Hmm, is anyone on the latest bios (F.23) running windows 8.1? Seems to have a minor issue, when the button controlling wifi button is pressed, it goes aeroplane mode, but light is still white instead of orange. Can someone please help check bios version that they are running and press to see if it changes? biggrin.gif

Manage to solve this issue di. Removed the current ralink bluetooth 4.0 driver and installed another Mediatek bluetooth 4.0 driver from HP and voila it's back to normal. So far don't have any much complains on this laptop.

Questions regarding this model:

1) How easy is it to install your own mSATA SSDs in this model? Are the slots accessible just by taking off the back cover, or will I have to completely dismantle it or something?

2) Is it possible to fit in a slim DVD drive HDD caddy like this one?
*
1) The bottom part seems pretty accessible, however i not sure if there is a mSata slot available.

2) This model has a standard size dvd driver, i think it should fit fine hmm.gif

Er..adding additional few hundred for 4200m( lenovo z510/ toshiba l50)
Or 4500U (dell 14R or 15R) is still acceptable for me.the concern is if it is necessary

RM 1869, Navotech (Stygix) in Melaka.

LOL, I just realised I depend a lot on the "options" key, normally to the right of the space bar.
unfortunately this notebook omitted the button.

-edit-
I just found out two-finger tap will bring out the options menu thumbup.gif

There is not much of a difference between getting the U version or the M version if you are talking about playing games. What is more important is the discrete graphics which should be enough to drive the native screen at 1366x768 when playing most modern games at medium settings - I tested this with Tomb Raider and Skyrim and the performance at mid range should be fine.

Which is still a few hundred more than what you are paying for with not that much of an increase in performance.

Again, depending on what you do. I've pushed 6 hours on dim browsing and wifi already.

The thing is, the 4200U was targeted as a replacement for the 3317's Ivy Bridge. The direct replacement for the 3210M chips were the 4200M, running at almost the same frequency. However, due to the antics of the manufacturers who decided that the 4200U is good enough, that particular chip got shoehorned into anything that they can get their hands on.

Even if they do go higher, they would use the 4500U instead.

Thanks for the clarification.

However I might not only use it for gaming, but engineering drawing as well.
I have read some review and 4200U seems a little bit weak for that.
