  2. Be sure to collect BCard points, ONECard Upoints, WorldCard points when reloading and purchasing your drinks. (when dealing with Newbie baristas)
  3. AmBank Credit Card / U-Mobile holder entitles to 10% discount.
  4. Bring your own Starbucks tumbler to get RM2 off any handcrafted beverages.

Best way to utilise your Starbucks card without reloading >RM20
With a Starbucks Card at RM20, you can
- get RM1 back (from 5% Cash-back Rebate using Maybankard 2 AMEX or OCBC Titanium)
- get 1 Free Grande-size handcrafted beverage, upon card activation
- get 1 Free slice of cake
- get 1 Free Grande-size handcrafted beverage, after using RM2 per transaction for 10 times
How does this RM2 per transaction work out? What drink can you buy for RM2 at Starbucks? blush.gif

Always buy a size under ur tumbler size. Eg: if ur tumbler is venti order grande, if grande order tall, if tall....well..can't help u.
Reason is, if u notice, they always have excessive ledftover when making drinks, it will be dumped once ur plastic cup is filled to the brim, but if u use tumbler, they will try to fit all to ur tumbler. So u'll get very close to ur tumbler size drink but paying rm1 less

Weird yes... but why not ?
Nevertheless, I no longer employ this method as I feel getting new cards has better "perceived value" than "Buy 10, Free 1"
Most of the Barista don't know how to deduct just RM2 from the system (or maybe their system no longer allows it)

Great thread! just found out. may i ask, what is the meaning of this

"Best way to utilise your Starbucks card RM20 x 3
With a Starbucks Card at RM60, you can
- get RM3 back (from 5% Cash-back Rebate using Maybankard 2 AMEX or OCBC Titanium MasterCard)
- get 3 Free Grande-size handcrafted beverage, upon card activation
- get 1 Free slice of cake
- get 1 Free Grande-size handcrafted beverage, when buying a Starbucks Tumbler using Starbucks Card
- get 16oz Starbucks Tumbler @ RM48
- get RM12 balance for the next Starbucks drink you buy (additional top-up with cash/CC)
Total Discount Value : 119.8%"

is that getting 3 card?

"Get a free food item* when you use your ATM card to load OR reload RM100 into your starbucks card"

It stated as OR. So for the part of "when you use your ATM card to load" it didn't stated that you need to load for an amount of RM100. So my understanding is the amount can be any amount as long as u are using ATM card etc. Or you can reload RM100 into your starbucks card using cash/credit card etc and still entitled for the said promo. That is why I'm asking. The promo advertisement is kind of confusing (atleast to me).

Thanks anyway for all feedback.

I hope you win your "argument" based the English dependency when you are at the Starbucks Outlet.

It's suppose to read in this manner "Get a free food item* when you use your ATM card to, load OR reload, RM100 into your starbucks card"

Taken from Starbucks FB

Treat your plant to some coffee grounds! Did you know that, coffee grounds contain useful amounts of phosphorus and potassium, which are a low-level source of nitrogen and also contain minor amounts of calcium, magnesium, copper, and other trace minerals, carbohydrates, sugars, some vitamins, and some caffeine?

user posted image

Anyone here got collect the coffee ground from Starbucks?

one of the reply in FB

I'm a regular collector of this fertiliser. It makes my garden and my plants really healthy and growing fast. My advise is to mix one box with 20L of water and spray or spread on the soil. First you get a healthier soil and second you can smell coffee whenever you pass by or better when it rains. In my case after passing by..I run to starbucks to get my expresso macchiato. .hihihi..

I had RM10 in my Starbucks Card.
Purchased a drink Ice Passion Lemon Tea for RM11.15. Balance paid in cash. The system did not put the Cake Slice reward after 24 hours.

I made a call to Starbucks CS and they told me I need to paid fully the drink with my Starbucks Card only entitle to Cake Slice.

I've escalated it to their manager and expect a call back by today.

Another tips to share (well it's not really a tips, but more like a reminder).

