Hi guys, a quick (and maybe dumb) question.

I have a Panasonic GX740 TV, a Samsung soundbar, and Nvidia Shield android TV box. What's the proper way to connect these devices with ARC?

1.
TV <--> soundbar via the ARC port
Nvidia Shield <--> TV via normal HMDI port

Or

2.
TV <--> soundbar via the ARC port
Nvidia Shield <--> soundbar via normal HDMI port

I think most people do #2 but my soundbar only has one additional HDMI input port on top of the ARC one, but if I add a game console next time it would be cumbersome to switch.

Wouldn't #1 work equally well? Although I've read that some TVs don't pass through the audio without further compressing it...I'm not sure where this is listed in my TV specs though.

Hi ..which of the following would you guys reckon

Q800T + SWA-8500S Rear Speaker

or

Q900T

Is it worth adding on rear speaker to a 3.1.2 channel or it would be better of to go for 900T which is 7.1.2. Q950T is ideal but out of my budget

yes 2 is always preferrable as it doesnt have to go thru TV and passthru your audio to soundbar again. like u said some tv doesnt allow directpassthru and will downgrade the codec before passing it to soundbar. eARC will have better support of high res audio passthru. But both of ur TV and soundbar need to support that

Went back a few pages but still can't find any discussion or love in relation to the Sonos Arc soundbar.

I'm moving to a bigger place early next year and am using that as an excuse to upgrade my soundbar. Distinct lack of reviews from Malaysians as well.

Anyone have any experience or know anywhere I can read some discussions on the Sonos? Thanks

Read through the thread and the biggest question is how you guys install your rear speakers?

Malaysian homes are tiled, mansory on the walls and plaster ceilings so how you guys run your wires through all that without major renovations and not making a mess of things?

I have a question....at price of RM3800, is there any amp+speaker package that provide dolby atmos function and quality at par or better than Samsung Q950T 9.1.4 soundbar ?

or is not just as simple as that ?

A decent AV receiver with Atmos that supports at least 7.2 channel already costs more than RM2.5k, don't even have to mention 9.2 channel. That leaves less RM1.3k for you to buy at least 9 speakers. You do the math whether that is possible...

Guys, which 3.1 sound bar that has Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS, budget around RM1k is it possible to get?

Otherwise please recommend few that are nearest to my budget .

Newbie in sound system, hopefully sifus here can share some thoughts & opinions.

Don't think so unless used units.
If new best bet is Sony HT-X8500

But this is only 2.1 right?

I prefer 3.1 cause has a center speaker which produce more dialog...

What about LG SN7Y or Philips TAPB603?
