Thanks!! These 3 are interesting. How would u say they would fare with....say battlefield 4. what would be the settings it can run in?
Illegear, after putting in OS and changing CPU into quad version up-ed it into 4k area. Its over tipping my budget. its fine if I know the difference than the others (cooling, etc.)
I'm not sure how to double confirm the cooling other than alot of review search. Any particular way to confirm this kind of stuff?

want to ask,
lenovo z510 - i5 4200m and msi gp60-2od-259my (i5 4200m)
which is better for gaming / movie watching,
also which is more easy to upgrade ssd/ram?
thanks.
*
gaming - both only spec with GT740M. But GT740M is really weak to push the pixels in FHD screen in GP60, it will probably crawl in lots of games unless you turn the details way down in native resolution. (gaming in non-native resolution has its own issues).

movie - screen on either model is not that good smile.gif

easier to upgrade ssd/ram - GP60.

thanks for the suggestion. but, there is 2 diff of y410p out there in term of reso. one is 1366x768 and other one is 1600x900. which one is the best for gaming? I also had planned to buy y510p, but the reso is too high for GT755M.
*
Y410P in Malaysia only come in HD (1366x768) screen.
Buy grey import set, and you may not get warranty support from Lenovo Malaysia.

Hey guys, after doing hours of research I have filter out my choices based on my budget & the laptop weight. Mind letting me know the pro/cons on the models I listed out & which I should avoid?

If I missed any models that fits my criteria then please let me know so that I can add into the comparison.

1. Preferred Brand: Asus, Dell, lenovo
2. Budget : below 2.7k for intel i5
3. Usage : Normal usage for sister (web surfing, facebook, movies etc)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 13-14", not need touch screen (dont mind if there is)
5. Preferred weight: Less than 2kg but the lighter the better therefore I am eyeing for the dell vostro 5470 since its very light & cheap.
Asus - Seems like all the models that fits my criteria are >3k, I am left out with these 2 models but they both seems to be using 3rd gen (outdated) & not very light either (but cheap)

DELL - Vostro 5470 seems to be in my top priority but the price is so cheap I am wondering is there something wrong with it? Its super light too so seems like a great choice, but comes with 1year warranty so I might need to add to extend to 2years.

Lenovo - Seems like yoga 13 is lightest but also using 3rd gen, flex 14 is cheap but heavy. I am so confuse on lenovo choices  rclxub.gif
*
Your sister don't need i5 for her usage. i3 is over-kill smile.gif
The Dell Inspiron 14 7000 is 2kg smile.gif

Vostro 5470, i3-4010U + Intel HD4400 + 32GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm) + (1366x768;touch)@RM2149, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8, 3-cell
Price is RSP, negotiable.
Have a small mSATA SSD for caching, battery run time is decent due to Haswell i3. Should leave enough budget to extend warranty to 3 years ~ RM250.

1. Preferred Brand : Acer,Asus,HP
2. Budget : below 2k for 4th gen i5
3. Usage : normal for office usage
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 14", not need touch screen.

Looking for one which is the cheapest for 4th gen i5, have DVD-rewritable ROM, durable with longer warranty.
*
You don't need i5 for office usage smile.gif
But if you insist, your choice is limited to:

Asus
K451LB-WX071H, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT740M@RM2199, 4GB, 750GB, W8
2 year warranty

HP
Pavilion 14-N059TX, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT740M@RM1999[2.03kg], 4GB, 750GB, W8
1 year warranty. Buy care pack to extend warranty.

Prices are RSP, negotiable.
Whether they are durable or not is up to luck and your TLC.

So confused...

Sifus y510p vs ge60-20e?

Better screen?
Better gaming performance?
How's heat desipation for these 2?
Gt755m sli vs. Gtx765?
Is micro stutering a really annoying thing for gaming?
Can you add ssd on these models?

How's the gaming performance of inspiron 15 7000 gt750m?

Games i will play  (Tomb raider, skyrim, bf4, farcry3, crysis3, nba2k14, other latest game titles...)
Play it on medium to high video settings, ultra is unnecessary...

Please sifu need help going to buy soon.... TIA
*
Gee, how many times you have to ask the same questions? icon_rolleyes.gif

Screen - can you go out and look at it yourself to decide?
Gaming performance - answer so many time already. For games that support SLI, GT750M SLI is better than GTX765M.
Thermal profile - both suck, but Y510P is slightly better.
Micro stuttering - can you go out and look at it yourself to decide?
SSD - yes.

Otherwise, 13" with touchscreen, you will have to make do with older 3rd gen (Ivy Bridge) CPU.
Anyway, personally I think touchscreen on traditional form factor is not ergonomic smile.gif