If you're in big malls that have Borders store with Starbucks (The Curve & The Gardens, Midvalley), you can get 10% off for drinks if you present your Borders member card.

Pay with your Starbucks card + additional 10% off, it's a bargain rather than purchasing the drink outside Borders.

For example, if you go to Midvalley, there are 3 Starbucks outlets there, and one of them is inside the Borders. Purchase your drink there with Borders card and it's a real bargain.

To add on to the comment above on the Border, there's actually a few Wismas around KL that gives 10% - 15% when you buy.

Though they said you must be working in the building itself, but the barista don't really check smile.gif

Overheard from barista that, in conjunction with Christmas season, new card design and 2014 planner will be out on November 15.

So, hold on until then if you are planning to reload your card.

The reward was given to me automatically after 2 days sad.gif and on the last day of October.
I believe the CS's statement is incorrect. Maybe the Ice Shaken Tea is not updated to give the cake slice automatically.

Oke, I'll test it when got chance. If it works then its easier to plan for the free cake. smile.gif

It will be paying the drink with card first, then register, and revisit in the same month to redeem both the welcome drink and free cake. rclxm9.gif

Got my 1st FOC beverage from Starbucks card.

Also noticed that they have changed their CC terminal from AmBank to AMEX.

Bought 1 pack of 250g Starbucks Dark Roast Christmas Blend (20 | 13) grind to espresso.

Some branches starts to introduce new food menu like spaghetti and etc. I guess it may refer to those rather than cakes, rolls, breads, pastries and etc.

Cr card got free stuff?

You can reload via any of the participating bank's ATM or debit card. Key thing is to make sure when they slot in your card, it goes into e-debit portion where they will require you to key in your pin number.

Reloading via credit card wont entitle you for the free food item.

Bought a SB tumbler last few days using my SB card but didn't redeem free drink on the spot. After that I checking thru website, there is no 'star' that denotes unredeemed drinks in the reward column. Am i still able to redeem my free drink? anyone experience this before? Thanks.

After used a while, my suggestion to Starbucks or Starbucks Malaysia to develop an apps for its cards access and management by the cardholder such as M2U or CIMBClicks apps.

I did it before... and I even redeemed my free Grande handcrafted beverage at the same time.

The Starbucks outlet at Cyberjaya (behind Maybank) has gone down in quality. Too many customers and you see the waitresses (or baristas) just yelling and snapping what orders you want. I saw one waitress glaring at customers including me when we were looking at the food counter on deciding our order. I was looking and deciding because not much food choices left and they didn't have what I usually buy. Don't get me started on the drinks. Very badly done. Frappacino with lots of ice left and not well mixed. Everything done in a hurry but not up to standard.

Last week, I went to the starbucks at shaftsbury square. First time, in a while, I really enjoyed the Christmas Frappacino drink. Nicely mixed and well blended. Going to try again to see if their quality is consistent.

Starbucks IOI Mall does not honor the RHB Credit Card purchase of Starbucks Card RM30 to get a free Grande beverage sad.gif
Their reason: it's called card activation not a purchase. Technically true.

I didnt call the CS. Not sure how many days it took but from the last check, I think it takes at around 2 weeks for them to update. The free cake is not singled out as the drink that I bought was also not updated until after 2 weeks later. Thus, as soon as the CS update the purchased drink, the free slice of cake is updated as well.

You can't get 3 slices of cake because you have already exhausted the values on Card #1 (RM20) and Card #2 (RM20) to buy the SB Tumbler.

you can have 3 slices of cakes if you top up RM10 for card no.1 and buy one beverage during your 'register' birthday month (This apply to your card no
2 - separate transaction for each card, balance pay by cash) . For card no.3, use up the balance of RM12 for any beverage will entitle 3rd slide of cake drool.gif

If you don't want the free drink from registration, you can use the card as a stored value card on Starbucks items.

You'll still be entitled to the benefits like free complimentary Grande size drink when you purchase 10 handcrafted beverages.

Previously, I didn't register my card also.

Just reload the card like Touch&Go.

QUOTE
Is there an expiration date on my Card?

