Interesting. Out of the 4 HP branded laptops, only two are still working after a year, which meant a failure rate of 50%!

If that was the case, why haven't HP gone bankrupt yet? I mean, you are talking about a failure rate of half here!

The truth of the matter is whoever wrote the review probably had a bad batch of laptops, something not unheard of. I remember one time rejecting three Macbook Pro from a buyer here because all of them came with dead pixels. And since the so called crippling problem came within a year, I wonder why they haven't sent the laptops in for warranty claims? Heck, these days some HP models came with two years warranty. Or they never sent the item? Or did they decide that the laptop needed to be able to withstand a fall from a desktop to be considered as good? Not enough information and the writer decided just to say don't buy HP laptops.

The writer probably needed a bombastic headline or something like that.

Brands have wide range of models.
HP Elitebook is very solid.
Disappointing comment coming from tech writer.

this model currently is one of the most value for money model in the market...reli temtped to get it...my final date for purpose is this coming january..

currently narrowed it down to dell 14R with similar spec (except 500gb hdd and no OS), costing RM1849...

see which model will tip the scale within this few weeks. smile.gif

At that price range, yes it is definitely the most bang for buck laptop at the moment.

Plus, you get a removable battery whereas other laptops like the Vostro 5470, Acer V5 (The RM2.2k one with GT740M) or the Asus K451LB all have built in battery.

I actually have a friend who have the same model design, but without the touchscreen function, he drop the whole notebook from table height if I remember him telling me correctly, nothing broke except a dent on the screen back. Still working fine till now laugh.gif

My HP Sleekbook also withstand my abuse and it already been 1 year since I bought it, I guess at the end it may all down to luck sometime laugh.gif

The hinge looks plastic but there is a steel bar underneath the plastic as a cover.

I've been reading this thread from the beginning, but I still need more info on these two: HP Pavilion 14-N060TX and Asus K451LB-WXO71H. Since both have almost similar specs, can someone help me to pick one?

From the Demo units I have tested so far (which maybe be unreliable data) the ASUS k451lb is a little warm on the keyboard area, while the HP laptop stays cool. Have tried several units in LYP and at other places, same with the HP laptop.

Keyboard wise, the ASUS laptop is not good at all. Very shallow key travel and the keys seem to have the buttons misaligned or something, quite weird. The HP laptop has a much better keyboard with longer key travel which equates to a better typing experience.

Build quality wise, there is a clear winner. The ASUS K451LB has a much better solid feel to it due to the aluminium top whereas the HP laptop is plastic (depending on colour, the surface material is different, the black coloured one is plastic but with a slight aluminium kind of finish whereas the other two colour options have glossy plastic finish)

I'm a little concerned with the placement of the vents of the ASUS laptop as it is at the back of the laptop but covered partially by the screen, I don't know if the exhaust vents can push out hot air efficiently or not. The HP laptop has a standard vent on the left side.

Couldn't really judge on quality of the screen, but I know that the viewing angles on both units are more or less the same. I noticed this is the case for the other laptops within the same price range, except for the IPS panels

hmm stumble upon this when i am checking out Lenovo S410P.

Harvey Norman is now selling this at 1899, 0 charge on card and 12 months installment.

S410P I5-4200 4GB 500GB NV GT720 2GB 14" W8

N059TX/060TX I5-4200 4GB 750GB NV GT740 2GB 14" WIN 8

Throw in the additional charges imposed by resellers on the S410-P the difference in price is less than 100 bucks, i do get more in HDD and graphic card. hmm.gif

Not worth it IMHO, GT740m is much better than a GT720m.

The HP laptop has removable battery also...
