is it better than gigabyte gtx 660 ti?
*
Definitely. The GTX660Ti is behind the 7970. So you can guess where it stands here.

Depends on which non reference brand you get it from. Prices hover between 1.1K-1.4K.

I suggest you get the MSI R9 280X GAMING 3GB @ RM1149. The ones costing higher is no point as its too close to GTX770/R9 290 areas.

And yes it's compatible with the specs Cable707 gave you.

More or less really. If you're a nVidia fan, get the 770. If you're on a smaller budget, get the 280X. But if you have RM1500-1600 to spare, get a non reference 290.

Reference cards are basically generic GPUs that follow either AMDs or nVidia's design with a stock coolers.

Non reference are cards made by third party brands like ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI or others who take out the stock coolers and use their own, sometimes even using custom PCBs.

To iillustrate, the back card is a reference AMD design. The front is a non rreference card by ASUS.

You can say so. Reference designs are usually cheaper and runs hotter, meaning higher temps and power draw. But it's generic design also allows you to put water blocks or thired party heatsinks by Gelid or Accelero.

Non reference are more expensive. But runs cooler and is more efficient. The tweaks made by the third party manufacturers however mrams you cannot put other options like water blocks unless it specifically fits your model.

But for you, just get a nice non reference model and you're good to go.

Non reference is usually more expensive. Th spoiler was stating that some non reference cards use cheaper components to keep the price down.

But yeah, again, just use a nice non reference card and you'll be fine.

And nope. Just couldn't sleep. smile.gif

Guys I'm thinking of doing a cheap small form factor build for my dad. Any suggestions for RM1.5K m-ATX build without the GPU? Just the PC itself.
