You are in for a major disappointment Bradder tongue.gif
Or. My HD600 drivers are somehow 'unusual' and 'inferior' HD600 drivers.
Could go either way frankly :-\

Finally there's someone offering his big help to me. biggrin.gif rclxms.gif What I had in my mind are HD650, 600, 595, AKG701, Beyer DT880, Grado SR325i (or higher grados) but I really don't know what should I choose as I never audition them and I don't know what "kind" of person I am, read a lot reviews but too much will make me more confuse rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif . Up to date I only know mediaplex in KLCC and Music by design at Jalan Tun Razak (which two places are quite near...) selling sennheiser and Grado respectively, but I don't know whether they are they letting you to audition them.
Well, the senn's stocks I could get from Davis later on (if cheaper biggrin.gif ).
For amp, I already possess Little Dot Micro+. I know it would sooner or later not enough to power them but anyhow just get the phones first (as adviced by Alamaklor). tongue.gif

701 u can try it out in asia sound, good news is they have moved to same floor as mbd at city square. Simon at mbd definitely let u listen as u wish.(i always hang around there).

Do try out the gs1k too tongue.gif, my fren bought senn mx500 in mediaplex and they let us audition b4 buy, so as long as they got stock, i think u will have chance to listen. Beware that mediaplex only have consumer level setup.Likely u may not hear the best perfomance of 650 there.

Is it? drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif Then I hope I could find city square this time as I am first timer there... Ok I will look for Simon in mbd sweat.gif
GS1k will certainly be out of my budget sweat.gif But if free audition I don't mind there... hehe...
My setup here also are consumer level setup... Mostly likely only LDM+ amp only. tongue.gif

as for the senn's i was in klcc media plex today hoping to get a glimpse and also a little listening audition in there, out of luck as they dont have stock, they only got hd 555 and it was not as good as my 601, i think the philips 805 also sound much more pleasant, maybe im wrong, but u dont get class one service, cause ppl there will that u are just a walk past by, kacau their time, they wont let me try on their heaphone amp that cost rm 3500 but told me i could try on the nakamichi lifestyle system and they also played sucky music which was not pleasant to listen at all, very disappointed, vmad.gif mad.gif

well the good side is that the si tau po, elaine, i think, has taken my business card and will contact me as soon as the stocks arrive, i mean the 650. they only got the dj heaphones and also studio and also the RF wireless headphones, and the noise cancellation senn's are the best selling headphones in mediaplex, i was being told that, though i was not interested.

funny ah, when i step into the shop, no one care to entertain and those ppl in the shop only entertain you as long as u are not malaysian, i mean foreginers.
very bad impression.

the other thing i saw was mediaplex also sells AKG headphones at very high prices also, but they dont carry the reference series, only studio monitor and lower range AKG's are available. prices too are more expensive compare to ampang park.

i also went over to try on bose so call tripod headphones and also quiet comfort, active noise cancellation headphones. the tripod will cost you rm 590, which the built is shitty and wires are like the rm 20 ear phones.
sound, i think the other brands are better,
as for the quiet comfort, it only works when u turn the headphone on, means that the headphone works actively, could nt function in passive mode, this is a set back,
the good thing, it cancels noise very actively, ppl talking next to u you can not listen to them at all,
i did a test on the quiet comfort, if u dont turn on, you will feel like wearing a normal headphone. noise from surrounding, but when u turn on , the noise disappears, as the noise dissapears , you will feel a pressure from the headphone, this is the inverse wave generated from the active noise cancellation, the feeling is like you are underwater, there is some pressure which i dont feel very comfortable at all,

the good side, a lot of accessories given, for aeroplanes, connect to the amps and a whole lot more, i think the aeroplane connector is worth while, but i think you can self make one, and it does come in a nice cover, set back is price, RM 1450 ,
i would say ok if you travel on the plane a lot, but noise cancellation at home, unless u are staying next to a high way, but i personally feel it is not good for the ear.

didnt come back with a brand new cans, guess i will stick with the 601 for a while, maybe later i will go try the 650 and see whats the difference.

IMHO,little dot micro is not powerful enough to drive those high end headphone.. even those senn are easily driven phones, but little dot micro is not good enough to bring out the full potential..

i would suggest that u take senn as it's easily driven and the warm sounding phone is more acceptable for most of people.. unless u like bright/up front sound then u should go for grado..

it's true.
i used to use the basic CMOY for my grado and the volume i needed was only 1/3 and now using the little dot micro, i need 1/2 to archieve the same loudness

Thanks for the help sonyman, guess it will be a disappointing trip kl trip for audition. So the Mbd and Asia Sound only sells Grado and AKG respectively? Btw, yeah4.1 which model of senn you would recommend me? I am in quite a tight budget though still can barely afford 650 from Davis. shocking.gif

I mean couldn't afford a good amp ATM, icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif So after this I get LD2+ will it helps? Have to tolerate with the LDM+ first. tongue.gif Or I just get 595 cos it will work without an amp... unsure.gif rclxub.gif unsure.gif rclxub.gif
Btw, the one (HD600) posted at ebay is second hand, which I don't want, I am a weirdo who enjoys the burn in process.

Get an amp later on biggrin.gif

All of them will need an amp to shine, but dont let that stop you from gettin them. It's better to just get a good phone, then later get an amp. Definitely better than getting a mid-fi setup now.
