I have one year to observe what OCBC will be doing to Titanium holders since I just got my GST waiver. If the worst comes then bye bye OCBC Ti.

OCBC Titanium CC has been removed from OCBC Websire already.
Looks like its Good Bye to OCBC. It was a good CC, 5% rebate on Petrol, Restaurant, Telco. http://ocbc.com.my/personal-banking/Cards/index.html Perhaps someone can call OCBC and ask how much longer the Titanium Card features will be maintained Updated - at 7.00 pm Okay - I just called up OCBC to threaten to cancel my Titanium Card if the Card / Benefits are discontinued and I was told that OCBC is doing a special launch of theie Platinum Card which offers unlimited 0.50% rebate on all retail spending. Hence, for those who spend a lot, its better than the Titanium. The Titanium Card will still continue as per normal and will be re-sold after the special promotion for the Platinum ends in end-Nov 2013 Have stressed to the CS to inform OCBC Management that there will be MANY cancellations if the Titanium Benefits are reduced. But if you combine with other category of 5% on petrol and 2% of groceries + pharmacy+ bill (using Citibank Online) and you're a big spender, reaching RM 50 per month is still possible.Hence, I will not be using my Citibank Cashback Card as I want my rebates IMMEDIATELY. |

But then if it's true than it is very very strange on OCBC's part. This is the first time that I hear a bank totally stopping the issuance of a particular card to focus on another card

QUOTE(cfa28 @ Oct 23 2013, 06:49 PM) It is not uncommon for card issues to revamp or remove their card(s) from the market. Foreign Banks like Citibank, HBBC and UOB revise their cards' benefits periodically and without notice. Even MBB revised the TP for government/education transactions to 2X.The OCBC Titanium has been in existence for more than 5 years and was revamped about 3 years ago to make it a pure cash back card offering True 5% cash back. And if not mistaken, the first ever credit card to offer 5% cash back for petrol as a standard card feature. Prior to OCBC Titanium, StanChart also had a Titanium credit card offering very good cash back on Fridays. I have awarded this said card the titled The Most Exclusive Card in Malaysia in my article Premier Credit Cards - Exclusive and Privilege Cards. The main feature of this card is that it earns the cardholder cash back up to maximum RM600/year for transaction(s) on Fridays. Now, take note, I said per year not per month, you can actually do a single transaction for RM12,000 on a Friday and you will earn cash back of RM600; but after that you can keep the card in the drawer until the card's anniversary again, haha. And now, we lucky OCBC cardholders can brag that we also have a super duper exclusive credit card where even the super rich can't have it It is no surprise that OCBC may have decided to discontinue the OCBC TMC because I bet their card department did not expect us to stop using the card once we hit the RM50 cash back cap. And I bet we LYN credit card enthusiasts have benefited thousands of Malaysians by sharing and stressing how to maximize the returns we get from CC by having both OCBC TMC and MBB 2 AMEX. And with OCBC handing out FREE cash up to RM650 to each individual OCBC TMC cardholder, I bet they are losing millions yearly. This post has been edited by Gen-X: Oct 23 2013, 08:52 PM |

Have you guys forgotten about Standard Chartered Titanium MasterCard ? That was such a short-lived card! It was in the market for less than one year or so. It was the IT card back in 2009. Standard Chartered was generous enough not to alter the benefits of the Standard Chartered Titanium MasterCard until last year.QUOTE(Gen-X @ Oct 23 2013, 08:24 PM) The OCBC Titanium has been in existence for more than 5 years and was revamped about 3 years ago to make it a pure cash back card offering True 5% cash back. I think Citibank is the first to offer this 5% petrol cash back as a permanent feature of its credit card. The 5% cash back feature is already very good and couple with this RM50 usage bonus for annual spending not less than RM10k, i'll be very very surprised if they are making lots of money with this card. OCBC should be very thankful already if the commission earned from its Titanium MasterCard cardholders is enough to breakeven! |

Since OCBC Titanium MasterCard started with 5% Cashback back in Sep-2010, I've collected about RM2.1k of cash back (monthly and promotion) from OCBC Titanium MasterCard
I do hope they maintain the existing benefit... else ADIOS !!! |
