I am looking for soundbar for 55inch TV in double storey terrace living area. Was torn btw Sony CT 390 and CT 790. Visited Sony booth for this guy Ah Ket after recommended by someone.

CT390 (RM999)
- decent sound
- shorter soundbar, too mini (if to fit under a 55inch, it is recommended for 40 inch)
- voice clarity lose too much to CT 790 if compared side by side

CT790 (RM1299)
- just nice to fit 55inch TV (slightly shorter about 1 inch than TV length)
- voice clarity superb! Very impressive, couldnt believe this is from a soundbar RM1k+
- 3 HDMI compared to CT390 (only 1) TV, Astro, TV box, Bluray, you need min 3 HDMI

The winner is obvious, took the CT790 home. Cant wait to try it when the house is ready

Also tried out the more expensive model

NT5 (RM2k+)
- unmatched sound quality, rock the floor
- in lower volume, CT790 actually come close, but much less ohm

RT3 (RM899)
-not recommended so didnt test, claimed even worse than CT380
-amp in build in in wired subwoofer instead of soundbar. too much wire.
-600W at only 899, sure got something fishy..

RT5 (RM2k+)
-good for surround sound, didn't test.
-overbudget, extra rear speaker defeat the purpose of using soundbar

Also learned that soundbar like CT390,790,NT5 should be placed flat on TV console in a standard double storey living area connected to dining area (sound to be reflected at ceiling for better effect). Do not hang it on wall unless it is a smaller room with 2 side walls. There is a reason for these soundbar to be designed flat and speaker pointing up.
*except those soundbar pointing forward like ST9

For those from JB. Look for this guy Ah Ket from Wong Electronic, Century Garden. Really pro product specialist, not those salesman that malas layan you or just merely turn up the volume, knowing nth about the product.

Just bought the Bose Soundtouch 300 combo without the surround speakers for my living room, hopefully will arrive tomorrow and have a review for everyone.

It was in contention with the Sonos Playbar but unfortunately the Sonos doesn't do 4K, so I wanted something future proof. In hindsight, I should have actually got the Samsung soundbar as it supported Dolby Atmos.......

how much is it please ? im also thinking to buy, what does it come with ?

About 3500 ringgit here.

Sounds great, make sure you go through the calibration a few times and move things around to get the best sound.

It only comes with the soundbar and remote. If you want more you'll have to get the subwoofer and surround speakers separately.

Sound is amazing, subwoofer does an awesome job. Never owned any soundbar/sound system so i don't exactly know how to compare but it's definitely better than the TV speaker lol

Yup Sony soundbar sound is really good. Me nene using ht-st7 for two years and satisfied with it. Now planning to get ht-st9 for its 4K support. Btw, let me know if anyone interested to buy my current ht-st7 from me icon_rolleyes.gif
