Tested the kitkat ported from nex5, less fc than the PA 4.4, and a bit smoother. But gravitybox wasnt working, compass also doesnt work, and i cant restore my smses

Reverted back from 4.4 to 4.3 due to no gravitybox support yet. I really need the customised ui especially quicksettings

24hrs on kitkat was fun tho especially the semitransparent appdrawer, ok google, lower ram usage and slightly improved battery life. Didnt get to play with ART coz it fc many 3rd party apps.

Anyway anyone who already got updated to kitkat successfully converter from dalvik to ART? I used gnome's rom+gapps, and so far had 3 apps fc (tb, whatsapp, & camera/gallery). Plus always got the "android is upgrading" everytime restart.

Yup i think he's talking about the official 4.4 OTA, not the custom 4.4..but if its really a hardware limitation why is it available inthe custom kitkats?

From my experience, even on Dalvik, Kitkat really uses a small amount of ram, IIRC about 300MB without any 3rd party apps running. And after I enabled ART, i see that it apps opens up faster, almost instant. Downside at the moment is some apps just refuse to open using ART, straight away FC...and you are right on the CPU part as I notice no significant increase in synthetic benchmarks. User experience is greatly increased though with the faster app load time.

I was using gnome's initial release kk before, and just flashed the n5 port v5 kk last night, seems a bit slower than gnome's even with ART. Whatsapp & TB still FC but camera/gallery is working, plus no more "android is upgrading" during startup. Anyway did you manage to get camera/gallery working when u tested ART in gnome's latest build?

Almost 6hrs on screen time with only wifi on reading mangas the whole day lol

Im on gnome's P:KK with HellsCore b40. Lowered the touchboost frequency and duration, so when I Was reading those mangas, most of the time its on the lowest freq 192khz

Jss. The b40 worked, and now b41 t4 also worked. But have to flash the wifi fix (dePRIMAtor.zip) first, then can flash any JSS 4.3 kernels. No visual glitch like I experienced when using ak112, and I didnt even disable hw overlay with hellscore b41 t4

Deprimator.zip was on xda but but currently its offline..maybe you can google it, and results other than xda should be ok. Filesize is about 133kB..

The custom KK kernel that I've tried (ak112) wasnt stable enough for me..plus its not exactly a KK kernel since the binaries arent out yet...might as well use a JB kernel that I love

As far as i read in xda, KK roms need to be flashed with CWM or multiboot TWRP. Not sure if there's a newer TWRP version thats compatible with KK.

Edit: ok my bad, twrp 2.6.3.2 is already able to flash KK

Eventhough messaging is removed, the message storage is saved somewhere in an xml file if im not mistaken.

I use this app..

Backed up in 4.3, restored in 4.4 no problem. Backed up in one 4.4 rom and restore to another 4.4 rom also no problem.

I switch to dalvik everytime I want to backup or restore using TiBU, and that's only when I switch roms

Can keep switching between dalvik & ART, but it'll reboot everytime to optimize apps (to build the .odex or .oat), and it'll be a very long time to switch to ART. I've about 149 apps and switching to ART takes about 15mins lol.

Hellscore kernel b42 for KK is already available

Working on PKK2.1, with both dalvik & ART.

If you come from a KK ROM with 4.3 JSS kernel (where you flashed the wifi fix), you need to reflash your KK ROM first to undo the wifi fix, then flash the 4.4 kernel.
