Well, it's totally up to your luck whether you get a good unit or not, some people here don't have issue at all while the others have some of the issues mentioned above.

Maybe you can wait for second or following batches which have all these issues sorted by Google and Asus

Yes, it had been a great experience to see an unannounced phone in front of me with my eyes, previously was only those leaks and rumors but this time is the real deal. Went to LG service center in the afternoon(around 12pm) to change the faulty button of Nexus 4, saw it when I stand in front of the service counter, battery is almost dead, the guy who helped to change the button quickly use the charger to charge it. Saw the interface and the appearance of Nexus 5, it is really a great phone!

Based on past experience, normally US LTE band is not compatible here, the US set of new Nexus 7 (2013) LTE has only one band which is compatible in Malaysia with Maxis and Celcom at the moment (1800MHz - Band 3). So if you are out of LTE Band 3 coverage, then you won't be able to connect to it, so buying an European unit which has more compatible bands (Band 3 and 7) is a wiser choice.

This applies to the new Nexus 7 (2013) LTE only since Nexus 5 is still unannounced yet.

Japan LTE unit is sharing almost the same LTE band with US set as mentioned here, only Band 3 (1800MHz) can be used in Malaysia.

GSM and HSPA+ should be working as both sets are having same band.
You can judge the rest of the supported LTE bands in the picture above, I think if same band then it should be able to connect

Haha yeah, HSPA+ is already fast enough for me to do some light browsing like web surfing, mail checking etc.

Nope, I built it myself.
It is almost similar with the Pure ROM and Pure AOSPA ROM on XDA, the noticeable difference is the vendor(binaries used) in the ROM since binaries of 4.4 for Nexus 7(flo and deb) are not yet released, I used the old 4.3 binaries and surprisingly it worked lol.

Edit: GPS is not working on my build, haven't tested the Pure ROM or Pure AOSPA ROM yet so not sure if it is old GPS binaries issue or my issue.
