we can keep switching? my tiba is on scheduled backup, coz i got experience phone not booting suddenly one. o.o
Can keep switching between dalvik & ART, but it'll reboot everytime to optimize apps (to build the .odex or .oat), and it'll be a very long time to switch to ART. I've about 149 apps and switching to ART takes about 15mins lol.
Tested the built-in screen record function of Kitkat. Now, recording gameplay could not been easier
Another thing that give me a pleasant surprise... for those who use Terminal / adb a lot will be delighted to know the shell now support auto completion! Thanks heaven!
ART is meant for devs for now. the engineers behind it pushed it to be released to kitkat so that app devs and hardware vendors can toy around with it and optimize it for their device or software/apps for future builds of android.
ART is considered as a Work In Progress.
I am seeing a lot of posts arguing about dalvik vs ART right now. yeah it is faster, and yeah since it is new, some apps are still not compatible with it.
yeah it is available for us to toy around too, but if it puts such a hassle on some of the apps that we regularly use, just stick with Dalvik for now, till things settle down and if you experience is all good with ART, stick with it.

I am curious, Nexus 4 with stock ROM + Kernel already pretty smooth and stable, what is the advantages (beside more features and customization) to flash custom ROM + kernel ?
I am curious, Nexus 4 with stock ROM + Kernel already pretty damn smooth and stable, what is the advantages (beside more features and customization) to flash custom ROM + kernel ?
fixed. i m a happy stock ROM user. for kernel, i like to under volt it for tiny bit of better battery life and over clock it for performance when i need it. i also like to tweak the color to my liking.

There's something beyond the smoothness and stability.
Custom ROM basically is like a ROM used by those phones with Manufacturer modified ROM such as Samsung Touch Wiz and HTC Sense.
Common features in Custom ROM are... Custom Quick Settings. Stock Google quick settings are limited and is sort of "illogical" for its operation (eg: Tapping on the WiFi button brings you to the menu). In custom ROM, this is changed by toggling the wifi when you Tap it once and opening the menu when you press and hold at the icon which makes more sense. Other than that still ok la almost same with stock rom
