I wouldn't put the px100's bass in the boomy category as it is pretty tight.It does deliver large quantity of bass depending on the track you're listening to but it doesn't go to the point of bloat in my opinion.

guys...just thought id share sumthing... a cheap way of improving/upgrading ur HD595s

i made 2 impedance adapters... 220 ohm and 100 ohm. and got my colleague to test it out on his rig which would be :
PC -> Philips PSC805 USB Soundcard -> Cardas HPI mini-mini -> GoVibe 5 (with Elpac 24V PSU) -> HD595

specs of the adapters
220ohm - taiwan made stereo mini/ canare L-4E6S/ 220ohm resistors/ some japan made mini female jack.

100ohm - neurtik/ REAN plugs (the low end ones)/ canare L-4E6S/ 100ohm resistors/ some japan made mini female jack.

so i handed it over to him and when he tested the 220ohms (total 270ohms) he was so happy that his cans finally had bass LOL. and couldnt stop saying "my cans finally have boom boom!!". even i was shocked (ive always disliked the 595 for the lack of bass). but he did say the mids and highs were a little recessed now. most likely caused by the lack of volume i guess.

i just gave him another adapter for 100ohms (total 150ohms) a few hours ago to test and he said it sounds even better as its more balanced than the 220ohms. the word "wow" actually came out of his mouth. and he still raving about how good his cans sounds

the adapters on my 250ohm DT990 made almost no difference honestly. only prominent difference would be the volume level. ive yet to try the adapters on my Philips HP250 (32ohms i think) to test it out.

as for pix... i aint gonna post them up as theyre too ugly they just dont do my previous DIY cable works any justice hehehe.

As a few of you already know, I've recently got myself a HD580. It all started after getting hooked on to its sound signature with KilJim's HD580 at the 1st meet After some problem in the initial stage which I can't thank PcWork enough for solving it..I finally was able to enjoy them daily

My usual setup would be Nano 1stG + Xtra X-1 + HD580. I did find that the xtra made the cans very much warmer than usual. It didn't bother me alot since I do love warm sound signature but I do listen quite regularly to trance..and that somehow wasn't very good. It made trance so slow it sounded almost like ballroom music heh. So off I go reading about portable amps which would mend the problem..but so far not successful yet heh. I changed the gain settings of the xtra; at 0db : I don't know what the hell is 0db gain setting for. It sounded very bad. At 6db, now the HD580 sounded balance with a tinge of warmness. I was liking this setting but then I placed it back to 18dB and was once again overwhelmed by the bass response and clarity at 18dB. My trance tunes may sound slower nowadays but I am starting to get use to it hehe

So as you can see, I am very satisfied with my new cans musically but today I found a whole new level of appreciation for my HD580 I plugged my cans into my lousy soundcard and was expecting lower quality sound but as my movie started..my eyes widened and the grin on my face was wide ^___^ . The soundstage produced was close enough to me sitting in a cinema and everything just sounded better. Now I just need a bigger and better monitor and my home theater setup is done lol.

I just got myself the HD201.. still 'burning' mode..
Initial impression, I would not say it's 'lack of bass', because the Philips unit that I used earlier also gives me similar listening experience (well balance sound).

The bass from HD201 however is slightly more distinct/rounded than my Philips unit. Other features like midrange and the highend.. they are quite neutral.

If I want bass, heavy solid bass, I'd use my Sony EX-51. Really put the HD201 to shame in terms of bass output. I usually use the EX51 when I am on the road.. HD201 when I am at home.

May be you need to give up headphones and go into IEC... I have two!

Very transparent compared to SHP895. Used with PRv2, mp3s sounds bad. I'll have to stick with SOHA to hide recording flaws.
