I have some questions for people that used to do their business part time, and have transitioned from their day job to do full time business.

1) At what point that you decided to forego your day job? Profit = salary? Potential growth?
2) What is your safety net if your business doesn't work out? The only thing that I can think of is to avoid any commitment either financially or personally. Opinion?

From time to time,  I really get lot of information here.  After 3 years of talking and dreaming about my passion and business that I wanna do,  I finally resign my full time job.

Thanks for keeping this beautiful thread active with knowledge and true information. I am grateful to all the Sifus out there who are spending their time to read and answer queries.

My interaction with lowyat forum had been just in automotive sales section, where I made a good amount of money. I moved out couple of years back when I got a good job. But all this time I always wanted to be on the forum selling something, people who sell will understand my feelings. Currently I am planning to be back with something related to automotive service sector. The plan is like this:

I plan to provide a service to people who are interested in getting their cars serviced at their home. This solves their purpose like:

1. Assurance that the right promised oil is put in their engines

2. Save time of waiting at service stations/mechanics

3. Weekend service to save weekday stress

4. No service charges for the service provided, just pay for the oil at the market price(no more discounts)

I plan to start this first over the weekends so as to understand the market requirements. Problems that I foresee are:

1. Condominiums not allowing this service in their vicinity. How do I deal with this?

2. My mechanic's on leave/away/caught up

I would appreciate to have your comments and/or proposals on this.

guys, any advice on doing agriculture business? As in growing fruits/vege like melons and cili. Currently my house got a small piece of land (approx 1000sqft) but the soil is not very good for growing plant (too many stones)

I have proposed to a land owner which his land located at the high traffic flow road in Kota Kinabalu. If you guys are curious the exact location, I tell you it's at Sulaiman road towards town side. My proposal to him is to build a shell station with 10 pumps with an estimated cost for construction and licensing. The agreement with him is to allow myself to run it for 10 years then transfer back to him.

The station will be ready in another 8 months time. And he agreed and signed an agreement.

Left only one problem waiting to solve which is the operation and deposit for oil storage. I am willing to sell 20% of the company share to raise such fund.

I have worked out a package, anyone interested do pm me but I would need your pof before I share the business plan.
