Great help there, thanks a lot. But another quick question, though. I've got WhatsApp on my iPhone already, can I register and use it again on Nexus, then?
*
Only 1 account permitted per phone number, so either use on iPhone or Nexus 7.

I was in OA Hypermarket in Low Yatt Plaza the other day and got a screen protector, instead. The case they got for Nexus 7 looks kinda cheap. Well. Just my preference, though. Getting one instead from another LYN forum member.

Anyway. A few enquiries.

1) FB messenger. Its not on Play Store? Not compatible? The messenger in FB doesn't has any alert sound other than the notification only. Able to configure this?
2) How to set the battery alert to 20% instead of alerting me only at 15% when its already red?
3) As the phone goes to sleep, the only way wake it up is to press on the Power Button only? Any other way that can be configure? Silly me. I kept pressing on the top right of the tab like iPhone and iPad.

Other than these, I'm not seeing any faults with Android. Considering of jumping ship and go with Android entirely. Haha. Let's see how it goes in 3 months.

Oh. And I notice that the charging of the tablet is kinda slow? Or its just me?

Many, many thanks.

First, you need to know sometimes the search function in Google Play Store is really dump, it cannot return the results that I wanted, so you better google the apps name and you will get the link in the first few results linking you to Google Play Store web page if you are on desktop and click Install, your tablet will start downloading it in no time, or if you are on tablet's browser, it will bring you to Google Play Store app.

1. FB Messenger is compatible, can be found here
2. You need Xposed framework which requires root access or alternatively use custom ROM, some of them have this settings for you to adjust, disable it or alert at certain percentage.
3. Install custom kernel which allows you to use Double-tap-to-wake and Double-tap-to-sleep/Sweep-to-sleep so you don't have to worry the power button's lifetime.

Charging rate is ok for me, it took around 150 minutes to fully charge from <10% for my unit.

Oh. I also notice that lots of time that the apps I wanted to download aren't available for Malaysia. Any way to bypass other than downloading the apk files and installing them manually? Thanks!
*
Setup an US based Google account and you are good to go, you get full access to Google Play Store services like Magazine, Movies&TV, Music which are currently not available in Malaysia.

Good one there. Thanks! I've gotten the FB Messenger apk and installed manually. As for the Xposed framework, I think I'll put it aside, first. Its not that important, anyway. But. The third one on the custom kernel sounds interesting... What do I Google for on that? Would like to find out on that function. Thanks.
Anyone of you using any casing for Nexus? Do share. Thanks.
*
Custom kernel replaces stock ROM kernel which provides many tweaks to your device such as individual control of all cores activity, clock speed, screen color intensity control, d2w/s2s feature.

Here is a popular custom kernel which can be found on xda forum for your reference.

Bought a TPU case when I got my Nexus 7 but still prefer using it naked with only screen protector applied, I love the back cover of this tablet, not glossy at all thumbup.gif

this is gonna sound stupid, but i've created a gmail account based in US. now, how do i switch the account in N7 when i'm in using Play Store? do i add user profile in the settings?

the installation of the customized kernel is basically like jailbreak in iphone, yes? also, it means the swipe to sleep, or double tap to wake are only available through the customized kernel?
*
Add your US based account in Settings > Account > Google.
After this, open Play Store, swipe from left, click your name(the banner), select your US based account in the drop down menu.

Not really like jailbreak, but yes the swipe to sleep and double tap to wake are only available through custom kernel.

I bought a new Nexus7(2013) but it came with 4.4.2 pre-installed OS, is this a genuine device or latest batch stock? Do I need to look for anything else in new device?
*
To check your batch, you can see the white sticker at the bottom of your box, i.e. my unit is first batch, it shows 07(July) or something similar(sorry the box is not with me so cannot tell you the correct labelling method)

Is it stated there Made in China Date:2013.09? I downloaded a touch screen app to perform test and found out left side sensitivity is really terrible, any way to fix it?
*
Yes, but if manufactured in Sept 2013 then I don't think it will come preinstalled with 4.4.2 since 4.4 was released in mid November for Nexus 7 and 4.4.2 in December.

Anyway you can check the SSN too, just right above the "Made in China...." tag, the second digit indicates the manufacturing month, i.e D90KBC...., 9 indicates September and vice versa.

For touch screen fix, there is a mod in XDA forum which you can try to download and see if it works for you.

Hmmm. I still don't quite get it. How do I create a US based Google account? I did select US as my country, but it still show me as MY and I can't even download Plants vs Zombies 2 from the Play Store. Haha. Talk about being nooooob... Any help, guys?  sweat.gif
*
Actually PvZ2 publisher EA is having 2 different accounts in Play Store, one is Electronic Arts which is only available for US based account to access and download content, other region or we call it RoW(rest of the world) will have to download EA games from EA Swiss Sarl.

let me know if you found any, i'm looking for one, too  sweat.gif

You mean you cannot download PvZ2 from Play Store?
Go here for PvZ2(RoW): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...a.game.pvz2_row
Go here for EA Swiss Sarl account: https://play.google.com/store/apps/develope...d=EA+Swiss+Sarl

Click the install, and it should let you choose the device to install, if you see "not eligible to install in your country" then your account is already US based, you need go here, if you see Play Store error then your account is not US based.

As I tried with the RoW link, it showed me the country problem. But, when I clicked on the Sarl link, it showed that I've got PvZ2 installed, in which I haven't? Haha. Play Store can be lots more complicated than Apple App  Store, I guess? Haha.
*
When you see "Installed", it doesn't mean that your device already has the app installed, it means that you have already purchased/installed the app before so it is tied or registered to your google account.

Yikes. Then. How ah?
*
There is only 2 posibilities, either you can install RoW version of EA app or NA version of EA app, if both also not available to install, then you might need to email support and let them know your issue, or a more simpler way, open a new google account.

Guys got two questions.

1) Is there a way to see battery indication in numberic? I only see a logo but I'm not sure how many % of juice left though

2) Any recommended apps as this is my first Android user.
*
1. Install 3rd party app(it kills battery juice btw), use custom rom or install Gravity under Xposed framework(need root access).

2. Actually there is no 'recommended' apps, it depends on how you are going to use it, for work/school, maybe you need Adobe Reader, Quickoffice etc, for social networking, you need Facebook, Twitter, G+, Instagram, Whatsapp, WeChat, Viber etc. according to your need, if you are advance user and have rooted your tablet, you can download Ads blocker, kernel/rom tweaker app etc. Basically if you own iPad before(since you say first Android tablet, I assume you have iPad or other OS tablet), then you can search Play Store and download those apps which you have used before.
