always heard of meguiars, but the price is really high.  Placed order on Ultimate Quik Wax..  haha the Ultimate series i think is polymer type too right?  this one is spray one.  the result that i hope for is super super shine rclxm9.gif

so what's your detailing method??  The LYN forum has kept me busy enough, lazy to read mequiars forum somemore..
*
UQW is a good topper, only last a week or 2 depending on weather condition/how often you use the car/if you park it indoors mostly or not.

by alone it's really poor however if you top upon other base wax like the ultimate liquid wax, it'll prolong the durability of that wax by a LOT.

for my method/journal/pictures etc feel free to browse my previous thread smile.gif
my inspira detailing job so far was a one time deal spanned around a week prior to CNY

since then it's just maintenance wash/topping.
and yes the ultimate liquid wax lasted more than 6 months ROFL! (then again my car is mainly parked indoors)

Haven't tried it myself, but i think ive read a review that white wax from megs got mild cleaners in it right? Compared to ULW which has no cleaner/abrasive materials in it?

ULW can last that long in our weather? Wow...how was the beading bro?
*
can refer to my youtube videos, i top it with either megs UQW or Sonax BSD... the beading/sheeting is still strong while the wax (ULW) underneath continues to protect my car coating/surface

Want to inquire opinion and user experience regarding the SONAX Wheel Rim Coating NanoPro.
user posted image
So far my experience is this wheel rim coating cannot last a single wheel wash from me.

My wheel rim washing routine consists of using Osren Degreaser FX 1:10 ratio, with spoke wheel brush and wash mitt. I do a very thorough wheel brushing. 4 wheels cleaning + wheel arcs cleaning on average will take me 1hr. From here I guess you more or less can estimate how much brushing I am doing.

The brush I am using are detailing purpose wheel brush. They are soft.

Last week I applied the coating. I spray once on the entire wheel, then wipe clean & spread with lint free towel. Then I wait like a minute, do a 2nd spray, and wipe clean and spread with the same towel same side also. I have to wipe and spread it with towel because the can spray just simply do not release mist that is fine enough to avoid run on the wheel surface. I watch the youtube video of Sonax and they also recommended wipe and spread with towel.

I then let the wheels dry overnight. I drive like normal for a week, then today I wash it using the routine I mention above.
Before I spray degreaser on the wheel rims, I rinse it with water jet and I can see clearly there is water beading. So I take this observation as the coating holding pretty well on the rims. Then after I done cleaning, I rinse it with water again, I can immediately notice a great reduction of beading strength, maybe I should say no beading at all, with this observation I concluded either the coating has been removed or has gotten so weak.

This is actually my 2nd time applying it and the experience is exactly the same with my 1st time. The 1st time I even wipe the rims with IPA 25% before spray the coating. Frankly speaking I am kind of disappointed by the product. I was expecting month long durability.

So I want to ask is anyone here who use SONAX Wheel Rim Coating NanoPro, experience such poor durability also or do you get superior durability? Even my Meguiar's Ultimate Wax can last longer than this Sonax product.
Do you think is my cleaning too aggressive so it removes the coating? (but without such brushing it will not clean well, and the bristles is so long it shouldn't be strong scrubbing effect neither).
*
can find my previous post.

personally you could be using the wrong product for wheel cleaning, come on de-greaser, really? lol
can consider something like milder dilution meg's WB, or even self dilute sonax wheel cleaner xtreme (the one that stinks like hell lol)
or even carpro iron x if you're ok spending a lot more (imho it's effectiveness isn't that far better than sonax, the pricing however is a turn off)

personally i also agree that the durability of the rim coating is shit, however it does help minimize brake dust from sticking too much on my wheels.
and to be fair, i tend to bake my wheels/brakes over 200-300 Celsius time to time and up to date i've yet to come across a product that can guarantee/claim that they can withstand such temperatures.

sure the rim itself don't get that hot, my highest record was around 150 Celsius though and even that most products have yet to make such claims so eh.

i've tried megs ultimate wax on my rims, it lasted just one track day on my iswara lol... the wax just pretty much gets contaminated by brake dust, or just melted off by high temperatures.
understandably, it is well, wax meant for your car panels, not wheels smile.gif

personally unless i'm prepping for coating, i never even bother using brush. just use proper wheel cleaning products that rape brake dust like nothing and be done with it.

Rim waxing : Swissvax and Polish Angel (very beading but less durable than coating and can stand high temperature)

can, or can't? if can, how high? do you have a pyrometer like this https://plus.google.com/+JasonLimQuazacolt/posts/cj2qpZfx6rH to determine?

After 4 times of washing in a month, the effect remains like first application moment.

U showed tyre?

