none of them will work. ups and downs of a thin and thick gaming laptop :

Thinness - Light weight/Portable, Poor heat dissipation/cooling
Thick - Heavy, Good heat dissipation/cooling

so, i'd suggest you to make a research, instead of getting spoon fed.

I have money to splurge in order to buy a new laptop to replace my stolen Acer Aspire 5750G.

1. Preferred Brand: Acer, but other brands can be considered. Basically a competant model that can replace the performance of an Acer Aspire 5750G. Core i7 obviously.
2. Budget: Around RM2.8K++
3. Usage: Multimedia. Both work and play.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 15.6" or 17"

That Acer Aspire 5750G was spec with i7 quad core (Sandy Bridge) and GT540M, but only HD (1366x768) screen, iirc hmm.gif

If you want similar spec:

Lenovo
Z510, i7-4702MQ + Nvidia GT740M@RM2799[2.2kg], 4GB, 1TB, backlit, W8; 2 yrs

MSI
GP60-2OD, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT740M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM2999, 4GB, 750GB, W8, steel series KB

Prices are RSP, negotiable.

What is "ultra series"?
Do you mean ultrabook?

If you want laptop with that "ultrabook" sticker, you will have very limited choices with your budget.
If what you look for is just thin and light, then:

Asus
BU400A-W3212G, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000@RM3199[1.64kg], 4GB, 500GB, W8P

Dell
Vostro 5470, i3-4010U + Intel HD4400 + 32GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm) + (1366x768;touch)@RM2149, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8, 3-cell
Vostro 5470, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT740M + 32GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm) + (1366x768; Touch)@RM2549, 4GB, W8.1, 3-cell

HP
ProBook 430 G1, i5-4200U + Intel HD4400 + (1366x768, anti-glare)@RM2399[1.5kg], 4GB, 500GB (5400rpm), W7P/W8P, 44WHr, spill-resistant keyboard

Lenovo
U430T, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT730M + (1600x900; touch)+ 8GB SSHD + 500GB HDD@RM2799, 4GB, W8, 2 yrs

Prices are RSP, negotiable.

Anymore intel core i5 processor variant?

I mean a laptop with intel core i5, but with at least 1.7kg weight or less...preferably 13 inch....

you always can top up... then can get faster performance laptop lo...

anyway, the lag will more come from how the users use the laptop...

i have seen lags in lenovo Y480p (core i7 with nvidia 650m)... due to many crapwares installed (a lot of so called toolbars, & china softwares with a lot of adwares etc... rclxub.gif doh.gif )

Aiyo don't call me that laugh.gif

Samsung's handphones are pretty reliable, that I know haha XD
Their notebook lineups should be pretty similar too, since the chassis of this Book 9 is sort of similar to the very thin, premium 9 series some time ago hmm.gif I played with one in Digital Mall last week, its quite good~
But one thing about Samsung is that their warranty cannot extend one, so you only get one year laugh.gif

As for fast enough (Samsung), its definitely fast enough haha, it has SSD man!
Even if you have loads of crapwares its still fast since the loadtimes are quick brows.gif

As for the Asus, although the CPU is slightly better, its running on a conventional HDD, so it will be slower than the Samsung for normal tasks. And will eventually become ever slower as the HDD ages. This will not happen to SSD brows.gif
