i think some ppl said px100 sounds better??
IMHO. senheiser PX100 sound really muffle compare to ksc75.
but the bass is more... if i were to say a number, it will be like 30% more. pretty much.
but vocal and treble are sort of obviously roll off compare to ksc75..
for your info,, KSC75 has BIGGER magnet compare to px100....
=)
built quality, eg voice coil / diaphragm , px100 looks more sturdy..
BUT
px100 cannot be open as they put heavy glue on the magnet to the casing. once you open it, it is high possiblities to kill it by bending the voice coil.
so ... protect ur px100 / px200 nicely. it can't be recable (according to my skill).
i killed one px100 on attemp to repair it, the ori cable is putus.
how ever, my ksc75 had been recable for more than 3 time (same pair) and yet still working charmingly.

I wouldn't put the px100's bass in the boomy category as it is pretty tight. It does deliver large quantity of bass depending on the track you're listening to but it doesn't go to the point of bloat in my opinion.
*
it's personal taste though. for me its kinda "slightly" too much.
it's not bloat, but it's boommy some how.
for controlled bass? i think ksc75 control it pretty well...
=) listen to ksc75 and then to px100 make u feel the px100 is muffle, not clear, and bass is damn huge/fat... =p

well..... listen is to believe....
i think ppl start to think that talk so much also useless. as no matter how we talk, we will still go around with fre respond, transparent, upfront, soundstage.. so on so on.which ppl might get bored already...
listen it in some show room like mediaplex is even more convincing.

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Jan 19 2007, 03:34 PM)
guys...just thought id share sumthing... a cheap way of improving/upgrading ur HD595s

i made 2 impedance adapters... 220 ohm and 100 ohm. and got my colleague to test it out on his rig which would be :
PC -> Philips PSC805 USB Soundcard -> Cardas HPI mini-mini -> GoVibe 5 (with Elpac 24V PSU) -> HD595

specs of the adapters
220ohm - taiwan made stereo mini/ canare L-4E6S/ 220ohm resistors/ some japan made mini female jack.

100ohm - neurtik/ REAN plugs (the low end ones)/ canare L-4E6S/ 100ohm resistors/ some japan made mini female jack.

so i handed it over to him and when he tested the 220ohms (total 270ohms) he was so happy that his cans finally had bass LOL. and couldnt stop saying "my cans finally have boom boom!!". even i was shocked (ive always disliked the 595 for the lack of bass). but he did say the mids and highs were a little recessed now. most likely caused by the lack of volume i guess.

i just gave him another adapter for 100ohms (total 150ohms) a few hours ago to test and he said it sounds even better as its more balanced than the 220ohms. the word "wow" actually came out of his mouth. and he still raving about how good his cans sounds

the adapters on my 250ohm DT990 made almost no difference honestly. only prominent difference would be the volume level. ive yet to try the adapters on my Philips HP250 (32ohms i think) to test it out.

as for pix... i aint gonna post them up as theyre too ugly they just dont do my previous DIY cable works any justice hehehe.

good job. =P
actually i tested 75 ohm and 100 ohm on ksc75, not bad though. =)

interested thread to read

yes it will of course affect the sound. but some times it's improving, or showing different type of sound characteristic. =)
so far no problems on my 75 ohm and 100 ohm with ksc75. 100 ohm has greater bass. =P

thank u so much for the details.. will plug it out tonight.. i haven't try these amps on my aego yet. Dunno will distort or more omph... Have to figure out how to plug in from my pc to fubar and to this icute batt 2. Not pro yet.

Added on May 21, 2007, 6:15 pmso little components.. yet were paying a huge amount for these gadgets.. wonder it really does cost this much?. hehe
*
well...
for me, i don't really recommend u to do that on AEGO M.
plug an headphone amp on AEGO, even though got the sound, but how sure are you that it won't bring negative effect?

if i am not mistaken the AEGO M input impedenace is 10K ohm.
while the Icute is to drive somethings below 600 ohm.

QUOTE(tek @ May 26 2007, 07:14 PM)
As a few of you already know, I've recently got myself a HD580. It all started after getting hooked on to its sound signature with KilJim's HD580 at the 1st meet smile.gif After some problem in the initial stage which I can't thank PcWork enough for solving it..I finally was able to enjoy them daily smile.gif

My usual setup would be Nano 1stG + Xtra X-1 + HD580. I did find that the xtra made the cans very much warmer than usual. It didn't bother me alot since I do love warm sound signature but I do listen quite regularly to trance..and that somehow wasn't very good. It made trance so slow it sounded almost like ballroom music heh. So off I go reading about portable amps which would mend the problem..but so far not successful yet heh. I changed the gain settings of the xtra; at 0db : I don't know what the hell is 0db gain setting for. It sounded very bad. At 6db, now the HD580 sounded balance with a tinge of warmness. I was liking this setting but then I placed it back to 18dB and was once again overwhelmed by the bass response and clarity at 18dB. My trance tunes may sound slower nowadays but I am starting to get use to it hehe smile.gif

So as you can see, I am very satisfied with my new cans musically but today I found a whole new level of appreciation for my HD580 smile.gif I plugged my cans into my lousy soundcard and was expecting lower quality sound but as my movie started..my eyes widened and the grin on my face was wide ^___^ . The soundstage produced was close enough to me sitting in a cinema and everything just sounded better. Now I just need a bigger and better monitor and my home theater setup is done lol.

ur HD580 is older version with copper ring in the center of magnet.
it's definately not the same with the HD580 some of our friends have. and i expect kiljim has new HD580 too.
as i had open new version HD580 too, which the copper ring is no longer there, and new one has voice coil coated with some paint, and if i am not mistaken, the membrane material might be slightly different as i notice that there's some colour variation between old membrane and new membrane. from what i feel, older membrane is softer. =P

=P akg not even call it as Ear"phone" but EAR"speaker"

wait i find one mini fostex full range driver and hang it around my ear. hehehe power by T-amp

I just got myself the HD201.. still 'burning' mode..
Initial impression, I would not say it's 'lack of bass', because the Philips unit that I used earlier also gives me similar listening experience (well balance sound).

The bass from HD201 however is slightly more distinct/rounded than my Philips unit. Other features like midrange and the highend.. they are quite neutral.

If I want bass, heavy solid bass, I'd use my Sony EX-51. Really put the HD201 to shame in terms of bass output. I usually use the EX51 when I am on the road.. HD201 when I am at home.

My 2 sen worth.

May be you need to give up headphones and go into IEC... I have two!  biggrin.gif

Very transparent compared to SHP895. Used with PRv2, mp3s sounds bad. I'll have to stick with SOHA to hide recording flaws.

YEAHHHHHHHHH... Sennheiser 580 fanboy i am..
haha
this a few day i really enjoyed 580 with my amp..
it's so detail, it's not super bright, but yet detail.
and it's very balance, good sound imaging..
