There are quite a few games that look better on Dreamcast than on PS2. Dead Or Alive 2, Ferrari F355 Challenge, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Grandia II, even Capcom Vs SNK 2. The problem is mostly due to the PS2's lack of anti-aliasing compared to the Dreamcast.

Certain games, like Dead Or Alive 2 and Capcom Vs SNK 2, despite being released simultaneously on Dreamcast and PS2, clearly look better on Dreamcast. It probably has something to do with the NAOMI arcade board, which powers the aforementioned games, which, incidentally, is a souped up Dreamcast.

Others, like Grandia II and Resident Evil: Code Veronica X, are simply ports of existing Dreamcast games, which may or may not be a good idea. Grandia II on Dreamcast had very good textures, thanks to the Dreamcast's massive texture memory. The PS2 version, on the other hand, ended up being a muddy port, coupled with the classic PS2 "jaggies". Needless to say, this is a bad port job.

On the other hand, RE:CVX, enjoyed an upgrade, thanks to some increased polygon count, better lighting, enhanced sound, and MPEG2-quality video. This is an example of how a game can be made better when porting from another system.

There are Shenmue 2 on Dreamcast, but its either Japanese or European version. Its never released in North America because Mircosoft obtained exclusive rights to the game in the United States for its Xbox.

Dreamcast is a first 128 bit console......later console is PS2 n Xbox...

# of bits is irrelevant. I think the DC is the last console that use the "bit" marketing gimmick.

XBOX is a 32-bit console. It owns all the 128-bit and 64-bit consoles.

Having a couple extra registers in ur CPU doesn't do nuts really, if the rest of the system isn't up to it, except it can directly address hundres of terabytes of RAM...which we won't see oh maybe in another 100 years in a console...pointless really.

I felt like talking about some of the "cooler" Dreamcast games from back in the day. Today, the game in focus is Tech Romancer, also known as Choukousenki KIKAIOH!!!!!!!!!

Fighting game fans may know of the game Cyberbots, released only in Japan for arcade, Saturn and Playstation. I only played the game in small doses, but I remembered the character Jin Saotome and his mecha, Blodia. When I heard that a follow-up to Cyberbots was released, I was excited. But when I heard that the game will be released on Dreamcast? w00t! Must-have, baby!

Anyway, the game is a parody on popular mecha animes in Japan. If you're a big fan of mecha, you should recognize most of the mecha the game parodies. There's the Mazinger, Macross, heck, even Evangelion/Ultraman. Well, technically Ultraman is more of a super sentai character, but just bear with me.

Tech Romancer is a case study in too much flash, not enough substance. But what a flash it is! Tech Romancer is so over-the-top in its ridiculousness, it's almost too cool. From the graphical effects, super attacks, and the final attack, this game manages to capture the excitement of watching a mecha show. Witness G. Kaiser's final attack for an example of cheesy 80s anime. (God, I feel old)

For now, take a look at G. Kaiser's loading screen. If that doesn't spell mecha anime show, I don't know what does. I'll probably test out Tech Romancer again one of these days. More Dreamcast coolness coming up!

I loved Tech Romancer. It's just so cool to be playing all those super robots. If you're a fan of super robot shows, you'll surely recognise a lot of the parodies/references.

Capcom games on the DC are so memorable. Tech Romancer, Powerstone 1 & 2, Rival Schools 1 & 2..... all so great.
