U really need to know the whole fundamental of a source, amplifier, output thingie. Wonder why are u so affixed to a HD650 when u dont know wat a DAC is and ur asking weird question. My advice to you, take turn in life slower man, no need to rush. Look up ur information up first slowly, test them out then decide, unless ur filthy rich then why bother wasting money on low end cans as starters when u can own all the flagship models of all house sound.

Regarding ur question, a DAC supplies the analog signal (the audio) that u listen to. It converts digital data, such as read from CDs into the original analogue data that we listen too. the DarkVoice is an amplifier, it amplifies or boosts the strength of the signal to power up cans effectively (its more complicated than that). A cd player for example has a built in DAC, a soundcards does too. u really need to understand the concept.

thanx ijian for the frank comments...to be frank also err actually i dun own the HD650 myself...jus helping another friend of mine...i myself own only a HD595...and i dun disagree with what you commented but apparently this friend of mine well he is very enthusiasistic and eager to hear what his HD650 can do...i think it's his first high end cans...so ya first timer i guess it's like that...u jus tend to rush into things...

anyway will note down ur comments...cheers...

I'm guessing some US site, it's around that price on eBay sellers too
It's cheap compared to what we'd have to pay for them over here, but not astoundingly cheap there laugh.gif

If you dont need a mic, go for something else like a Philips HP895
You could always buy a cheapo headset for the mic alone to use together with a better pair of headphones

Actually if you really going to do burn in, can you listen and feel the first impression first, then only compare it after the so-called "burn in" process?

It always amaze me why everyone advices burn in with long hours, I mean how hard do you think you need to normalize a pair of headphone drivers ? blink.gif

Maybe my ears got problem, but I swear I only hear some slight differences between first second of wearing till like 6 hours later on my HD595. Thereafter nothing much can be improved or maybe my ears are really insensitive tongue.gif (nice for not losing my moneyflies.gif )

For those who dont hear much of a difference, just dont bother about the process
I usually leave em on for 20+ hours then listen to them normally
Too lazy to take it slow sweat.gif
