Hi terence bro, im very keen on the slimport, where can I buy locally? Any forumer selling here?
*
Hard to find slimport cable locally, maybe we can organize bulk order, I am quite interested in buying it too.

QUOTE(sss2sssss @ Oct 12 2013, 05:57 PM)
Hmmm, it's slimport(HDMI tyoe) adapter support the cable from DVI direct convert to HDMI?
Now my monitor is using that kind of cable since it only got DVI port and I'm use it to connect to my laptop, so I bought that kind of cable to connect
And last time I got bought a MHL adapter for my Xperia SP too and tried to connect to my monitor but it can't be output (although phone is detected), after a while it just pop out one notification said that it can't output the screen
*
Discussed this in v1, but it seems like it doesn't work, the reviews in amazon tell us it is not working for Nexus 7 (2013) even though it says working. But that's for direct Slimport HDMI to DVI and VGA.

QUOTE(eebrahim2 @ Oct 12 2013, 07:16 PM)
Hi Guys

I am staying in Johor I want to buy Nexus 7 2013 16 gb. where can I buy ?

1-I prefer Cash on delivery service instead of paying online

2- in the official Google nexus 7 website  the price is around 229 $ = 680 Rm with free shipment can we buy from them like amazan or walmart or ... ?
followig is the link :
http://www.google.com/nexus/7/

help me please tq
*
Senheng/SenQ outlets are selling them, just pay them a visit and pay for it if you are satisfied with the unit. Walmart doesn't ship to malaysia directly, amazon does ship to malaysia for some electronics devices but need to pay international shipping fees.

So does Slimport adapter got for microUSB to DVI one? sad.gif

Currently I can see Slimport HDMI and VGA selling on Amazon, haven't had chance to see DVI yet, but so far only HDMI works for Nexus 7 and 4.

I installed an app call "Reboot Manager" which allow us to bring up the power option via widget.. When I choose reboot it immediately shut down the device and reboot like normal. As I remember if I did that from the physical  button from the upper right, the device will do some loading before shut down... The immediate shut down effect will damage the device or not??
*
I think that is soft reboot, normal reboot should have the "Rebooting Tablet" pop up, soft reboot doesn't erase the data on RAM while hard reboot does.

No harm of doing that?
*
Yea no harm, soft reboot is also a type of reboot to quickly reboot Android to refresh the new applied settings on system app/framework etc without having to erase all the data in the RAM and reboot the board.

hey terence bro, i'm bit confused btwn custom rom and custom kernel. if i want to install elementalX, will it consider a custom rom? Btw which rom r u on now? your nexus also LTE ver?
*
Custom ROM always comes with their own kernel with some tweaks to improve the performance, but most of them are fixed and not suitable to change the settings according to your need. Independent custom kernel is a small zip, normally below 10MB, it doesn't have ROM with it but it comes with more customizations such as processor overclocking, gpu overclockling, undervolting, fastcharge support etc. You can override your current kernel by flashing custom kernel in recovery, same process as flashing custom ROM, use Trickster Mod app in Google Play to change the settings of the custom kernel after flashing.

I am using WiFi model only and on PA ROM since first day I got it, it's my favorite ROM since the old Nexus 7, but it is not out yet for LTE version.

Edit: You can install custom kernel on stock ROM too if it is based on aosp code, so custom kernel is not for custom ROM only.
QUOTE(yvliew @ Oct 14 2013, 01:14 PM)
What ROM is better than stock ROM? And battery life is better?
*
There are many ROMs that provide more custom features compared to stock ROM, you need to try yourself to see what features you need. Regarding the battery life, you can try to install custom kernel which has more battery tweaking features than stock kernel.

Edit: If you want to keep stock ROM or any current ROM, you can use multiboot solution i.e. MultiROM, you can have few different ROMs and test them out one by one without removing your main ROM thumbup.gif

Any compatibility issue when flashing / coupling different ROM and kernel... Can we even run aosp ROM with custom kernel ?

Sorry for noon question
*
First check if the kernel is compatible with your current ROM, if you are using aosp ROM, then it shouldn't have any problem with aosp kernel, if you are using CM or AOKP which both of them are using caf, then you cannot use aosp kernel on them else you will stuck in bootloader or even a blue screen. Always make a nandroid backup first before flashing any kernel so you can restore it when you have done something wrong.

Custom CPU/GPU clock speed, sweep2sleep/wake, doubletap2wake, thermal control, faux sound control and many more.

btw, when i first install elementalX, i was on some selection of menu...now can i go back to that menu selection again later?
*
That is aroma installer to let you choose the max CPU/GPU settings, tweaks etc, after you flashed it, you can use Trickster Mod(find in Google Play) to modify the kernel settings, i.e. if you set max CPU clock speed is 1944MHz in the aroma installer during the flashing process, but you find that its too power consuming and wanted to lower the clock speed, Trickster Mod can do this without having to flash the kernel again in recovery mode.

But if you have clock speed set at i.e. 1512MHz(stock) during the installation but you want to overclock it to 1944MHz, then you need to reflash the kernel again and choose highest clock speed as 1944MHz. Same goes to the other tweaks like "Disable magnetic on/off", initially you switched it off during the installation but you want to enable it, you need to reflash the kernel again as Trickster Mod is unable to change this internal setting.

Reflashing a kernel is totally safe and no need to perform any data wiping, but if you find that it is not stable after flashing it such as random reboot then you might need to check if you have done something wrong like undervolting the CPU etc.

Looking at the antutu result, can we conclude HTC one is superior than S4, then superior than nexus7???
*
HTC One is using Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.7GHz, whereby Nexus 7 is using Qualcomm Snapdragon 600(advertised as Snapdragon S4 Pro) underclocked at 1.5GHz according to AnandTech, but the processor in Nexus 7 supports LPDDR3 RAM while HTC One with same processor supports only LPDDR2 RAM which provides extra 33% in terms of performance, so what we can see from here is the technology used in Nexus 7 is a little bit better than the Snapdragon 600 used in HTC One.

Snapdragon 800(Krait 400) > Snapdragon 600(Krait 300) > Snapdragon S4 Pro(Krait 200).
