PHILIPS HTL5140 is not really that good. You go and try Samsung curved soundbar it is nice 8.1 channel.

You didn't state a budget for a 2.1 setup, so the only answer is: just way too many to list.

Would be off-topic though, so head to the stickied HT thread for more questions.
Stop looking at rubbish bro. They're sold in tesco for a reason.

Looking at a budget of RM1.5k

Next option is an AVR (i have zero knowledge on AVR) but the task on learning how they work and are hooked up seems daunting to me to learn in this short time before deciding to make a purchase.

HTiB is a waste as I will be playing high quality streams or downloaded BD movies. The HT must be HDMI capable too. Also looking to play 4k content. Those are the Pre req for the HT

1. Which decent HT system you suggest that beats most soundbars at the RM2k range.

2. My preference is LR speakers with a playback device for now as I am aware that a decent AVR will set me back around RM1.5k in itself.

3. I know this is off topic here, can you please share the link for the HT thread as I was unable to find a relevant beginner level one. Once there, I will read up and ask further questions smile.gif

Thanks!!

I tested both HW-H751 and HW-7501 but I found that HW-7501 8.1ch is a much better soundbar. I owned the HW7501 so I might biased on this. smile.gif
A friend of my who owned the HW-751(4ch) also agrees HW-7501(8ch) is a better soundbar but the downside is the curved design which might not match well on your TV console.

Curved is never my choice for my flat TV biggrin.gif

HW-H751 has better amplified sound quality (must have right calibration on the distance from the soundbar). I got turned on with the 2 built-in valve amplifier smile.gif

I'm using flat TV but using curved soundbar. It looks good and won't feel weird.

This model is 100% around RM1700. I bought it last year at RM1900. During year end fair saw them selling at RM1800. And early this year saw shop selling around 1700+.

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HW-J7501-Cha...r/dp/B00UE9NMFC

In Amazon from USD450 onward. You do conversion also cannot reach RM5K. If 5K better get Infinity HiFi setup. I personal feel it is Samsung best offering for this price range which better than the more famous HW-H751. You have to try it yourselves to judge the quality.
