I think I finally isolated and fixed my problem. Similar to this guy -> https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/tv/q60r...ue/td-p/1444075

Turns out the Astro ultra box is interfering the compatability btw the TV and soundbar. Once I removed the Astro box connection to the TV, everything is working perfectly. If I connect back the Astro box I think the TV is considering the Astro box as another sound system and mutes the sound from the soundbar.
In the end I hooked the Astro directly to the soundbar HDMI-in instead.
That means my dad doesn’t have any HDMI port left to output trueHD but only DD+ through the TV HDMI ports... (that is until Sony updates X9000H with eARC sweat.gif)

So even u direct plug into ARC from soundbar to TV, that Astro box still takes the priority for "soundbar" detection ?

That's what i'm guessing, which is weird since only the ARC port is bidirectional while other HDMI ports is unidirectional. Not sure how the TV is interpreting the Astro box but it clearly messing up the sound connection somehow...

Do you have other devices plugged directly into your TV? Maybe try maintaining just 1 connection - TV HDMI ARC -> Soundbar HDMI ARC to see if you are still having pairing problems.

Nope all the while my TV only connect ARC with soundbar (previously Sony HT-NT5) and treat sound bar as a hub.

But right now only the wireless issue.
Last night performed another factory reset and havent really tested it due to tired from work sweat.gif

Tonight gonna check again see.

Has the question "Has Soundbars Improved to Usable Levels" been answered yet, seven years after it was posted?

I'm moving to my new place soon and the TV speakers are very underwhelming, so I'm thinking either a soundbar or a 2.1 setup. Budget around 1k-2k.

It's the title of the thread, but perhaps you were being sarcastic. Lol. The first few pages of the thread mostly said soundbars are not worth it. But I suppose things have changed much since then. Many soundbars seem to have decent reviews on hifi sites.

My current place is very bare bones. Sound comes from the TV speaker and that's it. It's also a rather small TV at 40". I'm moving to a new place and want to have a jump in quality.

The thing is my living area is long. It's 7m (23ft) long with the TV on one end and an open display shelf on the other end. I was thinking that a 2.1 soundbar would be ok but I actually do have power outlets at the display shelf at the other end that can accommodate wireless surround speakers.
So my seating area would be 8ft-9ft from the TV and any surround speakers would be around 14ft behind my sitting position. Would this config work?

Hi,

I am looking at these 2 models:
1) Harman Kardon 1300
2) Bose 700

Any opinion on these 2?

For Youtube music and Movies streaming, do I really have to go for high end soundbar?

Or should I just go for cheaper alternatives:
1) Yamaha YAS209
2) Sony X9000F

Was considering the Samsung Q70T is Q800T but saw comments about the audio dropping issues. Is it prevalent and are is there a fix yet?

Yes. I'm at 12 feet listening from TV 24 feet to surround speaker. Using Q90r. Works fine.

Thanks buddy. Do you have any audio disconnection issues? Was checking last few pages and it seems quite prevalent.

I did survey a few soundbars at Harvey Norman. Wanted to keep my budget to 1.5-2.5k. The Yahama YAS209 has garnered stellar reviews online but when I tried it the sound was so muffled...it's like someone threw a wet blanket over the speakers. I'm not sure if it's due to the settings in the showroom.

The Samsung soundbars on the other hand sounded crisp and defined.

Hi, need advice. I have a Samsung T650 soundbar. Link to the sharp easi smart tv via the hdmi provided to hdmi arc (out from soundbar to hdmi arc of tv). I connect my fire tv to the hdmi of tv or hdmi of sound bar.
Problem is when I connect the fire stick to the either the soundbar or tv, my tv remote or fire stick remote does not work, ie the Netflix main page just froze. If I remove the sound bar from the arc, the remote works normally with Netflix, via fire stick.
I the same results applies if I connect fire stick to my second hdmi or the sound bar is linked to 2nd hdmi.
Ideas how to resolve this, pls?

disconnect meaning, the speakers disconnect during playback? so far no, if audio dropping due to streaming yes. sometime but its like split second.

I havent try bluray yet, i tried with my laptop connect direct, but DTS HD not recognise, but atmos runs perfectly fine. i presume is windows problem.

I think it is because of the setting. I use Yamaha 209, the sound is not muffled except when I turn on the "3D Surround" mode.

i wanna ask Q70R / Q80R users here:

1) which mode you using ? STD / Adap / Surr ?
2) your front / rear / center / tre / bass settings ?
3) do you turn on Virtual Surround ?

I used to own HT-NT5 with Sony TV and UltraBox and having intermittent loss of audio from soundbar. Then I realised I need to switch on UltraBox then only switch on TV. As the soundbar I just leave it on all the time.

Then I changed to LG GX OLED and Samsung Q950T soundbar, with UltraBox (latest software)...very rare now will lose sound on soundbar but if it does I just switch off everything and on again the issue is resolved. Now I still leave UltraBox on all the time, when I switched on TV it will auto switch on soundbar.

Btw, I love Q950T, the sound is amazing with Dolby Atmos content!