The expiration date is 3 years from the last transaction on your Card. So, as long as you keep using your Card, the expiration date keeps rolling.

Why should I register my Starbucks Card?

Registration of your Card helps protect the balance on your Card. If you have lost or misplaced your Card, you can log onto www.starbucks.com.my to deactivate your Card or simply transfer the balance to another Card. The balance amount upon deactivation will be protected. You will also enjoy the benefits that come with registration of your Card.

I believe there's some transaction error at Starbucks side whereby the transaction is not captured by money has been deducted caused your balance is not updated. You may want to wait few more days for the money to get refunded. Otherwise, you should contact the Starbucks customer service.

You can use up to five(5) Starbucks card per transactions... so combine them to finish their balance.
OR better yet... keep for 12 months to reactivate the Birthday slice cake reward when you finish the remaining balance. Any balance is active for 3 years from last transaction date

Yes I do collect.

This is the card I got from London last week.

Poor British... they must reload ₤20 (around RM110) to get a free TALL drink.
And yet, registering a new card DOES NOT give you any free drink. I bought a tumbler there, NO free drink too. There's no buy 10 free 1 drink, the card is for Stars collecting that grant you a different level of priviledge like free add shot, free whipped cream and etc.
After all, our Malaysian version of Starbucks card seems to be a super vip status! rclxms.gif

The most expensive Starbucks I think is in Switzerland (though I havent travel the whole world yet). A cup of Hot Venti Caramel Macchiato cost CHF8.30 (around RM30) each. rclxub.gif doh.gif vmad.gif Was stunned when I pay for the drink. blink.gif

Have not visited this thread in a while. Came here today to check if any of you trying to reload your SB card using AMEX and was declined because I was told just now that only VISA and MasterCard are accepted now and I thought I was being fooled. So this is true after all.

I believe they're in the stage of upgrading or migrating their CC terminal from AmBank to AMEX.

That card is part of September 2013 Limited Edition design.

I think the birthday cake has no connection with the number of drinks you bought right? Correct me if I'm wrong.

It's tied to your birth date.

Have you registered your card? If yes, just login and check it.

Or ask the barista to check for you.

I used my relative's card last Friday. The birthday month is in Jan. Bought the drink, walked back to office and check the starbucks system. Bday cake was there. I think it took around 20 mins by that time. I guess I should have checked it immediately.

Will check again with my sis' card. Yes, both cards genuine bday month in jan. biggrin.gif

Not quite true. There was once after I bought the drinks, then I checked the Reward page after 5 mins and saw the Free cake has been updated. Went back to redeem the cake but the barista say its not updated yet. Went back again after another 5 mins, the barista said the same thing, no rewards in the system yet. Gave up then.

not noticing this thread earlier. smile.gif

just to share. i went to redeem my 2014 planner last monday. didn't remember at first how much hv i collected in the tracker, but confident it is 14/15 drinks. asked the barista to check, but he said the system has no way to know ur current tracker. it can only see the rewards (when got star). so buy 1 more drinks to make the star appear on my account. ask him to check back on system and voila! biggrin.gif

i guess it goes like that. smile.gif

From what I understand fron the barista, there are four types of discounts which jived with the above. U can see that they have numbered the discount types at self-adhesive there (got 1 2 3 4). If the above discounts are in sequence, I'm not lucky then because i got 3 packets with #1, the other two are #2 and #3.

Very logical explanation

#1 - 15% discount
#2 - 50% of Starbucks beverage
#3 - RM10 off Starbucks merchandise
#4 - Free Grande-size Starbucks Beverage (rare packet)

If the discounts go according to the number, it doesn't make sense to give 5 free drinks in one packet at one go. I would think they should randomize the discounts.

I do have #1 to #4 packets. Let me get some more packets.

Update: Found a #2 packet hidden in my bag. Must have forgotten it. Anyway, looks like I got all the numbers.

Just went to Starbucks and got a #1 packet. One packet per customer. Quite stingy this Starbucks outlet here.

