You really believe it does not get back to the mitts, do you?  smile.gif Some dirt you can see but most you cannot with the naked eye.

In order to achieve this optimally, you'd probably need to frequently change the water in the bucket.  wink.gif
The video test is a little flawed. It assumes all dirt are huge and heavy. The ones that causes swirls and marring are always the smaller lighter particles.

Anyway it's easy to just spew out Google searchers. The ironic thing is that in those searchers, there's pros but also cons about using grit guards. So there you go. It's not bullet proof solution. First hand experience and logic also tells that it's good to have if you choose to wash the way people usually wash their cars.
*
well, it's up to your believe on what works and what doesn't.
sifu krismas also pointed out you don't need to have grit guard. in fact, if you're OCD enough, feel free to try out that method scoutfai linked smile.gif

in a perfect world you'd probably have industrial grade PW's and ready buckets of filtered water with/without grit guards and high pressure blowers fitted throughout the entire room so you never even have to dry and risk marring etc.

but hey, i don't live in a perfect world so that's that. smile.gif

Guys, forget about the washing already. With or without the grit guard, proper washing methods/techniques can minimize wash-induced marring...any method would do...there's no RIGHT or WRONG here...just personal preferences.

The grit guard does work for me, but it's just ONE OUT OF THE MANY items that can be use to REDUCE the risks....that's all. Once you get the washing method right, DON'T FORGET that other thing that is even riskier than washing - DRYING. That is the time when the paint surface is semi-wet/semi-dry with ZERO lubrication other than the water (or whatever left of it) itself.

I concur with the idea of 'bake under the Sun' method with any waxes/sealants/coatings. Not sure why (most probably because it helps the curing process), but performance and durability spiked every time I do this.
*
black car like mine very fast can bake, just reverse the car out of awning, 10minutes later under hot sun considered done cuz black absorbs heat faster laugh.gif

the panels sometimes can be too hot to touch sweat.gif

haven't done actual multi layering + baking... am considering to try that out some day for my own curiosity brows.gif

You should. Actually, I found this out the 'Einstein' way....hehehe....

Actually, quite a few years ago our 'Grand Master' of Detailing did mention about this but it never occurred to me the difference would be that pronounced until I 'accidentally' tried it myself.
*
fuhhh grand master notworthy.gif

after september/november Sepang track days then going to perform another full session + heavy correction which require sanding on my front bumper lol

don't feel like doing a full session just to get marring again by debris/tar sweat.gif

i think it make sense too since no matter how good our machine/skill is it still won't compare to natural melting process... which i plan to try with the black hole glaze too... melt more particles in, then i multilayer the glaze so it can hide more defects colorful metallic flakes rolleyes.gif

then multilayer wax, multilayer sealant topping... oh god lol

i guess in layman, it would be akin to you spreading butter on a piece of bread, as opposed to melting the butter in

But if you mean applying -> baking -> applying -> baking....then you *might* be faced with a little problem of dust collecting and settling on the surface though.....
*
mmm now that you mention that hmm... i guess will really have to find away on how to work around that sweat.gif

laugh.gif  if you going to have a lot of them then a few bucks will add up to a lot.
If manage to find a cheap bottle to replace, next time if bottle spoil, can replace easily.

The OSREN grey sprayer working fine for me.
But two of them have one weakness, that is when you shake (as in carry around), it will leak out water. I have tried before others (but I am unable to find it again) that will never leak. So these products as good as they can be, still have weakness in their design. Imagine if that bottle flip because of a cat or mouse, the next day all the product will be gone.

It's never appear bad to me to have more choice.  tongue.gif

anything spoiling, it's the head, and that's the huge bulk of your cost.

and yes, from my experience it leak too... thankfully i found that out before i have to carry it anywhere in my car laugh.gif

Hi! Sifus,
I have a 9 months old Vios. After certain times of washing and waxing, I can see some swirl marks on the gloss layer. How do I prevent this marks?

I use: Kit car wash and Kit Wax.

Further to that, what product and how do I care for such a new car? I do the washing myself.

TQ

Thanks  tongue.gif
I have a some credit card points to use up and I stumble upon this machine in the fair, so I think this is the most worthy redemption I can get.
I knew you have one too dont jelly  rclxms.gif

But this beast is dangerous too, I accidentally spray the dirt buster on my leg and I feel like 100 rotan beating on my toes. So painful. I am going to blast the mouse sneaking into my house with this  cool2.gif
*
mine only rm300 or less je tongue.gif
only pride is that it's german made haha

and yes, sprayed my fingers while i wasn't paying attention, hurts like hell.
luckily it isn't industrial grade with over 200bar or so (iinm anything 150 below should be relatively safe for your flesh) where it's very capable of stripping paint off walls and most certainly able to flay your skin off lol

on a side note, i shot a fly before with my PW, i think it went splat laugh.gif

Yours model has the detergent mixing feature right? I think is a tube and user inserts it into his own container with detergent in it.
If yes then want to ask is yours PW only output the water + soup when the spray lance in MIX position only? Between MIN and MAX no water + soup output?
*
err i think so? never really used that feature since i don't have a foam lance/gun attachment lol.

no knob for mix/min/max though, only knob is on or off sweat.gif

I'm expecting my white honda city soon.. Just wanna ask some ideas to maintain its the car paint condition as long possible

Is coating necessary or just the normal polish&wax sufficient ? unsure.gif
*
if you're ok on regular maintenance (weekly wash), just prep (clean/clay/wax/filler etc) > wax is ok as well

so polish is not necessary for new cars right .. yeah I do frequently send my car for car wash on a weekly basis .. just concerned about would it deteriorate the paint quality ..  hmm.gif

Depends, my car is full of swirls upon delivery

And I personally don't trust outside car wash, nor am I willing to pay for proper one

wanna ask here, not sure if it has been asked before.. icon_question.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

What's the difference Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax and Meguiars White Wax?? anyone knows?
And also difference between Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax and Meguiars Ultimate Quick Wax??

12volts got meguiars discount recently.. so.. wanna try some expensive pain care product that i normally wouldn't even think of buying..
*
White wax has additional pigmentation /coloration catered to light /white colored cars

Durability wise unless megs included ultimate wax polymers /formulation, ultimate may be better. Though white wax is a newer wax so it may be included anyways.

Best if you check out Meguiar forums to be sure
