bro, any chance i can display battery percentage in kit kat rom? don wanna install 3rd party app for it. Btw, why the home button (centre) has no function at all? i press it, it never return to home screen....

There is a native battery percentage in 4.4 which can be activated by adb shell command but it will only show you when it is below certain level due to the color similarity with the icon. Info here

Most of the third party app can be installed to show the percentage but since you don't want to install third party app so the choices left are the method posted above or use a custom ROM. Xposed Framework can do this too but it is considered a third party app, it's totally up to you whether to use or not.

For home screen button issue, it is 4.4 software issue now and is affecting most of the Nexus 4 users according to the Google bug tracker site, so probably affecting Nexus 7 too.

I faced this home button issue after my first upgrade and I just reflash the update again and is working perfectly thereafter. No more such issues

Before upgrade to 4.4, Nexus Media Importer allows me to stream videos from USB flash drive connected to my Nexus 7 II and it is really convenient as i can watch video directly without the act of transfer, but after upgraded i found that videos cannot be streamed directly with the Play icon anymore whilst transfer function is still worked...anyone has same problem like this? wondering how to solved?

No such issues on mine. Copy n playback directly from thumb drive is perfect.

I also face the Nexus 7 2013 LTE not detected by WinXP problem.
Tried installing the google usb driver. Added some string of text to .inf files. Enable developer option by pressing the version number 7 tines and enable - disable USB debugging. And the connect using camera or Mass File Transfer Mode also no use. My winXP is SP3 undated to the brim still cannot.
