I've also tested Assetto Corsa today on stock 290, max setting 1440p, 16x AF & 8xMSAA...getting around 41-46 fps average..FXAA disabled.
*
at stock? w00t. My 7950 only managed to squeeze 28fps-33fps @1150mhz on same setting. laugh.gif I guess those huge memory bandwidth really helps. drool.gif

Other than the 290s, all R9 and R7 used non-ref cooler since launched. hmm.gif

wanna upgrade my current GPU sapphire 7850 dual x this Christmas.
planning to get between R9 270X with Boost & OC 4GB or R9 Toxic 270X with Boost 2GB

which one is better or worth to upgrade? rclxub.gif
or should i get other GPU?
budget is around 1k. can be slightly over 1k.but not so much la.
*
Not worth it, the jump is barely noticeable imo. Get 280x instead.

ic..tempted to get 290..but afraid of it heat issue. so 280x is better choice then? the price still within budget i think thumbup.gif
*
290 offer you better price/performance imo, if you can wait for non-ref cooler to be release while saving more fund that will be better.

I was thinking of making a crossfire of 7850 OC . Anyone with this build? How stable is it?

What game you planning to play? Not really recommended to cfx mid-range card.

Hahah I play everything! Don't want to spend so much on a uber gpu, just want to add another 7850 to my 7850 oc to make it last xD
*
If you can find one for a really cheap price, go for it.
I'm not really a fan of CFX/SLI because it will become a rather expensive paper weight/cup holder when the game didn't support it, not to mention frame pacing and screen tearing could be an issue. Sometime you will end up spending more time fiddling with the setting or finding fixes rather than playing the game.

i would like this know what is the difference between flash and update gpu bios.

because my sapphire 7950 not much the performance.

so i am going to flash or update the gpu bios.
and i am google about it and ask here.

thanks and sorry for asking stupid question
*
when you want to update BIOS, you need to flash it with software.
what you mean? your 7950 didn't perform as good as other 7950 or you comparing apple to orange? laugh.gif

why you want to flash your BIOS? what model is your card? what is the SKU?

QUOTE(Unseen83 @ Dec 5 2013, 01:27 PM)
ah.. bro  oc my g,cards... hmm naah is already factory OC GPU +30MHZ!! lols  by way my ASIC on my cards is 71.8% so not want to risk it...  bought it RM2.1K dun want melt it...  by way saw your r9 290  break Firestrike  10K wow! i just reach 9.919...

x
i play BF4 no game error or crash.. all smooth  MAX setting on 1080P with Anti analising on super scaling biggrin.gif Acid say is best! AA but my game still 40-60FPS, only problem i get is keep getting SHOT!& die... (yes im bad in First person shooter)
*
71.8%? That's cute.. my card ASIC quality is 56.8%. laugh.gif

You won't melt your card since PowerTune will throttle the speed down when it reach 95c, and 95c is perfectly fine for the 290s according to AMD. Just try overclock your card and if the voltage is unlocked, don't touch it.
Locking up your system is part of overclocking process, don't worry about it. laugh.gif

guys, r9 290 worth getting? got lot of problem i heard, im not tech pro.//

thx
*
Yes, it is worth getting especially for under RM1.5k just that the reference cooler is quite loud.

QUOTE(wen9x88 @ Dec 5 2013, 06:32 PM)
the higher asic % is better right, please correct me if i am wrong.
*
Higher ASIC quality mean low leakage on the chip thus it can achieve higher clock speed with less voltage. Card with high ASIC quality can get more clockspeed with the default voltage meanwhile card with low ASIC quality need more voltage to achieve higher clock.

Overclocking still depend on silicone lottery though, 2 card with same ASIC quality will have different overclocking ceiling.

QUOTE(wen9x88 @ Dec 5 2013, 07:36 PM)
just reach home and check asic.
i am getting 69.6% on this sapphire 7950 flex oc.
shit
*
Again.. my 7950 Vapor-X ASIC quality is 56.8%. It mean nothing to me. laugh.gif

i am oc my gpu.
from clock 925 mhz memory 1250mhz
to    clock 1150 mhz memory 1300 mhz.
right now google on how to get better asic quality.
*
lol? did you simply increase it to 1250/1300 or you gradualy overclock it?

want better ASIC quality? buy a 2nd hand card with better ASIC quality. laugh.gif

x Gelid ICY Vision Rev 2

problem is i am scare to install it on my R9...
*
Is there any warranty sticker on you 290x? hmm.gif

Maybe you can ask them install it for you? You gonna need to buy a heatsink for VRM at front of the PCB though.

QUOTE(goldfries @ Dec 9 2013, 04:27 PM)
this is correct.

I did an R7 260X CFX setup http://www.goldfries.com/hardware-reviews/...a-worthy-setup/

2GB vs 1GB on the HD 7790 setup.

no difference at 1080p.

Higher resolution would require faster GPU so the HD 7850 wouldn't cut it, regardless of VRAM.
*
Can i know the exact graphic setting you used to benchmark Sleeping Dogs? Because 45-ish is way too low for a 7970 Ghz at this setting.

Is 650W 80+ Bronze enough for 2 R9 280 X? Just the cards, no other components.
*
Just for the cards? Are you running them on seperate PSU? hmm.gif

QUOTE(goldfries @ Dec 10 2013, 12:03 AM)
yup. the score is as it is.

i also was puzzled, settings unchanged but framerate is as such.

i didn't believe it to but after a few card swapping, it just seems to be like that.

I have some R9 280X to test so we'll see if the score is different. I also have newer drivers now.
*
I see.

Btw, if you happen to have a GTX760/770/670/680 with 4GB VRAM lying around, i hope you could do review/myth busting about 4GB card with 256bit bus width can't utilize more than 3GB of VRAM. ph34r.gif
