Try to install/test Pheonix Rom 18, cant even start the aroma installation or freeze in process.

Got to downgrade phiz recovery to 5.15 and install mj5 bootloader.  >.<

Started to dislike this rom again lol

Any idea how to remove the album art from the lockscreen?
It zooms in so much that the album art becomes so blurry.
Not to say most my songs are without album art which makes it even more disgusting...

Alrwady on it for several days... So far so good. Was on Dr. Ketan's preroot deodex stock, change to ARHD because mike86 already put away bloatwares...

Battery and wifi seems better than 4.3...I'm on ND3 modem, before this on MJ5.
*
I am using it now
smoother than Phoenix 4.3 which I used before

the animation seems slower, but more stable, eg. no skipped frames

happy with this KitKat, guess this will be my last ROM flashing before I put my Note II into retirement biggrin.gif

i have the same issue with you before, using the 2A charger and the white USB cable from samsung, took me like 6 hours plus to finish charge which is unbearable

then i search along, found that the Samsung white USB cable is the problem, look at your USB cable at the mini usb end, there is 4 gold contact pins. Try to change to another USB cable with 5 gold contact pin.

check the micro usb end, there should be five pins, it should solve your problem

I have checked, chargers and data cable provided by Samsung are all 4pin only doh.gif

my powerbank supplied cable also got 5 pin

somehow i like the lockscreen album art, but the magnified picture also make me headache, in the end i edit all the music info in iTunes and add in HD album art, so no blurry album art! biggrin.gif
but i guess there is no way to remove the album art from lockscreen

so did any 5 pin cable solve your problem?

but the problem with the samsung calbe only occur after i update to 4.3, before in 4.1.3, i can charge completely in around 2.5 hours, but when update to 4.3 or 4.4.2, it took me 6 hours plus for full charge with the samsung cable, dunno whether this has to do with the firmware.

when i use the same data cable to charge with the Yoobao travel charger (rated output 2.1A), i got around 900mA

when using my sister mia powerbank (rated output 2.1A) with non-samsung cable, i got around 1100mA on average

my Vivis powebank failed big time, rated output is 1A but actual only 300-400 mA

planning to get one Xiaomi powerbank soon

Took an hour to download kitkat via OTA; and another 30min to install.
Yay, finally got kitkat on my N2. rclxm9.gif
Seems more smooth on screen transition.
Need to use for a while to see any different.

v18 feel lag on games. I change back to Mr.Luong v3.6 rom.

Maybe I try 18.5 after finish download it. but probably go back to Mr.Luong rom again if v3.8 is ready.
I change my mind.. staying with Mr.Luong Rom v3.6 for awhile.

E-Team of DN3 Dev is going to release new rom within this 12 - 72 hours ^ ^ look like this week will be flash fest for me lol

is that normal for Note II to only draw about 900mA of current when using a travel charger with rated output of 2A?

using the app "Galaxy charging current" for the charging current reading in Note 2

I was away the last 2 days. Nice discussion. I read about lamjunrong's replies, so he may have a point.

BTW mudkipryan can be largely ignored as he rarely ever gives any responses that make sense.

I suspect you may ALSO have a faulty usb port on the phone, as it can happen. My wife's S3 is having this problem, whereby it will only give 100-300 on GCC unless the cable is removed and inserted again.

If you cannot get 1500 or 1800 on any cable + charger combination, this is the most likely cause.

I recall that replacing the USB port is less than RM50.

hmm, regardless, now is not that bad, usually I charge the phone before I go to sleep, and the time I wake up it will be fully charged, so no problem.

When charging using travel charger and friend's powerbank @ 2A output, it feels to charge faster than my own Vivis @1A

I guess I can live with it, and I blame it on my Vivis powerbank for the slowness

I don't plan to use the phone for too long, and worry that it might just fall dead suddenly due to the infamous notorios eMMC issue, most of it happens after about 18 months or so

Ya, I have the same problem of slow charging occasionally with the ori charger+cable come in the box.
Ihis is an interesting subject.
But I did some googling and found out it just need 2 pins for charging (2 pins for data), the pin that is missing in the ori charging cable is the ID pin which somehow related to OTG (see the 3rd link below).

5 pin schematic
Wiki
OTG Cable

For my case, I suspect some ill-behaved apps keeping my N2 awake and slow down the charging (drain and charge at the same time)... cause when it happen, the next day my N2 will not last as long...need to investigate further.