Went to the gardens Starbucks (2 outlets). Both no stock for the ang pau.

Saw the promo on the valentine card where you get a free upgrade on the drink size. From February 1-14. I didn't ask for more details as I didn't plan to get the $100 topup valentine card as much as I liked the design. I'll pass. smile.gif

No. They will take your ang pow for every purchase. If you still have the ang pow you can try at other outlets. I asked the barista to write all the promotion on my ang pow and it is the same with our prediction for #1 to #3. I do not have #4 but other forumer had used #4 to redeem a free drink.

Only that outlet I had issue with #4. I'll check out other outlets whenever possible.

Some forumers here managed to get their offers. smile.gif

It will be printer's nightmare to print unique barcodes....for each pack they print.
You can re-use if they do not take it away.... those holding #4 packs should try to keep their packets to redeem at another SB outlet brows.gif brows.gif

Not newbie problem. Sometimes their POS system has issues with updates. That and the spotty internet connection. Its a common occurrence in malaysia but you hardly get this problem overseas like ive experienced in either singapore, japan or the states.

Btw, due to starbucks operations is runned by berjaya, their not so forthcoming with promotions like in the states or even singapore. Every so often in manhattan, they have a promo where if you buy one venti size drink, you get another for free.

comparing price of starbucks in hk/china,melbourne, singapore & here, i think that malaysia pricing is the lowest eg black tea latte Malaysia RM$9,hk about RM$10(if I am not mistaken),singapore SGD5(RM$12.50), melbourne AUD4(RM$11.60).all pricing are after tumbler discount

however as someone correctly pointed out, malaysia dont really have a lot of buy1free1 promo

Hi all, I would like to confirm sth.

Today for the first time I tried to purchase an anniversary tumbler @Rm33 with 2 RM20 starbucks card.
Told the barista to split the bill i.e. RM16.50 on each card. Unfortunately I was told that this is NOT possible. They can only clear the first card first i.e. RM20, then the balance of RM13 will be charged to the 2nd card.

Anyone tried splitting the bill as I suggested? Is it possible?

My friend usually used the later method: clear the first card first i.e. RM20 and then the balance of RM13 will be charged to the 2nd card

Noted. But i read in earlier posts that it is possible to charge RM1 to the card, then pay the rest via cash or credit card. On the same note, i would have thought it is possible to charge RM11.50 to one card and then another Rm11.50 to the other, right?

You can do whatever fashion you like as long as the cashier is OK with it and the queue behind is not gazing at you.

OT: I once waited 10 minutes to swipe at KFC to get 5% from CIMB because no one knows how to use the credit card machine. Even the manager did it by trial and error. And until now, the transaction haven't been posted. Been 2 weeks.

Guys, sorry if it has been asked before, but like to ask

Today I did a RM100 topup. They suggested me to get the Valentines card since I topup RM100 to purchase 5 drinks. Hence now I have balance in my old card and new card. To maximize the benefits, should I register the new card in a new email and transfer over my previous balance ? Or Should I just add it to my previous account and share benefits. Id just redeem a free drink with my card also, hence now the balance counter should be 0 for drinks.

You guys sure or not?? shocking.gif shocking.gif shocking.gif I used to work for Starbucks about 13 years ago and it was RM5/hr + EPF + Socso. Both part time and full time are same just that full time gets to work more hours. After I stopped working, I heard it was raised to RM5.50/hr

Well, in all honestly, if everybody were to purchase a new card at RM30 , is like getting a free drink with every purchase of 2-3 cups of coffee. Its just a promo to get more fans. I guess we can call it we are glitching the system la for doing so in a way tongue.gif would be different story if registering is tagged to phone number or IC.
I think to be fair, the new promo is quite decent. You get a free drink worth RM10-RM13 for a RM100 top up, is like a 10-13% cash back deal d.

it's up to SB la want to do what promotion.. smile.gif but to be fair, they need to inform customers that the previous promo already ceased.

many stores still display free drink on registration. summore website also still got. doh.gif quite misleading.

no wonder SB fb got many backlash... biggrin.gif