Continental car has heavy brake dust problem whereby our family only Japanese car has virtually no brake dust on the rim.

Scholl concept Rim7 can easily remove stubborn baked dust., just spray at particular spot, wait and brush.

Temperatures my main concern and I showed what Temps I can cook my brakes at on regular basis

haha ya lor maybe wrong product used =P i used to meg's WB pure, but i dilute before use, hope not to undo the coating too much. abt protection, how do u guys know whether the protection is still there w/o the beading? i cant be sure on my wheels as i brake less and less brake dust xD, is it the ease of cleaning off the brake dust mean protection still active?

btw bro Quazacolt i tried meg endurance gel lol. i would say damn impressive on the 'endurance' xD after 1 month+ still awesome nice shit biggrin.gif
*
i guess similar to your LSP on body panels, if dirt /brake dust isn't etching on the wheels hard, then there's still some form of protection.
when in doubt, can always just reapply i guess.

and yes i love megs endurance tire gel... only need very little application to keep tires shiny/beading/water sheeting for weeks/month.

the only thing that sucks is that if you got some on your hands/fingers, at least half day/1 day or so it'll be sitting there and staining whatever you touch sad.gif
and it's going to sit there until your body's (hands/fingers in this case) natural oils etc takes over/remove it.
most detergent i tried just couldn't get rid of it, and i dont think it is worth it to use degreaser etc on my hands not to mention irritating it lol

Osren video recommendation  tongue.gif
I use it at 1:10 ratio so is very mild. Nevertheless I am already order a dedicated wheel cleaner (still waiting Bro Krismas feedback though). At that time I only knew Osren so I just bought it.
The Sonax Wheel Cleaner Xtreme (comes together with the coating) does smell like piss. But it is too cost ineffective. The most let me use one month then got to purchase again. Unless Sonax Malaysia carries it in 1 gallon size otherwise really too expensive for long term usage.
Waiting my Duragloss 812 All Wheel Cleaner from bro Krismas. I guess this is a better wheel cleaner product.
But still, I believe it will remove the Sonax coating in just one wash.

I agree the Sonax coating works as long as it haven wash off. So, if one wants to keep the coating, he got to use touchless wash on the rim. Which is not practical to me, without agitation I do not think the dirt and brake dust will clean away effectively.

I use this kind of brush:
user posted image
Should be mild brushing action only because the bristle so soft and long.
Mind to share what wheel cleaning accessories you use?or you mean you just use wash mitt?
*
i do believe they carry a gallon, although that one need to check with krismas
im waiting to get my hands on a gallon of sonax xtreme wheel cleaner too as i generate brake dust like crazy considering my driving habits sweat.gif

i personally don't use agitation as it is too time consuming for me, i just spray on the wheel cleaning product (eg: sonax or megs WB), let it sit between 2-5 minutes depending on how dirty the wheels are, and just pressure wash it away - THAT is my agitation

so yea unless i'm reapply LSP, i don't use anything besides the PW
if i am though, i'll use sponge > similar looking brush, and maybe even my clay cloth to go around the spokes etc.
go through few more washes with more product and what not, and then re apply the LSP

If I recall correctly the last time I spoke with them they replied me that they do not carry gallon stuff into Malaysia. But it has been more than 6 months since that conversation, thing could have change.

Hey wanna ask, comparing the clay towel with normal clay bar, what is your personal user experience? Does it work better or worse? Is it really re-usable after fall on ground?
*
generally, clay cloth saves a ton of time, can be reused after dropping on floor (just clean/inspect properly)

the only drawback is that it may cause some light marring, and it may leave very sticky residue/stain if you used excessive force, and/or didn't prime the cloth properly (consider claying your glass first for surface test/priming)
and it isn't as effective as a regular clay (assuming they are from reputable/professional brand/series)

the marring part, most typical light polishes will get rid of it.
and what inconvenience you may get from requiring to polish the surface (that's quite a common practice if you want to fully renew LSP's anyways) is more than made up for it with the time you save using a clay cloth instead of a clay bar that requires kneading and proper lubrication.

I use lowest lux to find the swirls.

High lux can't even see it because it is too bright.

well the high brightness can come in handy at times... but yea, i can go lowest settings whenever i want so no biggie hehe

A trick that I accidentally discovered is to use a sun glass. Using high lumen setting combo with a sun glass with enable you to see swirl on a light color car (white, silver, etc) much easier.
Works great with sun + sun glass combo too.

Actually the Sonax rim coat ok what, last me a few months. In between wash I just use wheel cleaner that comes with it.

But I use Iron X to clean for the 1st time prior to apply the rim coat...

If this rim coat is not good enough, what else is there in market?

In the end it came down to this too
