once or 2 times a year and 2nd, its your luck. anyway :
high performance :

ASUS N56JR-S4018H, i7-4700HQ + Nvidia GTX760M + (1920x1080)@RM3999[2.7kg], 12GB, 1TB, W8.1, backlit keyboard

MSI GE60-2OC-471MY, i7-4800MQ + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM3499,8GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8, steel series KB

Illegear RE-15, i5-4200M + Nvidia GTX765M + (1920x1080)@RM3499[2.6kg][Onkyo, SoundBlaster Cinema], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), FreeDOS, [CPU Options: i5-4200M - i7-4900MQ]

normal performance :

MSI GP60-2OD-034MY, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT740M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM2999, 4GB, 750GB, W8, steel series KB

Lenovo Z510, i7-4702MQ + Nvidia GT740M@RM2799[2.2kg], 4GB, 1TB, backlit, W8; 2 yrs

Illegear RE-15 = overbudget

y50 with gtx 860m so y510 755m sli will be more powerfull. now no news bout 860m going SLI
*
for your info, GT755M SLI =/< GTX770M = GTX860M

as far as i know, Y50 only have single graphics, no news about it going SLI. if it is going SLI, it can beat the sh*t outta any gaming laptops in the market.

Guys, just want to check, is Asus N550JV-CN077H a touch screen model? I check on Asus website it says N550JV is touch screen, but I see seller didn't mention anything. After I google I found out there are two version. Thank you.
*
no, N550JV only has a display. i viewed the laptop before, so i can confirm the highest spec doesnt have touch screen, only N550LF has.

Manage to identify another model, from HP:-

HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k118tx Sleekbook (http://h20386.www2.hp.com/MalaysiaStore/BundleDetail.aspx?pdetail=P321908&)

HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k029tx Sleekbook (http://www8.hp.com/my/en/products/laptops/product-detail.html?oid=5399233#!tab=features)
Any comment on the model above? Btw, the dell is it carry-in warranty now and no longer onsite warranty?
*
its okay if you can bear the weight a little.

Dell is carry-in warranty now? suppose its on-site service after remote diagnosis, which means after you called Dell and a problem is yet to be fixed, Dell will dispatch a technician and service your laptop on-site, no matter where you are.

HP Pavilion Touchsmart 14-n049TX / n050TX – 14” Touch / i5-4200U / 4GB / 750GB / GT740M 2GB / W8 : RM2270/-
HP Pavilion Touchsmart 14-n223TX – 14” Touch / i5-4200U / 4GB / 750GB / GT 740M 2GB / W8.1 : RM2280/-

the one im saying isnt a touchsmart version.

HP Pavilion 14-N059TX, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT740M@RM2099[2.03kg], 4GB, 750GB, W8; colors: silver/black

the main difference between the 2 is the windows used and colour availability. the one comes with W8.1 only has black while the one with W8 has silver and black.

Is this spec good enough for me?

lenovo-ideapad-z510

Dealbreaker: must be > 15 inch, dedicated GPU, non-acer/hp, and using it for medium gaming and productivity.

Thank you.

should be enough for your usage, unless you are intensive.

ASUS laptops overbudget, consider these :

should i say, 'holy sh*t, thats a load of budget there!' laugh.gif
by the way, can consider these :

Illegear
RS-15, i7-4700MQ + AMD 8970M + (1920x1080)@RM5799[3.1kg][Onkyo, SoundBlaster X-FI MB3], 8GB, 500GB(7200rpm), Multi-Color Programmable Backlit Keyboard, FreeDOS, [CPU Options: i5-4200M - i7-4930MX] [GPU Options: AMD 8970M, Nvidia GTX765M, Nvidia GTX770M, Nvidia GTX780M, Nvidia Quadro K1000M, Nvidia Quadro K3000M]

Alienware
17, i7-4800MQ + Nvidia GTX770M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 64GB mSATA + 750GB(7200rpm) + Bluray@RM7999[4.15kg], 16GB, W8SL, 802.11ac

MSI
GT70-2OD-672MY, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GTX780M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM7199[Dynaudio], 8GB, 1TB(7200rpm), W8, steel series multi color backlit KB

if can, wait for GTX8xxM series to hit Malaysia, as XoticPC unleashed 8xxM series recently. but do keep note, Alienware will be slower, so your options will be MSI and Illegear afterwards.

Hi guys.

1) Preferred brand: Anything
2) Budget : Around RM2600
3) Usage : Light gaming, AutoCad, SolidWorks, Microsoft Office software
4) Screen Size : 14" and above

I have made a survey before this and this two laptops came across me. Between Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 5939-0019 and Toshiba Satellite L50-A107X, which one is better? Both have the same specs by the way.
*
Z510 is better and cheaper. the reason i say so is the keyboard has more feedback than Toshiba (Toshiba is well known for non-feedback keyboards) and comes with brushed aluminium, rather than the Toshiba's glossy surface.

If you aren't concern about the warranty, then you can give it a try. But I don't really recommend razer blade pro, due to not reasonable pricing with specs.
