I bought it at a shop called BESTPOINT if not mistaken. Harvey Norman also have this model but more expensive. FYI, the RRP for the unit back then is RM2299.

Saw at harvey norman website:

However, my woofer design is different from the one in the website. Mine one is bigger but still 320W for the unit.

For my setup 50in TV won't looks weird and it looks nicer compare to normal soundbar but in the end it is personal taste.

Flat TV with curved soundbar:

Hi all, was looking back few pages.
Found that following models.

SAmsung HW-J7501
Sony RT5:

My concern:

Without rare speaker, can really perform surround?
My living room not in square shape, not solid walls as well.
Understand most soundbars r using sound reflection to perform well.

My living room: right side - Glass panel door, opposite tv - Glass cabinet, left side - another glass panel ? =.=

TV - Samsung KU55"

Anyone try Samsung Latest Model ? K series sound bar? where come with rare speaker as well ?

I don't think you can get real surround sound with budget below RM2000 for a soundbar. If you can top up then get the Philips Fidelio B5 or Fidelio E5. You can detach from the main speaker and put at the rear. No wires!!! Those stated emulate surround sound not really effective on living room and also not that great compare to rear physical speaker.

How about RT5?
So Philips really good? I'm from east Malaysia, is quite hard for me to get those brands. I can access to brands like Sony, Samsung or whatever in senheng / senQ.

What other models? Budget can be higher.

OK, I'm a big fan of SONY, in fact I'm a Sony fanboys where I own lots of Sony product from TVs to phones. However, I skipped their range of Soundbar because of the higher price and average sound on their sub RM2000 models. I never test RT5 before but it got rear speaker which is kinda nice and if it is wireless and battery operated even better IMO, I hate wires. I recommend you go listen each one with your own sample music/movie.

If got budget I will get Fidelio B5, it looks unique compare to the regular soundbar. tongue.gif

can the soundbar able to connect to multiple source ?

If a soundbar has only 1 HDMI OUT,1 HDMI IN, Optical
TV have 3 HDMI port with 1 ARC

I planned to connect my desktop PC's sound card optical to sound bar optical port.
From Desktop graphic card HDMI to soundbar HDMI IN

From sound bar HDMI Out to TV HDMI ARC.

I have another 2 devices, Hypp TV Box and XiamoMi.
How I get the sound from my Sound Bar ?

If u r after sound quality then I won't really recommend soundbar that cost 1k n below as the sound is worse than a lot of pc speakers. But it does look nice sitting below the TV.

I've owned sony soundbar at rm1. 5k(forgot about the model already) 7 years ago, it did ok at dialog, ok at sound separation, not so to project sound behind u, bass is ok with the price.

Then soon after that I got myself a yammy ysp 5100. The sound field and quality is night and day compared to Sony (yeah I know the price gap). I can clearly hear the sound from behind me. Dialog not bad, sound separation is great. Bass is near to zero from the unit because u have to get ur own sub for it.

Few years later I bought the philips Fidelio b5. The sound is a lot more better than my LG TV, and the great thing about it is the detachable rear speakers. Sound quality on par, separation ok, bass not so.

After years of trying to get back to soundbar, I think I will give it a pass for awhile and stick back to my 2.0 system (although my heart is always telling me to give soundbar a try).

Oh ya, I demoed b&w panorama 2. Great system if u r able to get it at decent prices. But if u r really after sound separation and sound field, just get cheap 5.1 and try to hide those cable biggrin.gif

so for budget below 1k, instead of getting a soundbar do you think it will be better to get PC speakers like Edifier S1000 ? looking for a sound system for my new TV, but dont plan to spend more than 1k. Want it mainly for Movies..... you think PC speakers will be better ? saw LG SH5 going for about RM899 too... 320W with sub.. but dunno hows the sound quality ...

Whatever you do don't get those small tiny PC speakers. It will almost be like what the TV reproduces. For AV purposes, get something with a subwoofer. No sub, no bass and no bass, no syok. You can get a decent pair of bookshelf speakers but then again, where are you going to stick the connecting wires into (your tv)? You either need a "powered" system i.e. speakers that requires electricity to amplify the sound from the tv with their internal amp, or a separate amp to do it (for normal speakers). Powered system will be connected from the tv to the powered speakers via a RCA cable. PC speakers are a waste of time as you can imagine just how much noise/sound it can reproduce from those small small speakers. Any mainstream brands that has two main speakers and a sub will do ok. All depends on your budget and the available space. Me, and because of space constraint, I opted for the Focal Dimension. Now my TV sits on the sub whereas the speakers are in fornt of the sub.
