Also there's a few Canon lenses that are just unique. For example the 135mm F2L, it's one of the best portrait lenses from canon, quite cheap too, below rm3k for brand new. also you have 50mm and 85mm f1.2L which nikon doesn't give. and cheap FF L lenses such as 17-40, 24-105, 70-200 f4, 200 f2.8, which all of them are just around 2k.

QUOTE(gunzerdude @ Dec 29 2013, 07:38 PM) I already have the 35D and 50D, while my portrait lens is a 90VC, which isn't enough since normal portrait distances gives me F3.3 (The lens stops down when focused closer). Hence thinking of an 85/105/135 to complement that range. always wondered something. how to know the lens is stopped down? for example when i am using my tammy 70-200 macro, i can focus pretty close and get quite "ok" magnification yet still maintain quick enough shutter speed. but when i am using my friend's 100mm L macro, I feel like it becomes really dark when focused closer at around the same environment with the 70-200.

QUOTE(gunzerdude @ Dec 29 2013, 07:51 PM) When a macro lens magnifies something, the imaging circle is enlarged, resulting in a magnified image reaching the circle but also meaning that less light is hitting it. The stopping down is just there to represent the light loss as physically the aperture is unchanged. i noticed the lens's aperture blades will close a bit as you turn the focus ring into closer focus distance, that's the reason right? also is the 90mm vc good enough for portrait? how different is it compared to something like 50mm f1.8 or 135mm f2.8 lens?

QUOTE(f5calvin @ Dec 30 2013, 04:38 PM) bt no use la 24-105 since is f4. i'd rather get used 2470 f2.8 from third party for that price.. stick to used d600 not sure if you can get any FF zoom lens with USM+IS+wide to tele zoom in rm2k

QUOTE(f5calvin @ Dec 30 2013, 11:24 PM) you're right too..plus L lens summore..really good value bt not a must for me, so kinda wasted though.. rather save some for primes. yeah, it's a great value lens, not to forget weather sealing but means nothing though if you are not needing the range and convenient.

QUOTE(jchue73 @ Dec 31 2013, 11:10 AM) 24-105mm f/4L for 2k? Where?Congrats. Not really what you want but I guess this simulator might give you some idea. http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/lens/simulator/index.htmNikon's AF may be a tad slower but more accurate. What's illogical about the 58mm f/1.4? if buy bundle with kit, it's only around rm2k+-

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Jan 1 2014, 08:36 PM) Hmmm, photos are good, definitely taken with tripod + focus stacking. But the colors are a bit too unnatural jor I think? I don't know, but quite impossible for us normal shooter to achieve, he put a lot of work in the PP-ing and lighting.

Butterfly spam also to show how much a different background affects your photo. IMG_7838 by tuna97, on Flickr this is the first shot in the row, I saw the butterfly then quickly grabbed my tripod and camera to take picture, but didn't really like the dull and plain looking background. IMG_7840 by tuna97, on Flickr I then saw some green grasses in the background, and I raised my tripod until my camera is now facing the grass instead of some walls. Now it looks more lively and bright Another butterfly IMG_7826 by tuna97, on Flickr
